Zero10x Conversion from Thumb throttle to Twist throttle.

- After I converted my Vsett to twist throttle by adding the Julet 3 pin female connector in place of the hall effect sensor, my son really wanted one for his Zero 10x. The throttle controller display of the Vsett and the Zero 10x QS-S4 was very similar and uses the same Hall Effect 49E series sensor.
Here is the conversion process I did to convert the QS-S4 thumb throttle to a twist throttle using the Julet 3 pin female plug. I believe converting the standard QS-S4 to adapt the Julet 3 pin female connector will be very similar. Once the Julet connector is installed, the QS-S4 can be used with may other throttle mechanism.
Observation of QS-S4 with finger vs QS-S4 with Thumb:
I noticed the factory QS-S4 pre-programmed for the thumb throttle has a wider and more granular response to the thumb throttle as well as the twist throttle once modified with the Julet connector. The factory QS-S4 with the finger throttle must not be programmed to take advantage of the wider throw of the thumb throttle and is noticeable once converted, as it would hit full throttle prior to the thumb or twist hitting the max mechanical limit.
Warning:
This video demonstrate that converting to twist by installing the Julet 3 pin female connector is possible. The modification requires some soldering skills and technical knowledge of the electronic components and the correct method for handing these electro static sensitive components. I am not endorsing or suggesting anyone try this out. This is for educational purpose and any disassembly may void your manufacturer's warranty.

Thank you for detailed explanation. I hesitated between half and full twist, but now I know which easier and better.
Thankyou! For the video great guide and now I have many options for throttle.
You rock!
thanks for the vid... i want to put a speed selector switch (1-2-3) , do you know if its possible to bypass the dissplay buttons to configure that?
cool
Hi! thanks for the info.
i also like to change my QS-S4 throttle to grip throttle but there’s 5 wires attached. Please can u show how to install please? Thanks. More power to ur channel.
great videos, thanks. are you able to tell if that twist throttle you’re putting on there is able to be modified at all to put a new grip onto it? like can you cut that stock one off or anything… I was going to purchase one but I would really like to know if I can put my own grips on it, even if it involves quite a bit of work I wouldn’t mind. thanks again.
I have not tried it but I did cut the end and noticed there is a layer of hard plastic the rubber grips are tightly inserted on. So it is probably possible but I have not tried it.
@@mypev-diy7269 awesome, thanks a lot for letting me know. appreciate it.
@@jimmydreadhey mate, did you end up doing this?
@@Nick_Jones no, not yet
Great video! I have the same thumb throttle and i would like to upgrade to a twist throttle looks awesome. But i dont know how to solder. You should consider & make a couple of them and sell it. I would for sure buy the first one. ( a reply would be appreciated)
Yeah, I really want to help others who want to go to twist throttle. If you are in California, maybe we can meet up and I can install and make sure the parts are compatible, the installation sequence is done right so nothing gets fried and the twist throttle works properly. Problem is that I am not a store and don't have anyway of servicing or making sure there will be no issues.
Thanks your the reply. Unfortunately i’m from new york. I was hoping to have one like your plug in play you know. Thanks man.
Hi. Great video. I have the stock finger throttle control and have purchased a twist throttle that has three wires, red, black and white. I’ve opened the unit and the unit has the hall sensor.Do I need to remove this before I solder the three wires?Regards
Yes, you have to remove the original hall sensor for the finger throttle. Warning, if you are planning on wiring the throttle sensor directly to the throttle display without a connector, according to the other people who have done this, the white wire will be the hall sensore and the red will be the positive. Its basically opposite if wiring through a connector.
If I wanted to add a thumb throttle and an extra power supply cable to power accessories from the main battery, would this be possible? They make some LCD’s with a thumb throttle and some with an extra power supply cable, but not with both. I’m wondering if I would be able to do this myself. Can you theoretically have both or just one? Does the thumb throttle use the pins that an extra power supply cable would use?
Yes, you can tap the power lead that is supplying the controller but know that it will be the voltage of the battery which could be 48v, or 52v or 60v. You will need to buy a DC to DC conversion to reduce the voltage to 5v for USB or 12v for other accessories. Make sure you don't draw too much current or you can short out the supply wire. Its small, like 24 guage.
Can i do this on LT-01 lcd?
That good but I want lock and key with pin3 that then pls you can show for repair me ??
Was thinking on doing this but, is it really better than thumb throttle?
The half twist is the best. Full twist throttle gets a little harry when off roading through rough terrain. The half twist throttle allows you to input a steady hand control.
Got a nanrobot d6+ display finger throttle built in one and I want to change it to a twist throttle. Seen a twist throttle on AliExpress with three wires and tells you what each colour represents.
Red positive
Black negative
Green signal interface
How would I know the positive negative and signal on my throttle if I take it apart. How do I test it with electric meter to know which one which brother?? Have you got a email or WhatsApp I can show you or help me please 👍
Sorry, just saw this now. Use a volt meter. Like you said, one of the pin will be positive, the other will be signal input or ground. Its actually easier to find the ground because it will be the one that is also connected to the negative side of the batter. You can trace it on the board or use the volt meter.
Yes how do I know on the electric meter which one the ground sensor negative and etc what will it read?
how to connect simple thumb the three wires black green and red on controller six color display socket red black white green brown yellow
That I do not know. What controller is it?
