Props to Saber Interaction from breaking free from Embracer Group, the entire company blew so much money buying ips and studios that it forget creating good games takes years of work and money.
To me its more like Embracer Group was banking too hard with the potential Billion dollars investor sooo hard they bought studios left and right with that mentality of winning, not realize the possibility of losing by factors of the bad studios they acquired that could damage that possibility, or it was going to be a fail deal regardless.
They were expecting investment from a Saudi sovereign wealth fund to bankroll their buying spree.
The Saudis then officially pulled out of the deal, and here we are.
This has already been reported. That’s why they thought they could make these insanely huge purchases.
I just wish Eidos Montreal and Free Radical had the money to have freed themselves from Embracer before they were gutted
I can't believe it's taken this long for studios to start leaving. You'd think Embracer would be having a fire sale, selling off developers at big discounts in a desperate attempt to get some cash. If I were Sony or Microsoft, I would have been on the phone with Embracer months ago trying to buy some studios from them for below market value. Or hell, offer to give them the $2 billion they need in exchange for a % of the company and a first look deal for exclusive rights to every game they make. That would give you dozens of potential exclusive games. Terrible deal for Embracer, but if they're desperate enough, they'd do it.
Now we can only hope that BioWare can find a way to break free from EA.

Enotria’s delay was a smart move. Seems like a cool title and seeing it fail for the obvious clash with the Elden Ring dlc would have been a shame.

my family, specifically my dad, loved dark age of Camelot. the pvp and massive battles were amazing at the time and elder scrolls online took inspiration from DAoC for it. also fun fact bioware ended up being in charge of it during its final years.
actually, Zenimax went out of their way to hire some of the people responsible for DAoCs Realm Vs Realm content; that is why ESO has such good pvp.
@@woodwyrm ESO in general is super underrated tbh. But I can see why, first impressions are important, and the game was BROKEN and empty at launch, only got really good a few years in with all the additions/changes/bug fixes

Listened to the audiobook this weekend for the first Dune book. "A lasgun-shield explosion was a dangerous variable, could be more powerful than atomics, could kill only the gunner and his shielded target." So, Alex example of sniping Other Joe on top of his base would lead to taking himself out and possibly not the base.
Still seems like a safety feature that could work in universe to prevent the feedback.

I only recently heard about Enotria (The Italian Souls-like they were talking about) and was wondering how they’d deal with releasing on the same day as Shadow of the Erdtree… I don’t blame em for delaying the release. I do hope that game turns out good, as I really do love the Italian fantasy aesthetic.

That dude is the only reason why I started to get Into the Three Body Problem.
I backed CU five years ago... was beginning to wonder if it would ever come out. Granted, I have not yet gone into the beta I've had access to for the last five years so. But the mass battle thing should be functioning, they've done tests with hundreds of players in them already at one place. I cant remember the exact numbers, but they were impressive.
It took them a long time to get an engine up to snuff that could do that though, which is one reason it is in development hell.
They should combine sand walking with sliding across/down dunes etc, that way it can look/feel right yet be faster than shown in any of the movies.
The thing that interests me most about helldivers is of it will effect Sony’s strategy with its other live service games. Most of their catalogue is said to be live service going forward.
If that catalogue can be anything like the helldivers model the ill be more than happy.
Opera GX is ok, but they also don't fix problems encountered with many users, like the other browsers.
I'm so excited for Star Wars Battlefront collection. I had both games on Console but I didn't have an internet connection so I was never able to play them online just on Split-screen with a buddy. I'm looking forward to the 32v32 online matches.

I don't know anything about the dune franchise, never really had any interest in it, but i do know that a desert is a great place for a survival game. Water and resources are scarce, the sun is a deadly enemy, and (in this case in particular) there are sand worms...like in Beetlejuice. So, that sounds like fun if you like survival games and i do.
Thing is, if all you see is desert everywhere you go, it won't last.
@@murderedcarrot9684 eh, ark had a desert level that was pretty fun. Follow dry riverbeds, dig for underground springs, look for caves, etc. It's all part of the package.

There's a game that did "Magic FPS" extremely well.
It's called Hexen.
Came out in 1995.
Didn't need a story, had one, don't remember it. What it had was great "gunplay" mechanics and interesting puzzles for preteen me back then. And there has been some really good modern spiritual successors among indie games recently such as Amid Evil. Even Lichdom has better gameplay than Immortals of Aveum, and that was mostly a shovelware demo for AMD's TressFX hair rendering tech that never got adopted because it ran poorly on the market dominant Nvidia graphics cards even though it was actually good.

The immortals of Aveum Devs need to take a time an play their own game to notice how underwhelming it was. If they want to blame release schedules they should check Lies of P an small Korean Dev team that created a game that a lot of people played and came out 2 weeks after BG3 and Starfiel, the same day that MK 1 and a weel before Cyberpunk DLC. And that game did not fail like that.

honestly daoc is like one of the most underrated mmos of the past i feel like - yes it was super niche and had growing pains but the core was pretty solid. And then came WoW ...

NEWS - Sins of a Solar Empire 2 is on EPIC, its in alpha atm but it is playable with two factions already out. This was such a beloved stardock back in the day, maybe give us news on this.
They must have modeling issues with the skeleton doing a sandwalk. I doubt they aren't trying to do it lore accurately

I so want them to remake "Trespasser" as a survival game.
Dune Awakening is Funcom, so expect battle passes, in game stores with garbage currencies, and exploitative DLC for a fully priced game.
Don't forget, if the game is actually pretty decent and has unique elements then eventually they'll decide to patch/"remaster" it and mess it up completely...
I'll never forgive them for what they did to Secret World with that stupid Legends update.

To be clear, this extra funding for camelot isn't due to the game self, but the engine, they've essentially taken backers money and developed an engine with it, that's been their priority, and that's what investors are interested in, the game is an afterthought

They are as dead as general live service is dead tops... Yet they still try making those... The problem is good MMO'S are live service, and people are done/burnt out/broke because of that model. People still like the games we just lack the time for a bunch of them, you either pick one or float through the general tutorial stage and bounce.

Italian Souls changing their release date so as not to get crushed by long-awaited Elden Ring DLC is a good decision. Just wish that Team Ninja would do the same with Rise of The Ronin because its gonna get smashed by Dragon's Dogma 2 if they don't change their release date.

@stimswwolf7867 Age of Conan was an overhyped letdown of an MMO that promised a ton of ambitious features & failed to deliver plus they only ever released one expansion pack for Age of Conan. Every other Conan game that Funcom has made has been just as dull & uninspired as well.

Hell divers still feels like it wasnt launched to a complete state, missing 3rd faction, mechs, and vehicles. Pretty major bugs like armor not working, it could have prob used another 6 months
I'm not bothered by missing content as they're already announced to be added later.
I'm more bothered that it felt incomplete by how unpolished the backend/software actually is.
Game keeps crashing, disconnecting, freezing. Bugs that prevents people from getting reinforced while in game, bugs that keeps kicking people out of the party.
Infinite loading black screen, etc etc.
They have fixed server capacity but there's more important issues that needs to get fixed before I get bothered by missing content.
It's the biggest game in the world right now. It seems like they launched at the perfect time.
I know early access helps devs a lot but I hate when games stay in early access for months or years and then launch a more polished and complete game but it’s still a game that everyone played and nothing is fresh and u need to wait for full launch unless you don’t mind all the bugs or buying an early access to just one section in a larger game etc.

Thanks for reminding me that Immortals of Avada Kedavra still exists. I keep forgetting that game even came out a while ago which is probably why it failed so hard. Saber Interactive going independent reminded me of another story. Toys For Bob are apparently going indie. After being under the boot of Activision Blizzard for so long working in the CoD mines, they are finally going independent. They are still gonna be working with Microsoft but they'll be working on their stuff which is such a breath of fresh air from so many stories of layoffs and game companies going under.
Can't they just make the Dune sand walking look like skating? And instead of nuke explosions, they're "small" (nuke) explosions.

I disagree with Alex on things :P Dune's books are great, all 6 from Frank Herbert. The only problem with Chapterhouse/Heretics is that they are ultimately setting up for something big that he never finished and what his son did wasn't as interesting as we'd hope from if Frank Herbert wrote it.
That being said, I think Brian Herbert's books aren't bad either, just not as good, but they are fun Sci Fi. The "Butlerian Jihad" series would be REALLY fun HBO level series imo.
A Dune game but written and as expansive as Red Dead 2 and that you can play offline. Now, that's a great idea.
So basically, Greedfall 2 devs decided they are not spending on professional testers and make us pay to work for them... Ironic with a title like that... The first game was surprisingly good, but highly unpolished. Hope they improve in the second

Lot of lay offs going on and that's scary. I know it's just to line the pockets of the share holders but I truly hope both video games and movies eventually stop caring about their share holders and start caring about their audience. Because share holders will dump their stocks when the company gets low enough but audiences will pay more if they know they are cared for and catered to. It's just so sad that the industry can't see that.
Sony put Steel Rising as one of their PS+ games last month so I've been playing it lately. It's not bad. Can't believe they didn't sue Lies of P for plagiarism lol. Lies of P is much better, but holy hell do they look extremely similar with similar concepts. One of my issues with Steel Rising is the fact that you could literally beat the game without fighting a single regular enemy. You have to do the boss fights, but other than that, you can run right through the entire game without having to engage once. As soon as i beat it I'm going to look for videos of people doing that. It had to have happened.

You may not know this but they actually took the kickstarter money and made a Chinese Mobile game with it.
P.S. DAOC was the greatest MMO to ever exist.
sure IoA was close to BG3 the real problem however was that the game was nowhere near BG3
immortals of aveum had the oppurtunity to trounce starfield as an action fps. starfield was boring as crap but even so better than. one of my favorite things about dark age of camelot was a the title system. if you killed enough skeletons for example, like thosuands and thousands, eventually any skeleton that you encounter would actually run away from you.
