With the release of Hyrule Warriors, I got to thinking...clearly not all Legendary Heroes are created equally. So across all the various reincarnations of Link in the Legend of Zelda series, which Link would be the best, the one to rule them all? We analyze their strength, smarts, stealth, experience, and equipment to find out which Link is the best Link!

Don’t diss the hero of trains when he could be barreling down the tracks as you are tied to them
I wanna see the hero of trains come back as this adult super buff experienced adventurer, complete with slaying ganondorf with a train he could pick up with his own strength during his youth. On par agility with a fully powered train, master swordsmanship skills and engineering mindset all other links could only wish to rival. Idk maybe he hops around different timelines, taking op items from all over the series as a reward for helping each timeline's links... maybe he could come on to whatever comes after breath of the wild.

The Hero of Spirits, or as you called him, "Trains", may be the weakest incarnation of Link, but it has the best incarnation of Zelda in the entire series.

I played Twilight Princess again recently and I noticed that Link could also use his sword underwater

Hero of Trains definitely deserves the reward as the smartest, kid graduated as an engineer at the age of 12. You also know that this isn't a normal occurrence at all due to the reactions of some of the castle staff in the beginning of the game so it just a normal thing in new hyrule to have children as engineers.

@@thekingofracoons time travel is more overpowered, in fact Young Link can use the Inverted Song of Time to slow down his perception of time to exactly one-third its normal speed. Also Young Link can just drink some Chatou Romani (sorry if I misspelled it) to gain unlimited magic power, something else that no other incarnation of Link has access to.

Bow Accuracy: He can do a backflip and shoot as many arrows as he has in middle air and also has a bow with more range
Mobility and Agility(?): he can climb, Run and swim with lots of stamina, climb anything, jump and dodge enemy attacks
He might also win at puzzles or be at second place
(If there’s a cooking and survival category he might be the best of all)
I agree with everything except the bow. Not the category but the bow itself. As the other bows in zelds doesn't have a drop effect and thereofore has much more range.

I always feel that the Hero of Legend pretty much trumps the rest by virtue of defeating Ganon without the aid of any component of the Triforce. Simply put, in order to win, most Links needed divine power ups. ALttP Link defeated the full triforce while operating under a handicap that none of the other Links endured.
Hero of twilight can stun him with a fishing rod.

It is called "The Hero of the Four Sword"
And then the Hero of the Wild came around and blew everyone of their feet. Like seriously have you seen his capabilities! Like Stopping a charging Lynel (doesn't matter which type he stops them all the same) in 3 seconds, learning to survive with literally no memories (I'm talking about the Great Plateau), being able to use not only bows and swords on horseback, but also clubs, spears and double handed swords (also the fact that he can use those things in the first place give him extra points from me), HAVING to have a large inventory because he's breaking his weapons left and right, and most importantly, be so agile that he can not only jump (shocking I know) but also back flip and slow down time as he does it. Sure he may not have the magical prowess of his ancestors or the battle experience they have, but he makes up for it with his already mentioned slow-time ability, as well as having Revali's Gale, Urbosa's Fury, Daruk's Protection and Mipha's Grace. And for the other downside, first off the only reason he has none is because he cant remember. In Mipha's diary she says that Link was able to easily best adults in combat at the age of four. But through his adventures 100 years later he slowly relearns everything he lost as well as picking up a few survival instincts along the way.
Oh yeah quick edit: There is also the fact that he was so strong, in every way, that he wore down the MASTER SWORD!!!!!! He used the master sword so much 100 years ago that it was cracked, chipped and was rusting away before Zelda put it back in the pedestal. And even after 100 years of healing itself, it still breaks after a few hits. Link is just smashing thing with it so hard that it is literally wasting away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, I hated that they went backwards with Skyward swords looks. I would have liked that game so much more if it had the same detail as Twilight. Hyrule Warriors seems to be a nice medium between the two though.
Wait wait wait. You mean Legend of Zelda: Brown Version? Maybe it's just been too long but practically my only memories of TP are the dull and uniteresting color palette, disappointing boss fights (except Aeralfos), tedious wolf sections (specifically hunting down the shadow bugs), and did I mention the whole game is brown? I'm not trying to be mean here, but did we actually play the same game?

Spirit Track final boss, Malledus, was to my knowledge the biggest foe in terms of scale that any link has faced (save for Stalord, but he never gets any love either). Now take into account that he fights him alone *while* protecting Zelda, performs a beautiful duet with her to awaken her sacred power, then face him for the final battle as team of 2. And who does the killing blow come from? Both of them who use all their strength to drive the not-Master Sword into the demon's skull. It pains me that this game never got the love it deserved, now they're scared to take risks like that again..

Keane Robin Powerful enemies can’t be frozen by stasis. The Fierce Deity is one of the most powerful characters in The Zeldaverse and Nothing BOTW Link has can really beat him. The Ancient Arrows aren’t as powerful as the Light Arrows, And his Runes and champion power-ups can be matched (Mipha’s Grace-Fairies Daruk’s protection-Nayru’s love or their indestructible Hylian Shield). Urbosa’s fury is the only thing that can’t be imitated but even then, I don’t the stun would be enough to defeat him. Not to mention it’s said that his Master Sword is weakened and was already outshined by the Helix sword.

All botw link has to do is stasis the fierce deity and take that moment to use the one hit obliterator and fierce deity would be no more.

I agree with the outcome. I was skeptical when you hardly mentioned the hero of time at first. and imagine if you gave him his complete weapon arsenals from both games adult and child. then he would have the longshot and all the elemental ocarina stuff. Also I just thought of something stupid. how weird would it look if young hero of time used the golden gauntlets.
Bullshit twist. Anyone can beat a Deku Scrub, earlier in your video you say yourself that TP Link can take down a goron, and TP Link also has the Zora armor which could make him go toe to toe with a Zora.

Twilight Princess was so damn close!! God damn it. I love you TP Link... Also, one last bit of information. As you showed that the Hero of Time is the white wolf who teaches Link his moves in Twilight Princess, he refers to Link at one point as his son (or something close to that) so a big theory is that the Hero of Time married a ranch girl. Kinda makes sense because in the Time line where Link stays an adult, Twilight Princess is the first game in that branch of the time line.
The two links can not be related since 1 child link died as a child and 2 link reincarnates so he could never have a chuld who is himself

I got my timeline wrong anyways guys. I came on here to edit my comment after looking back at my Hyrule Historia. The official timeline dates Twilight Princess after Majora's mask. It could be more of a mentor thing as well, and the only "officially" related Links I can think of are Wind Waker/Phantom hourglass and Spirit Tracks Link, they might not be though but it seems likely. Also, for the Hero's Shade to be the Hero of Time, as stated by Nintendo, the whole 'Link died as a child in Majora's Mask' would also have to be incorrect, since the Hero's Shade is a full grown skeleton and Majora's Mask like was a child. Again I am probably rambling nonsense but I am trying to be smart!! It just always seemed right for me to imagine the Shade and Twilight Princess Link to be Father and Son, and I always want to know about relations in the Zelda series.

I would think LBW YuGanon, simply because he had both the Triforce of Wisdom and Triforce of Power in his possession which none of the others had the powers of.
As I recall in Link to the Past Ganon had the complete Triforce, he's probably the most powerful.

Chisa Yukizome Which actually further reminds me, at the end of LttP Link had the complete Triforce. Would that count as part of his arsenal? Because if so? None of the other Links stand a chance. Have any of the other Links ever had the complete Triforce?
Enclave I doubt he would use it for his own means though. I'm sure he did the right thing and released it back to the Sacred Realm, safe.

Hero of Twilight, calling it at the beginning of the video...okay wait a minute:
Twilight can wrestle a goron, so the goron mask isn't that special.
Twilight's swimming ability is the same as the zora mask essentially.
Wolf form is more agile than the damn bird even, much less the deku scrublord.
Also, Young Hero of Time only had the skill to teach the Hero of Twilight after an obviously extensive amount of time. If Time and Twilight fought, it would be the young, inexperienced kid, not the old, grizzled veteran.
Tl;dr you are wrong dammit.
You forgot that all these masks have extra abilities:
Goron mask : extra tanky + spikes when you roll
Zora mask : underwater karate + fin boomerangs
Deku mask : ability to fly between flowers,+ kind of water walking
And then there's the feirce deity mask that just allow insane stuff and insane magic (those magic missiles shot after each sword hit are pretty much like ganondorf magic, don't expect blocking them a shield)
Oh and there also is Giant mask that.... turns you into a giant. Even if you can wrestle with a goron, you can't lift a 20m tall enemy

Atowpylg Deity mask would have to be excluded, as well as giant mask.
If this were Link exclusive Smash Bros, Hero of Time wouldn't get those two at least. If they were in that situation, Twilight Link would win.

In all, very well done video and I do very much agree that The Hero of Time is the strongest due to the advent of Majora's Mask with TP Link being a close second and ALTTP Link being third. Almost got me with that Curve ball in which the Masks, Time travel and connection to the Hero's Shade wasn't introduced till the end. Great Video MatPat. Don't think I've got a problem with this one lol However TP Link CAN use his sword while underwater, not while he is swimming though...unless that boss fight with Morpheel counts...
