    Good review. I plan to get the updated Superb in Jan 2020 im looking at the 2.0 Tdi 190bhp.
    The warranty is a 3yr one up to 150000km.
    It alot better better than VWs 90000km 3yr warranty.
    Might get the the Hybrid version yet depending on price.

    As the owner of a MK2 elegance superb estate I can hands down say it does everything I want of it and more. I will for sure be swapping it for a L&K or Sportline MK3 estate when the time comes to change. I also love the look of the Octavia scouts but just like the bit of extra room the superb gives.

      Christal Kleva well I thought that also myself until I went and seen one in the flesh at my local Skoda dealers. But all the black “sporty” trim pieces I would prefer in chrome like on the L&K and it isn’t an option to change them unless I bought them individually and did it myself which I don’t want the hassle to do. I want a black MK3 and black on black just looks like a boy racers or drug dealers car to me tbh.

    Happened across this looking for other information. You could do with putting the specifications of car you are drivingin the notes section.
    I own a Superb III 2.0 TDI 190 estate SE Executive. I love it to bits. Everyone comments how comfortable and smooth it is.
    Yes the boot is huge, our two rottweilers happily lie down in it, and with a dog buggy for the parents in law lap dog, which sits in the back with them. We have so much room, it was a marvellous investment.
    I use it for towing, which is does with ease, and the 7 speed DSG box gives me around 40mpg around town, 30 towing. On the motorway I've hit 70 on the motorway, when it's fairly flat.
    We did consider the Octavia estate, but I'm glad I spent a bit more time and money looking round for an ex demo superb. Possibly the best car anyone in my family has owned.

    Love the chiselled good looks. There are US reports that BMW intend charging $80 per year subscription for access to Car Play. Great to have a value proposition in this sector to keep the likes of BMW on their toes.

    • @StephenButlerOne
      @StephenButlerOne Před 6 lety

      Des Byrne BMW would still get away with this. Their sheep would happily pay then justify it to themselves somehow.
      If you're a BMW and an iPhone person, you're seriously in the follower and no imagination crowd, just wanting to 'fit in'.
      Plus bang a BMW sign on the bootup splash screen, and its worth twice £80 all day. 🙈🙊

    • @BobFlavinVideo
      @BobFlavinVideo  Před 6 lety +2

      I can't imagine BMW charging a yearly for carplay, I'd say it's the other services it's bundled in with like BMW connect and all that. If they wanted to be paid for CarPlay they could swing for it

    Im in Scotland and have owned a 2013 Superb SE+ 1.6TDI hatchback since the end of March 2023 and its simply one of the best cars ive owned in many years .... Changed from a 2007 Octavia L&K 2 litre TDI Hatch and whilst the Superb dirsnt have as many extras its still the better car as the space inside is huge .... My son's 6'1" and can stretch out behind me whereas in thd Octavia id to move the seat forward making it a wee bit uncomfortable for myself on a long journey and his knees still pressed into my back ..... Even in 2013 there was no USB as standard which was a glaring omission as it came with a MIDI cinnection to coonect an old scholl IPod to it with thd big 30pin plug .... Luckily an E-bay search turned up a USB adaptor that could replace it and i know stream all my music through it on a 128GB memory stick rather than stream it with Bluetooth

  • @davidhayes4814

    What is clever about the Skoda Superb is how light it is, for a massive car. If you compare it with other cars, it is something like 250 kg lighter, even in massive 280 ps spec. This means that a 1.4 150 ps petrol has more than enough poke and is really cheap. Pity my kids hate me and have all left home. If I had a family again, I would buy the estate 1.4 version. F*** it I’d buy the 280 PS Estate one. It’ faster than my GTI

  • @torresalex
    @torresalex Před 6 lety +3

    I can't get my head around how good the skoda superb is. Unless it's proven to have shoddy reliability, it's pretty much a bulletproof choice of car

  • @darrenrobbins8356
    @darrenrobbins8356 Před 5 lety +2

    No almost or probably about it. This is the best car in the world. I have the 280 4X4 exec with 6 speed DSG and it’s quick and comfortable. I will be tuning it when the warranty is out, to 400 bhp by chipping and changing exhaust. Ok so I rarely get better than 24 to the gallon but I drive it quick and it just goes. Cheap servicing and 100% reliable. Give it a go.

  • @GaryGSF
    @GaryGSF Před 6 lety +50

    I'm sure I will upset the Audi fans again but why does anyone spend the extra money for an A6 if only for the badge. That's a really nice car.

    • @Peterman-qw4dn
      @Peterman-qw4dn Před 6 lety +7

      I'm not upset, but really? It offers much more options and comfort. Just for the interior the A6 is worth every penny. It just looks awesome with those S-Line packages. Also you can order a 3.0 TDI, something you should definitely order. As you can see in the video, while accelerating normal the RPM is always above 2000. With 3.0 you do this with max 1400. The list goes on and on. And its the same with 5er and E class. I see if you must have an eye on money the Skoda might be the better option.

    • @GaryGSF
      @GaryGSF Před 6 lety

      Granted the upper range models in the Audi have more than the Skoda. It is something I have always appreciated but for the budget conscious driver the Skoda offers comparable cars to the lower range of the A6 at a much more favourable price. I suppose it is a matter of taste too. I am self confessed Skoda fan so maybe I have a bit of bias even though I do not have one at the minute. I nearly bought a Kodiaq recently. Another great car. There are no really bad cars out there now. I take from your user name you are from the same era as I am. It is hard to believe we are debating the merits of the modern Skoda from the tragic 1980's Estelles and Rapids.

    • @Rajupkd
      @Rajupkd Před 6 lety +7

      Mr Gary : yes you are right no need to spend that extra as Superb gives everything . Me too Skoda owner and really enjoying it. Tnx for your comments which gave me extra confidence .

    • @vlatkomafija
      @vlatkomafija Před 6 lety

      GaryGSF I don’t own neither Skoda nor Audi but the comparison is a joke.starting from interior quality and the build quality to bigger engines as well as sound insulation and drive comfort (there is nothing similar in the suspension between a6 and superb). These are the things that make differences between car classes and therefore between a superb and A6 or A4 for that matter.

    • @filippxx
      @filippxx Před 6 lety +2

      Not an Audi fan here, but if you drive a Superb and an A6 and you don't get it why the Audi is worth more money, I think you might be slightly blind or deaf. Superb is awfully loud in the back, the sound insulation there is simply not sufficient for a car aiming at entry level premium segment. The suspension is also very noisy, significantly more than in the Passat.

    Has anybody thought about where does the rear passenger knee room comes from in Superb? I've been sitting on the front passenger seat and tried to comfortably stretch my outside leg and found there's no room for it! Where there should be space, there's wheel fender stealing space. I had to keep the leg to the middle in unnatural position, unaligned with my upper body. In a car of that size... Just poor...and NO REVIEWER ever foud that as a letdown. Strange.

      I'd call it a VW that's actually worth the asking price. Seat is the other brand to look at for VW parts bin cars at realistic prices. I love my Mk 2 Superb - the estate boot is big enough to carry a full size washing machine without even needing to fold the rear seats, as I discovered when I bought a washing machine in Cork and needed to transport it to Limerick. I use it to carry bikes all the time. With the rear seats folded it'll take a fully assembled mountain bike with plenty of room to spare...

    Hello.
    I am happy that there exist users of this car with happy reports. But personally i won't buy this car agar (or marque) again. We have 2.0 tsi 280 hp 4x4 verision. Engine is seriously great, very fast and economic and also very silent. Nice sounds during acceleration.
    But my issues is to other elecronic and suspension problems. We had a very annoying issue with whistling A/C fan. We had to drive car for month and had to reproduce this issue 4 times to dealer unti he finally solved this. Also at 140 km/h (85 mph), there is really big noise coming from wheels and suspensions - probabbly they ttried to save something on isolation and make difference between VW passat and audi A4. Also, during slow bumps, suspension squeaks.
    Another thing broke last week - led backlight on one of the doors. Then there are problems with constant infoentertaintment freezing. And another thing - TPMS reports tire punctuaction after 20 kilmeters even when tire pressure is same ! VERY ANNOYING.
    I think any buyer would be much more satistified with used Audi A6 / BMW 5/ Mercedes E-klasse for half price of this shit car you can get 4-year old premium car. BTW i also own Eklasse '97 (so 20 YEAR OLD) car and have ALOT LESS problems with it !!!

    Is there a cd player in modern cars ?? for example the skoda range or is it all music via your phone

    • @BobFlavinVideo
      @BobFlavinVideo  Před 6 lety +2

      There's only a CD in a few of them these days. It is an option to fit a multi-cd player in the glove box on most VW cars but head units are few and far between. I miss CD's

      On my 2010 Octavia, and probably on most modern cars, there's a slot for an SD card. I use a 32 GB card on which I've got 20 odd CD and room for a whole lot more: that sure beats any onboard CD player.

    LOL come to Australia and I'll let you drive my Holden Caprice. I had high hopes for the Superb as a limo, but the Caprice is far Superior IMHO -wider, longer, and much QUIETER. Unfortunately Holden have shut down local manufacturing, so there will be no more Caprices made, which is a crying shame. I have no idea what I'll get next time - the only cars with the same size and luxury cost 4 to 5 times as much.

    • @4ebees
      @4ebees Před 6 lety

      wider, longer, more expensive to buy and more expensive to run...

      No, this is a family cruiser, if you want a bit faster driving there is a Skoda Superb Sportline which is a bit more "sporty", but still this is a family cruiser.

    How much to fill the tank in the Skoda superb....

    • @StephenButlerOne
      @StephenButlerOne Před 6 lety

      Derek Norris if its anything like the Octavia, not a great amount, give its tine 50l tank. It's the one thing holding me back from the petrol vrs.
      My current car gets between 31 and 36mpg and has a 55l tank that drive me mad. The vrs will get 25-30mpg and have a smaller 50l. My old car got 55mpg and had a 75l tank. It made your eyes water (especally as fuel was over £1.40l back then) but it could drive from the northwest of eng to paris on a single tank, getting 60-65 on the motoway. My current car can't break 40 on the motorway.
      I don't like filling up

    • @dereknorris2376
      @dereknorris2376 Před 6 lety

      I have a skoda Octavia vrs diesel 184 bhp it not the best on fuel ..I love the car but fuel wise it not the best ..I ha fill it up and only got 390 km for it

    • @StephenButlerOne
      @StephenButlerOne Před 6 lety +1

      Derek Norris totally feel you. i love the vrs, both diesel and petrol, But if you want the fun, its gonna cost at the pump. I don't mind that, but id love it to have a 75l tank. Yes will be expensive to fill, but would mean fewer trips the station. Probably one less a month.
      I fill my car, then run it almost dry. I've cut it close a few times. My 55litre tank (too small for the 175bhp GTC, will get 400miles on a good week) more than once has ive fitted in 53 and 54 litres, meaning i was probably 6 miles from stranded. And that was brimming it.
      My old laguna 2004 1.9d 120bhp got an average of 55mpg over the time i had it. And on long runs could get 1000miles out of a tank full. I miss that, and the fact it was an estate. I love an estate, the vrs estate would be perfect for me. Well an RS6 would be perfect, but far less realistic

    • @BobFlavinVideo
      @BobFlavinVideo  Před 6 lety +1

    Fine lovely car with all the bells and whistles, but the problem is too many electronics, DPF, ADBLUE and EGR Cooler valve and so much rubbish to go wrong in the future and cost a absolute fortune to get fixed, over engineered dung, not like cars from 20 or 30 years ago that when they break down they where a lot cheaper to fix

    • @4ebees
      @4ebees Před 6 lety +1

      Cars 30 years ago were not that reliable unless you had VW bug or something similar.
      Besides DPF reduces environmental pollution, ADBLUE reduces pollution, EGR reduces pollution.
      Are you saying that reducing pollution and therefore improving the quality of air we breath AND reducing the ill health effects is 'rubbish'?

Dealer rips you off. £4300 for DPF and EGR replacement I have quoted. I would Never ever touch VW group again. You fall the car because it's good looking and spacious but engine is terrible and very expensive repairs

      ezys3215 hmmm. I think the exact oposite. I think that bored 80-hour work-week deskpeople need audies, bmw and alfa's for some kind of exitement and showoffbooost tocover up for all the uninspiring and boring hours, and artists, travellers, musicians just need a car like this, their life is too exited too worrie about something as a carbrand. But to be clear I would love an alfa giulia, or an merc 300td estate from 1977. And to be honest I like a lot of cars, superb included.
