Skoda Superb review - What Car?

- The Skoda Superb is bigger than most large executive cars, yet is cheaper than many family cars. It’s also generously equipped, has a classy cabin and should be painless to own, so is an excellent choice.
The Superb has a hugely spacious, high-quality interior. It’s also competitively priced, well equipped and offers a wide range of economical, tax-efficient engines. However, its suspension struggles to stay settled on battered UK roads and other family cars are more fun to drive.
What do you think of the Skoda Superb? Let us know in the comments below!

Honestly, one of the best value-for-money cars out there. For its price, its just a perfect all-arounder!
Great-looking, affordable, comfortable, practical and darn economical.
i agree. i have the VRS model, its a sports car and a family car at the same time
It's decently reliable too
+What Car? Could you please list the cars or attach links if you have reviewed the cars that you feel have a better price/performance comparison. I think you called them the "mainstream" cars, i am looking for a new vehicle about this size and want the best value for money.
You forgot to talk about all the simply clever features, although you did cover them visually.
Nice alternative of B6. At least Skoda is good after 2014
Post collision breaking? Not sure that's a particularly useful feature!!!! Great looking car though.
Isn't the Superb a rival to the 5 series and E-class??
it almost could be but I think in terms of size, It would rival against 3 series and C class and A4 but mainly on the Mondeo, Passat, Mazda6, etc.
+James Gordon Price wise it's competes against the mondeo and the likes, but it's actually slightly bigger than even a 5 series or E-classe
Paul Hojda I know. Which is probably why the Skoda Superb is multi-award winning :)
+James Gordon 3 series is a very small car indeed
1.6 tdi 5 speed in the superb estate should have never been made
I know someone who is seriously considering this over the new Jag XF due to it being about £10,000 cheaper!!!
Definitely not £10000 worse as well.
As a taxi driver, I have to say this is probably the ideal private hire drivers taxi. Plenty of rear leg room, which customers always notice, massive boot and a pleasure to drive. I need this in a hybrid please Skoda and please be proud that taxi drivers love Skoda, don't be ashamed.
Hybrid coming this summer. Full electric range 70 km
Something to be aware of if you are a private second-hand buyer!
Buyer beware.
Got 1.4 petrol hatch 7 gear auto. Good looking, smooth and refined, fabulous car, Newcastle to lands end just over half tank. Driving on motorway its a Bentley, no that bit not true but not bloody far of it
I assume your talking about the superb? Hatchback? I'm considering the 1.4 superb but have worries about it being underpowered. That fuel range sounds amazing.
5:28 did you say "Post Collision Breaking System"?
What the fuck
well...if you hit something and get knocked the fuck out, at least the car will stop on its own instead of falling down into a river or running into the nearest tree thanks to its momentum.
"68.9 mpg AVG"
What the fuck? Scooters drink more than that
this nonsense bout feed back and handling on a front wheel drive 4 door family saloon car is mad,its designed for space comfort and practality, and to be reliable and fuel efficent etc,all of which it is.
Now the Automatic gear needs replacement. Looks like I am done with SUperb. Now looking for Toyota SUV or VW Tiguan.
get maunual
damn this is actually a pretty decent car, the rear lights look similar to audis
They share the same parts.
***** The Superb is part of the VW group. It shares its parts with cars such as the new Audi A4 and A3.
And that's what's important.
That because Audi and Skoda are both under VW ownership
The Superb car battery collapsed in 8 months and replacement battery also died in 6 months, that much for OEM supplied battery. The AC refrigerant has leaked and now company says wait for 2 weeks till they get the replacement pipes and connectors.other than these “niggling” head aches, the car is really a great comfort zone to live in and travel long distances.
It's massive
Škoda ftw :D
or you take the octavia, more than enough space and way cheaper.
Superb is way better looking and not that much more expensive
@@miska2177 at least 1/3 expensiver 😉
ha ha ha. Have you ever driven C class or 3 series? Superb is more like E class or a6 or 5 series but on a budget. You can compare modern superb with previous-gen premium brands and then it will all make sense. C class and 3 series are completely different cars. You can compare them only by price
What a car.
hey vw sell this in america as the passat because you don't know how to build a good mid sized car.
US wont get it.
i can dream
kurt roepke Yeah. We had a Skoda for 16 years and still drive it. Great car!
They know how to do it, they made the Superb as well as all the other Skodas and Seats out there. It's just that the VW brand doesn't have that much of a good reputation in the states compared to Japanese brands which have the upper hand in the mid sized car segment. For this reason if VW was to export it's European version of Passat it would be too costly compared to Japanese cars (as it is in Europe). So they opt to revamp the previous generation of European Passat to cut the costs, add a few bells and whistles to modernize it and there it is - a car that lags behind, but is comparable in price with the competition. And that my friend, sells easier with VW badge than with Skoda badge. In Europe VW has it's domestic buyers, and a long reputation of making good vehicles that led to them being overpriced and still sold by the millions. Now why they don't just re-badge the Skodas and sell them as VW there is beyond me. Probably because an outdated Passat with few of the modern systems is cheaper to make than the Superb, or because people would consider them to be cheaters... again :)
V.A.G. group new what they are doing when they acquired SKODA oh yes! worked out great all round, all the Financial Power and R +D of V.A.G. pumped into SKODA, result = Quality German cars for the people ! VOLKSWAGON = PEOPLES - CAR !
The Superb is not a rival for Mondeo's and Passat's, the Octavia is.
not true. i also thought so but actually octavia is in class with vw golf, ford focus etc.
@@Adi-megatron not true. That's fabia and/or rapid.
@@spider-scott8438 I thought fabia was in the same class as polo
VW really needs to innovate more. most of their cars offer nothing amazing. only tesla seems to do cool stuff.
+hyylo VW is on the top of hydrogen hymotion cars along with Toyota. Golfs, Passats, Polos all are ready for production. It is not easy however to build a hydrogen stations grid so for now on they are not manufactured.
hydrogen? lol. they have been using the 'hydrogen' marketing talk for over 50 years.
if hydrogen was the answer companies like Apple and Tesla will be making them instead of using electric battery cars.
+hyylo Hydrogen in cars is fairly new, compared to electric cars which are pretty cliché along with petrol, diesel, hybrid, plugging hybrids, etc.
@hyylo Do you rly need "cool stuff" when you drive a nice car with a lot of space for everyone, comfortable, pretty cheap and with the usual useful technology ? I don't think so.
so tired of this same interior in the skodas, Seats and Volkswagens. it's so yawn.
I agree!
It's the same with Audi and bmw, it's supposed to be "minimalist" or something and makes their variant date more slowly
It's actually more expensive that the equivalent Passat...
no, the Superb starts at £18k, Passat starts at £22k and less equipped
VolvoXC90TV cuz its better :D
no ?
I managed to get the Passat business class cheaper.
BMW 3 its bigger than the 5,the back is bigger than a s class, get your facts right.
