    I think the reason you like that twist throttle so much is shown in your video. That Kawasaki set right there. Honestly when I first started riding a Ebike, I really thought that was the only way to go along with a front brake on the right hand side. But after a little while I realized I really never use the throttle, or should say very very rarely. But if I were, that right hand twist sure comes natural.

I have yet to find a left handed twist throttle or I would had used one instead but the thumb throttle works for now. now I had to splice the wires in my case not the weather proof pin connect.

    In my case: the Voilamart twist throttle is huge! It's a normal size grip if not bigger but it then has a big battery meter guage on the inside of it (bright blue and easy to see, I want to try and separate it from the throttle and do a custom build into the front luggage rack with a lock box. Built in 3 brightness headlight, 50,000 mAh solar battery for it. Cell phone holder, MP3 unit etc) so it sticks out (or sticks in) covering so much of the handlebar that I can't shift it. Right now I'm pretty much just using the front shifter because I have to let go of the right side and reach under to get to the rear shifter. Yesterday the ebike power take off didn't go well when I tried to pedal across the street and I lost enough teeth on the cassette to render it useless and I must switch it out.

  • @jackoneil3933
    @jackoneil3933 Před rokem +1

    Good useful content, thanks! I would not like a thumb throttle on the left, and realize most handlebars don't have room for a shifter and thumb throttle on the right, especially with a trigger shifter like you have there. I tried the thumb throttle and then went to a right-hand twist throttle, and while I prefer it in terms of grip and comfort, I've had several instances where the bike started to tip while dismounting and the throttle twisted causing the bike to accelerate and my grip to twist the throttle even more until it reached full throttle and the only way to stop the the situation was to let go of the bike. I do have a thumb throttle 'on-off' switch on the throttle and pretty much remember to turn it off whenever stopped but not always. As such, and for safety reasons I might go back to a thumb throttle on the right.
    In order to have enough room for either a twist or thumb throttle I replaced a similar shifter you have there with the Shimano SL-TX30 thumb shifters which are compact durable and inexpensive. I also like just being able to down-shift by moving the lever rather than having to push trigger levers, and a push-button to up-shift.

    the throttle and get that sudden unintentional throttle up. if they made the static part longer where my hand would fit comfortably making the throttle part shorter It'd be perfect, I've got skinny but large hands.

    What lights do you have on your Citizen bike?
    I bought a kit that has the light/horn + tail/turn signal. The sm-2y connector that comes to connect the kit to the power of my controller is not compatible with the one on the controller (not sure the name for that connector). SO i need to swap either the sm-2y connector (seems hard to find) or the other one to fit the controller. But since I don't know the name of it I don't know how to find it. I am not favoring hard wiring the kit. What do you suggest?
    I knew as soon as I posted this I would run across the plug. Seems the light connector for the Voilamart ebike controller is a DJ706a. I likely will clip the sm-2y connector off the kit for the light and add the DJ706a to the wire harness. I really want to keep my kit compatible with most light systems. But since I don't know them very well I don't know what light systems normally come with. Main reason I am asking this question.

    Haha, to each his own. I like thumb throttle and put a clip on attachment to my AR X-Class twist throttle. However, I would not like a left handed throttle period.
    Also, I've been having so many flats with my original tires that I just installed a set of Shinko 244's.
    Noticed a big drop in range. They knock off a good 30% of range off my battery.
    Original tires weigh about 2.5 pounds these Shinko's weigh 5.8 pounds. Been studying rotational weight vs static weight and learning the hard way how this affects range and acceleration. Looking into the Huntsman Vee tires now. they weigh a pound less than the Shinko's at 4.88 but still twice the weight of originals and twice the price of the Shinko's. Not sure if I want to upgrade to a second battery yet. Might need to upgrade to a bigger hub motor and go 60 or 72 volt to handle these Shinko's. It's been a fun learning experience either way.

      If rough singletrack performance is a priority then a dual suspension mid drive is the way to go. @@gustavobarbero9123 If you don't like the looks of a Kepler then your best option may be to look at a 20 inch fat tire bike like an Ariel Rider X-class 52v. It is fast like a Kepler and would probably fit a 5'8" person very comfortably. Most of the bikes with a 1000 watt hub are 20 inch wheel bikes. Very few 26x4 tire bikes with the 1000 watt hub and none anywhere near good deal price of Kepler. A Quietkat Ranger with the 1000 watt hub option is around $3600 even though it comes with a smaller 48v battery. And the $3600 Ranger doesn't even include hydraulic brakes. Ariel Rider is hard to beat when you look at performance vs cost. But another company that makes some very high performance options is Fabulous.
