Wasn't the program that shafted him it was the human manipulation of the program and client to overly benefit yourself....sweet old used car salesman trick...YA GOT HIM!!!😂
You guys are AWFUL. How would it EVER be fair market value when you guys are IN BED with PSA?!. THIS IS DISGUSTING
Guy - "I don't know cards from a can of paint." Same Guy - "So what I'd like to do is find the most valuable ones and send them to PSA."
Yeah this guys a phoney bologne. He makes Geoff likable which is a feat in itself
So a guy who knows nothing about cards now thinks their worth 3k ? Lol
He was probably looking online and just seeing prices.
The cards online were probably graded, so he thought his cards were worth that.
He made the same mistake that 99.9 % of non collectors would make….Not the end of the world, but he found out about reality in the offer.
All is well that ends well…
Everyone went home happy.
They do a whole break down on camera and he comes back at 3x the estimation. I guess it got him an extra $275 and a Darryl Strawberry rookie lol
Well he proved himself right . . .
what a train wreck, bad deal. Rick from Pawn Stars would have called a buddy and gotten the set for $200😂
That was painful
Should had just passed on the cards
nah shouldve stood firm on $1k, that dude was ready to fold the second he started talking about dying with them in his garage.
Seriously. The seller had zero emotional connection to the cards. He just wanted money.
"I appreciate you trusting us with your collection." The dude just sold you cards that he supposedly found in an attic and were supposedly sitting around for 20 years that he says he forgot all about. Let's not get all sentimental here if you want us to believe the back story of all this.
Just found them yet all in team order
I have cards from when I was 6 years old. My father’s best friend was dying of cancer when I lived in New York he gave me his whole Yankees collection from when he was a kid. I have a Topps 1952 Mickey Mantle card I actually have two one graded a PAA 8 the other a 4 I have rookies of all of the Yankees including Ruth DiMaggio Rizzuto Berra Gehrig and so on. I left that home in New York in 1980 to go to California and my collection was in the Attic and my mother and father brought it with them. The collection could have easily stayed in the attic.
That deal was done for the channel 100% u were nice to give em 1275 and those cards he has no idea how Lucky he was with all the time and resources to sell those things
Haggling over $25 then offering store credit to the guy who said many times he doesn’t care about cards lollllllll that was so top notch negotiating !
For that condition stuff. $500 max. Gonna have 300$ in grading fees and then a bunch of 1$ common cards with creases Not really that exciting of a lot.
The negotiation.. the background music and out of focus shots.. It's wild they were like yeah this looks good post it!
Exactly that was way too much for that collection
it was really a whole lotta nothin
I wouldn't offer a penny over $500 for the entire lot. A lot of that is dead money
maybe 250....500 is even too much
Sounds like a made up story to me
100 percent
So Jeff doesn't know the years off the top of his head on these pretty common year cards? How do you not know 1970 Football or 1969 Basketball or 1971 Baseball?
No, he is clueless just like his idiot worker. Depend on a computer to tell them what they have
Yeah, seems problematic for the owner of a hobby shop. Future not looking so bright for Cards HQ.
He has shown time and time again. He is clueless
You answered your own question. He also said the 2 Joe's he pulled would probably be a 1 😂 Let's just slab them as authentic.
Personally, I would've let him walk and stayed firm at $1250, I think the time, labor and work to get these cards prepped and put it out is a lot and your offer was already fair. The fact that he kept almost threatening you by saying he would just put them back in storage are the people I hate dealing with the most. Let him go somewhere else where they'll offer him $500 or better yet let him sit on them and maybe get $500 more in 20 years. Love your videos but this guy just made me so annoyed LOL
Yep. Hard to see condition, so thinking most of these grade 4 and 5. I’d pass.
"I'm not a collector" "I know nothing about cards" but i think its worth 50% more
lol at the end “you owe me a little case for my friend here” he’s just gimme gimme gimme, I would have sent him packing right away. Annoying ass
I would have told Carlos "$300 and no free case....take it or leave it"
Lmao
Having some vintage in the store is cool for the customers . The bulk rate was fair because I saw a few in there that will go 10x to 20x but 500 of them will 2X and maybe 100 will 3- 5X. Overall not a lot of profit considering the amount of time to sell the majority but I think it's good to have variety in a store that grand. The graded vintage will work out for people wanting an affordable mid grade of a favorite card that would be out of their budget. I think Geoff was thinking this adds 600 vintage cards to the store more so than a large profit.
he knew about those cards. House flippers are sleazy. he knew what he wanted to do before he got there.
“I bought these little containers and these little plastic wrappers.” Please don’t try so hard to feign ignorance regarding what you have. You knew to go out, buy binders, penny sleeves, top loaders, etc.
Lol, right. It says what they are on the package even. Binder pages etc.

@@TheCardKid10 They don't KNOW real 1967 Pete Rose cards , when they seen them ?....LOL
@@robertd.7060 fr
Dont like that dude. Rubbed me wrong for some reason
He escaped from down here in Miami and made it to Georgia. Flipping houses for 20 years in Georgia😂😂😂😂😂😂😂Adorable😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hopefully you never have to sit next to him on an airplane or something like that...
Yea Geoff is kinda of a douche. I agree
Eh I mean u have to be a little bit of a jerk in card negotiations
Ya he did seem like he thought he was going to scam Jeff
I was multitasking watching this video. I cringe at these kind of sellers.
It’s free money to them, they don’t know the value or have any overhead in such investments.
They’ve picked your brain for free for over an hour and the. decided all their bright ideas were wrong but they know you didn’t offer your best price at the end of the day.
If you would have said from beginning. “This is my rock bottom.” And kept your word, you’d have thaught everyone watching how not to waste your time.
This guys a worm…nobody cares if those cards come out of your closet.
It’s probably better they don’t.
Kick Rocks!
Honestly, it was a great tutorial on how not to buy cards. " very cool collection, how much are you looking for?" Or " very cool collection, are you looking to grade these?" That's it, let him decide.
Don't need to analyze and go over your plans with every card and you sure as shit don't guess what it will grade. Painful. The young guy next to you is thinking same thing you can see it in his body language.
At the risk of sounding like ''the old guy," it's depressing that such a cool find of old cards, with all the nostalgia they stimulate, gets reduced to, ''I see some edge wear here. My gut feeling is that most of these are 4s or 5s."
Grading wrecked the hobby.
Nope, you are right. I see people trading those all the time.
This guy didn’t realize you didn’t give him the more expensive true RC of Strawberry which is 1983 Topps Traded 😂 He got the 1984 one 😂
Great call! The update sets are the true rookie cards.
Was this another Desmond Ridder move?
Literally going through 50+ year old cards, and keeps saying “yes this card is not in good condition”. We get it.
sounds like a rip off ....keep the cards !
@@davidhorton2782he got a great deal. Nobody would have paid him more.
What's this Pawn Stars with cards?? 😂
😂😂😂
This guy says he is not a collector but my goodness did he battle for negotiations. He was lucky to get 100 dollars for that crap set. He walked out a huge winner for dumping that fire starter
Thanks for verifying your stupidity
“Container” lmao 😂 Great vintage purchase you just did! This vid reminds me of the estate sale I was at several years & I bought up an entire early 1970s baseball, football, basketball & hockey collection for $500…it was a steal of a price! 🤘😉
You didn’t know about the OJ?Yeah Right 😆.That was the best card 😆
Why not offer to grade the Wilt to get the deal done? He was just saying earlier he wanted that done. $1,250 and they will clean, submit for grading and ship the graded Wilt back to him. Done.
Wow that was way too much for that collection!!! I honestly would not have given no more than $500 for that collection because honestly there were only two nice cards in the whole collection and that was the Nolan Ryan and the Wilt Chamberlain that he kept! I would have told him to take him home because he would have most likely took them somewhere else and they would have probably offered him $400 or $500 for them and he would have came running back
Buddy made his way to Georgia from Hialeah, FL on foot a week ago😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 FLIPPING HOUSES IN GEORGIA FOR 20 YEARS😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
There was more value in the binders than the cards HQ guys realized or were willing to mention. 69’ BB is loaded with RCs of many NBA Top 75 players that were blown past and 71 baseball high numbers like Blue and Allen can bring real money in decent condition. 70 Bench High # is a bigger card than most of what they pulled out. Doesn’t seem like anyone there has depth of knowledge on vintage.
I was totally going to comment with the exact same information.. especially when I saw them blow by the high number 71 Allen.. the knowledge of vintage details is extremely weak and desperately needs to be a focus to hire on his team.. they could also just sell the partial sets on Ebay to move the majority along as well.
Same 70&71 highs are tough. He has no clue
im not a pro with vintage by any means but I saw some of those sets and knew right away they wouldn't know about the high numbered lol
Hell, I haven't collected vintage Topps in decades, and even I was shocked at him passing by a lot of cards.
Yeah, with 71 baseball…anything in good condition is valuable regardless of player because of the black borders.
I would just say 1050 is the most u can do. I doubt any other card store would do better. Geoff is such a nice guy.
Classic situation every guy always thinks his old collection is worth way more than it actually is always happens
At least it wasn’t junk wax. Seen guys who think their 89 Donruss Griffey is worth 500 bucks lol
"So I bought these containers"
Don’t be mean to him he doesn’t know much about cards and he is a nice person
He’s not wrong.
They were used "containers" anyways. With old stickers on um.
Precisely, and doesn't know or care about cards. Click bait..
Knows nothing about cards but he knows about PSA....hmmmm
Run from this collection. It’s almost like a role play in selling.
Gotta love it when someone that knows absolutely nothing about the cards they have but they have a firm price in their mind on what they should go for😂
Nice cards, but this is why I love dollar boxes:
These are the available cards, pick the ones you want without making a drama and move one. Everyone happy.
"She doesn't get the logic." LOL
Feels like a really strong offer on those cards. I would've stuck to my guns at 1k given the work, time they will probably sit there, and limited upside baked into mid/high grades of the bigger cards
Wow I am surprised about how much you guys do NOT know about vintage cards. You don't know who's valuable and who's not. You guys should hire me to be a consultant of vintage cards lol. You guys missed two Johnny bench's a 70 and a 71. were there Clemente's or munson rookies? 2nd year munson is a key. You really should have been more up front with him about what you counted in the "bulk rate". This seems kind of squirrely to me.
They know, they just knew he didn’t know. …
Nah its obvious they didn't know.
Ok and guys. Chill... it's vintage junk wax crap that I wouldn't buy for a penny
@@OWENDARIOTSHIELD I wouldn't call 1969 1970 and 1971 " junk wax " 😂
Lol junk wax, what are you smoking
Didn’t Pull out the 1970 Topps Johnny Bench as one of the good baseball cards?
He didn't pull out a bunch of good cards - Harmon Killebrew,Gale Sayers, Dick Butkus
Yea missed a lot good stuff
Greasy dude!
My dad found his recently and they were 1971. Rookie terry Bradshaw, 2nd and 3rd year Kareem Abdul jabaar. Really cool
To pay that much for those cards, you guys definitely are a charity. You bought junk for 1275 dollars. I need to come to Atlanta.
The John Havlicek rookie was overlooked when pulling out the big cards 🤦♂️ it was like watching Wayne’s World analyze these.
love the 1990 random bowman card in the baseball pages!!!!! lol
Welcome to the new series of Antique Pawn Cards lol!
Love it, solid negotiation, the store didn't take advantage of him and made content for the channel at the same time, two thumbs up
I would purposely keep forgetting to give him the case he kept asking for
I explore abandoned locations all around. It would be soo cool if I found an old vintage card collection in one of these old places. Never say never! lol Great video thx for sharing.
that was fun and went down about the way i suspected it would.
YA GOT HIM!!!😂
Geoff tell him to take em home.
I wonder if he realized the Strawberry card is worth nothing and thought he got one over on you lol
I still have all my Michael Jordan and Jerry rices and a bunch of other cards. That I collected when I was younger like 20 some years ago
I love how customers come in and say they know nothing about cards then get shown how much their cards are worth and then all the sudden say they want 3x the value..haha
Geoff squeezing the guy....but doing $100,000 deals left & right😂😂😂
yeah that 70 topps bench high number is worth nothing. do you know ANYTHING about vintage?
you could see the disapointment on the guys face when he was offered 1k
This was the longest video for no reason at all
it is pretty underwhelming. Wilson's whole vibe seems pretty disingenuous
They blew right past the 1969 Earl Monroe and Wes Unseld basketball cards ...both are rookie cards and both players are in the HOF
This episode actually reminds me of antique roadshow
A series of vids, shorts even, of those cards as they go on their journey of being graded would be awesome.
This dude is slimy… am I talking about Geoff or the customer who knows😂
Lol the 1970 johnny bench so was the best card in the collection...missed that one guys fr
He thought you was gonna say $30k.
Shoved the Wilt in his pocket LOL
I love the guy is going to keep the Chamberlain. Put it in a holder and keep it for another 20 yrs. He's going to lose it. I thought 1000 was really high for basically commons and cards in bad shape.
...not a holder, a "container". lol
It is. That’s a 300-500 dollar lot
This was fun. You should do more of these deals like this with collections, single card deals, etc. Set up a small table in corner and have it be your "Deal table". People love this stuff. TLC has tons of these types of shows lol. My only issue is with the Straw rookie. It's not. Some people mistake it as his rookie. His 83 Topps Traded is his most valuable card and his rookie card. But with this guy who honestly wouldn't know the difference and isn't a collector, the 84 is his first main set Topps release which is where thew confusion comes into play with these players who have the updated set rookies. So it's fine. The guy had a nice story about both and he had a smile when he got the Straw so you know what - alls well that ends well!
The 1970 high # bench is worth more than the rose or mays and you left it in the bulk
As soon as Geoff heard the word PSA...his heart sunk. He was hoping he knew nothing about it.
Once he asked about O.J he should have been laughed out of the bldg.
1971 dick allen and vida blue cards are pretty high, also towards the end of that book was that a dusty baker/don baylor rookie? You flipped by it pretty fast both times.
The '70 Topps Johnny Bench that got left in the binder is a high number and sells for decent money even raw vg/ex
That guy was a hustler. No way they were in an attic for 20 years. Don’t forget the new plastic for Chamberlian. Hahahahaha
For an "expert" in cards not knowing the year of those football cards is not good
It was funny that he made it sound like he would be punishing them by putting it away and letting whoever deal with them later. I would’ve said this is what we can do. Take it or leave it.😂
70-71 bench and rose etc… aren’t bargain bend cards! I can’t see the conditions but they didn’t pull out all the good cards.
Thanks for sharing this episode...fun! It's okay to pass too! And, don't overshare in the run up to the negotiations. Play it cool and let him show you his cards. Usually, if I buy a collection I start from a position of, "Buddy, I'm doing you a favor buy buying this junk," lol. So, take that for what it's worth.
not a fan of this guy at all. Claims he knows nothing about cards but talks about getting them graded with PSA, had no intention of keeping the Wilt until he found out it was worth a bit and Geoff planted the idea in his head. Just something a bit off with him including him thinking that he knows what they are worth or that they are gonna be worth more in the future and he also gets to keep the best card in the lot. C'mon Geoff! U getting soft fella!
Someone tell that old man staring in the background to move away you’re filming a show
Rick from Pawn Stars would of got them for 75.00 max, lol
First he grew up around the time 1969's-early 70's came out....then he was 10 years old when Strawberry was big enough for fans to chant "Daryl" at games (mid 80s at the earliest)....give me a break
I cringe every time he touches any cards he’s so ruff with everything
From new cards to old
Geoff, I enjoyed this video and look forward to seeing more like this in the future. You’re not going to please all the viewers, as you well know. However, I need to say that you guys should have stuck to your guns at 1k.
The best part of the video was the back and forth with your guy about the pricing logic. What you both came up with made total sense and was extremely fair. Anything higher than 1k was too risky.
I actually wouldn’t mind a video where, at the end, you simply cannot come to an agreement. Thats the reality many times, it wouldn’t hurt to show a few of those here and there too.
That being said, hopefully you fair well on the grading. It would be nice to get a follow-up video on those results in the future, win or lose.
It's gonna be a loss at 1275.00
@@bradyrules325 agreed
Where did the Chamberlain go ? Back to bulk
And you own me a case " FOR MY LITTLE FRIEND "
Good video showing both the seller and buyers view points. Specifically, paying a bit higher for cards you can move quickly versus the cards that will likely sit, thus dead capital sitting on a shelf. Keep 'em coming Geoff and gang!
I work with these bullshitters every day here in Miami. Fake sauce
40 min episode about some old guy who doesn’t know shit but knows everything. Cmon Geoff this was a 5 min video at best
"Container"? "PSA Rated", "Can't we just iron it down"? I love non sport card guys lingo.
OJ just went up
Should’ve let him walk. Lol
Nice editing when talking about the luggage, dude for sure dropped a F bomb lol
You forgot OR maybe you didn't the 1970 Gale Sayers & the [ 2 ] 1970 Dick Butkus . ALSO there WAS a LOT of stars / HOFers in the 1971 baseball HIGH Series run, which I'm thinking a [ LOT ] of your COMMENTERS do not KNOW how hard it is to get those & if they are in 1/2 way good shape ! Nice shape cards in that year in ANY run are REAL hard to come by OR build a nice set in ?
