    I did the hole/valve fix on mine.
    After fixing all the holes, I have a tank that looks like a giant Bagpipe !! 😄🤣😅😂😏

    I have a 75 gallon vertical tank with a 1.5” burn hole, 12” up from the bottom due to an exhaust pipe being too close. You think the jelly kit will work? I use the tank for gravity fed fresh water.

    I Like the hole saw Idea, I'm going to use that idea and instead of a valve, I will just have a bulkhead fitting with a plug.

    Is the patch still holding since 2016 when you uploaded this video?

    to test it, i put 40 lbs of pressure. it held fine.

    Valve would work if you can reach the inside of the hole to install the bulkhead fitting for the valve to attach to.

    How does the valve seal? (What kind of valve would you use - from Home Depot, for example?) Thanks!

    • @thomasbriansavingmoney
      @thomasbriansavingmoney  Před 7 lety

      the valve will have one rubber gasket. it must be placed on the inside of the tank, ive put them on the out side of the valve and they never seal right. yes any hardware store will have them, just make sure the are as big as the hole. you dont want it a little small, it wont seal right as well. thanks for watching.

    Thank you for the video!! How much pressure do you pump up the tank to? How long has the patch lasted?

    • @thomasbriansavingmoney
      @thomasbriansavingmoney  Před 7 lety +1

      actually . i use it for gravity fed. but im sure it will hold 10 lbs easily. most faucets are only 7 lbs of pressure. i m,ade this video 6 months ago, and it still is working great!! thanks for watching.

    I have a crack at the bottom on the side, right in the middle of my 330 poly tank. Right on the seam, will this work on that crack, literally all the pressure from a full tank of water would be on that

    A small enough hole could be repaired with 2 stainless fender washers, a stainless screw and nut ...drill a hole that eliminates the hole as being a crack ...put washer with rubber gasket on each side with screw passing through and a stainless lock nut on the other side...maybe a nylon washer on the inside if worried about weepage ...but it would seriously be so little...and if it is just water? who cares if leaked one drop a day

    "...small flakes of the polyurethane..."
    These tanks are made from polyethylene.

      What would you use to patch a 2 inch hole on one of these tanks? I can't put available on it because it sits on the trailer where the hole is at.

    Fairly sure this fiberglass resin jelly isn’t intended for polyethylene

  • @CaliforniaOutdoorsman

    Well I wasted 22 bucks trying this method on my freshwater rv tank that had a leak in the corner
    I did all the prep meticulously and used fiberglass cloth as well to reinforce it.
    I waited overnight to test it but as soon as I filled it up it started leaking
    I was able to pull the entire patch right off
    I have tried everything... JB waterweld, two part epoxy pool putty, even wasted my money flexseal which was garbage
    I'm going to buy some polyethylene welding rod and try that
    A new tank is 800 bucks and another 500 install

    • @CaliforniaOutdoorsman
      @CaliforniaOutdoorsman Před 4 lety

      @@caseG80 I tried everything, two different plastic welders, every type of glue and sealant.
      Finally I just took it to a place and brand new tanks put in

    Call a professional plastic welding service, whatever you do don't use fibreglass or resins or glues. There are better ways, but the tools aren't cheap.

      what !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! your recommendations are to hire someone to repair something you can fix yourself. if man made it, you can bet your ass a man can fix it. man up wimp, don't ever tell someone its best to spend their hard earned cash on something another man can do. like your self !!!!!!!!!! dumbest comment i have ever got out of 5 million views..........

      @timmarrier Před 5 lety

      As long as it will never see typical city water pressures, like >50psi. Only because the epoxy is _not_ bonding at the molecular level like you'd want a 'true' fix to be. !
