Vsett 10+ conversion to thumb throttle? Yes. Works on 8, 9 also

  • I searched everywhere to find a thumb throttle conversion to buy but no one sells them. I decided to put together one myself.
    This modification should work on Vsett 8, 8+, 9 and 9+ also.
    This video shows how I converted my Vsett 10+ to thumb throttle. I never really could get used to the finger pull throttle on these scooters. The video is a bit long as this is my first time trying and ran into some un-expected behavior where I had to devise a work around. Overall, I am very happy with the thumb throttle and will be keeping it this way. I may try testing a twist throttle in the future.
    Warning:
    This video demonstrate that converting to thumb throttle is possible. The modification requires some soldering skills and technical knowledge of the electronic components and the correct method for handing these electro static sensitive components. I am not endorsing or suggesting anyone try this out. This is for educational purpose and any disassembly may void your manufacturer's warranty.
    Here is the list of parts I used.

    Edit: switched to the 130x throttle. Better ergo and more control since they're isn't a huge gap of empty throttle so no set screw needed. Thanks for doing this! Got my 10 yesterday and changed it to a thumb throttle the next day. Wired the exact same throttle directly without using the extra wire and filled the hole with glue. Works great! Couldnt have done it without your vid!

    Does the hall effect sensor have to be the 49Exxx? Or does it not matter if it has a juliet connector that matches up correctly? I found a thumb throttle I'd like to use but it doesn't identify the sensor.

      It is possible that it may work with other series but I don't know for sure. Just be careful because there is a risk of short-circuiting the controller even though the Juliet connector fits if the Voltage pins are not the same.

    I just tried to follow your instructions but after putting it back together and playing it in the throttle does not seem to respond . Do you have any other thoughts or suggestions on how to get mine working. My first thought is that there might be solder touching one of the other pins but I'm kind of new to soldering so I'm not very good at it. I have an ey3 display.

    • @BH4x0r
      @BH4x0r Před měsícem

      maybe your wire colors dont match the connections that need to be made in the ey3, it is critical to have the legs of the hall sensor connected in the same way as the sensor of the hall 3
      if there were wires switched around theres a high probability the sensor is already dead so that would mean soldering a new hall sensor or a new throttle
      BUT you can take the original sensor from the ey3 aswell, but the pins need to be hooked up correctly and the sensor in the right direction

    • @mypev-diy7269

What would happen if i just drill a little hole for the thumb throttle cable and solder 3 wires to existing trigger throttle hall sensor pins? Would it be conflicting ? @mypev-diy7269  Před 2 lety +2

      You can keep the trigger mechanism in place but the Hall Effect sensor inside the controller has to be remove. Having 2 Hall Effect sensor connected in parallel will cause the output signal to fighting each other, one may be signaling high and the other low and will most likely short out each other. So only 1 sensor can be connected at a time.

    • @mypev-diy7269
      @mypev-diy7269  Před 2 lety +1

      Don't need the Julet cable. You can solder the wires directly to the board BUT, you will need to verify which color wires goes to the Hall Effect Positive vs Output. It is most likely going to be different if you wire the thumb controller directly without the Julet connector. I included the pin out LINK of the 49E Hall Effect sensor in the description of the video. You need to ohm out the pins and verify or you can blow out the circuit in the display.

    • @mypev-diy7269
      @mypev-diy7269  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes. That is the problem so the throttle feels sensitive. If I can only figure out how to access the controller's programming, I may be able to change that but so far, I am not able to find any access to the micro coding. I did test the QS-S4 display throttle that is sold with the thumb throttle from factory and it does take up the entire magnetic range when converted to twist so I know the programming can be changed. Just need to be able to figure out how to access it.
