(This one goes back to episode 7 of the series! So it's old...but it's still a personal favorite)
I just got done playing Lego Batman 3, and there are SO MANY CHARACTERS to unlock. Seriously, like 150. And while a lot of the comic book characters I recognized -- Joker, Lex Luthor, Hal Jordan and the Green Lanterns -- there was a WHOLE lot more that I didn't, like a half-Superman, half-Batman hybrid, and a robotic Superman, and a Batman COW! So I'm digging deep into comic lore to shed some light on these lesser-known characters, and what I've found is that the characters you DON'T know are WAY cooler than the ones that you DO!

I always thought this. For a while I thought maybe I just was stupid and didn’t realize he was making a theory out of this, or that I had skipped the ending which tied it all together or something.
And yet we came back to watch it again
I mean the theory was kinda "The stories you don't hear are often just as interesting as the ones you do"

The strangest DC character I can think of is Danny the Street, who is a living street.
What can he do?
In his appearance in a Teen Titans comic, he collected information since no one would suspect a street would be listening to them.

When MatPat started with Composite Man, a character I had never heard of or even imagined, I expected to be lost for the rest of this episode. I ended up surprising myself by recognizing EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER AFTER HIM. I am clearly a way bigger comic book nerd than I imagined (not sure if that's a good think or not, though).

Comic Books will be like that. The most popular characters are the easiest to comprehend. I often wonder why Victor Zsasz never showed up in a Batman Animation. Zsasz is a serial killer with the pathological need to commit murder, who carves tally marks in his skin and makes no apologies, but the state won't kill him because bullshit psychosis. How terrible is this person? Batman has stated once or twice that there is literally no one he hates more. It's ironic that characters like the Joker and Hush would work hard to earn this position, but Zsasz sincerely couldn't care less.

I remember listening to a rant how comic book movies are NOT aimed towards comic book fans, but rather to pop culture, which is why they're so refined.
If you do want story more akin to the actual comics, but aren't convoluted enough to get lost in lore- watch the ANIMATED movies. Seriously, they're amazing!

That's why I love Guardians of the Galaxy. It embraces weirdness and off-the-wall characters.
Before i was like what the heck marvel why weird superheroes but after the movies they became my 5th favorite superhero group but i easily see why marvel did the guardian of the galaxy to show people there is more than mainstream heroes
Blame Batman. It devolved into such horrible cash ins with bat credit cards and bat nipples that once Christian Bale stepped in to reboot the series, it left every producer thinking gruff tough guy comicbook fished dramas are what people want. There's a lot of room there, and it's still part of the fantasy genre, and could use more Shrek mentality and less... some brooding thing with personal challenges with feelings and woe is me, with dead side characters we are supposed to care about with zero personality but affected the main character deeply. OMG Deadpool should be awesome and true to the series. If it's bad, it's bad. But they need it to be Deadpool and it'll be awesome. Have the Lego guys write the script! They are either extensive in the research or just awesome.

I must respectfully disagree. Hope is even worse than willpower. At least willpower is a positive trait, being mental stamina/strength essentially. Hope is just an idea, or thought. Let's say a person smokes cigarettes: With willpower, he can actually quit smoking. With hope, he can feel good about the possibility that he might quit someday.
with rage, you can lift a skyscraper, just look at the hulk.
They truth of the matter is, as explained in the comics, every ring power is more powerful than Willpower (concentration) but only Willpower out of all of them is controllable. It is control. Everything else is burst-powered, making The Green Lantern Core the only suitable protectors of the Galaxies

You're right, in a way, but energy is more definable. Hope can be smashed with a simple glare. The difference between all the rings versus the green is like that of a single bazooka v a P90. The bazooka hits hard in one go, but that is it. You have more control and reliability with green. White is similar in that respect, but the limited amount of white lanterns almost files it under the same analogy.

Guardians of the Galaxy's success proved that the world is ready and has been for quite a while, just needed people like James Gunn for it to be good. Also, Detective Chimp is favorite. We deserve a Detective Chimp movie directed by David Fincher.
Detective Chimp movies could be a mix of Sherlock Holmes,Batman, a bit of Planet of the Apes cause you know detective chimp would look awesome with that kind of CGi, and a splash of Guardians of the Galaxy because you know it would be unfair to not have some comedy in a movie with a chimp detective. Im all about this or potentially these movies,detective stuff in general is awesome and a favorite genre for me.

Wait... does DC really not realize how much interesting stuff they have at hand? I didn't know about any of this, I honestly thought they had Batman, Superman, and stuff like aquaman. Movies about the different lanterns would be so much more interesting then another goddamn superman movie.
that's one of the issues I have with how WB handles DC movies. if they could just find filmmakers that care about the DC Universe as a whole, they could do some amazing work. I never ever EVER imagined myself caring about a group of assholes in space, but Marvel made me care about Guardians of the Galaxy. I am so ready to throw my money at DC movies, but they seriously need to climb off of the collective ballsacks of Batman and Superman.
+Dizzy Lizzy Well DC is doing a Green Lantern core movie which is coming out in 2020. They also doing a movie based on supervillains called the Suicide Squad which is being released in 2016. We also getting a movie based on a Goddess set in World War 2 and a King that resides in depths of the ocean. We are getting a Flash movie, a movie based on a character whose a cyborg. We are also getting a movie based on SHAZAM, The Rock is playing Black Adam which a villain to SHAZAM
So don't worry DC's movie universe is going to get a whole lot more exciting and weird just like Marvels.

Dkrtzy - A math equation that became a green lantern
Throg - A college football player was turned into a frog when he didn't pay a gypsy. He helped Frog Thor during the frog/rat war and was given powers.
Hate Monger - A masked man who attempted to build a Hate Ray but was thwarted by the Fantastic 4. His secret identity was Hitler.
Kiteman - He knocked out batman by throwing a kite at him. Want more? His name is Charlie Brown. Instant badass.
Turtle Man - A Flash villain who tricked Flash into running into a brick wall by painting his shadow near an opposing wall. He prides himself in being called "The Slowest Man Alive".
Paste Pot Pete - Once covered the Human Torch and glue and got away by sticking to the wing of a plane and divided into the sea. He would later take on the boring name of the Trapster.
Karnak - Most. Underrated. Superhero. Ever. He is an Inhuman with the power to see the weakness in anything. An object. A plan. A person. He could kick you in seven different pressure points or make you cry to death by pulling on one too many heart strings.

Okay, so how about a game theory about how everyone in the smash bros universe are actually robots. I don't have a whole lot of info to back this up, but I've got a decent starting thought: The playable fighter Shulk who debuted in Xenoblade Chronicles has a weapon called "the menado" (I forget if that's how it's spelled or not), and according to XC lore, the menado is a blade which can only harm artificial beings. If that's the case, none of the fighters should be taking damage from this sword (excluding ROB and other purposely artificial fighters). Now if the fighters were actually robots, that would make more sense, given how no one bleeds or bruises from the punches they take. Just a thought, what do you theorists of the comment section think?
One problem with that theory, the Monado can actually damage organic creatures through the entire game. Sure, in the canon and lore they say it can't hurt organic creatures and only machines, but in game, that's completely false.
Um... This is technically a spoiler so....
The Monado can harm more than just artificial being as it can harm other monsters that aren't part robot. That's not the real spoiler as otherwise the first part of the game would take ages as Shulk only equips the Monado throughout and Mechon aren't the only enemies. However, here come the real spoilers, the Monado cannot harm people. The creator of the Mechon figures this out and so decides to put living people (albeit slightly modified) into large elite Mechon. These Mechon cannot be harmed by the Monado at its basic form as it cannot harm people. But Shulk eventually has the Monado awaken one of its true powers: the ability to harm people. He is then able to use the Monado on faced Mechon and other people if necessary... Which becomes kind of important later on.
They're toys. You find that out when you beat the very first game and your character is literally shown to be a toy on a desk. Did you never wonder why the final bosses are always hands?
SanjiTyloxion You're correct. A quick look around online shows that it can't hurt Homs. Since no one outside of Shulk is technically a Hom, the Monado is capable of hurting them.
Don't over think it. It's just a game about picking your favorite character and trying to kick some but.
