I found BTA late last year. It's really gotten me back into Minecraft, I'm having more fun than ever with it

This mod really reminds me of Survival Craft’s terrain, which is something that I always loved about that game
Surviving in that game was kinda brutal , Why does the cow attack me for no reason🗿

I never really played Minecraft Beta, I just played on my old Xbox 360 as a kid, but I have to say this mod definitely seems very charming and accomplished its goal extremely well. I think I may have to give it a try!

This is exactly the sort of thing I wanted omg, downloading it now aha
I tried it and... different weathers and seasons feel AWESOME, so well integrated. It's seamless, fits the mod vision, fits the beta aesthetic... Minecraft needs this, seriously.
I was like ... is Better than Adventure a mod, or is it a complete instance with its own client code? And the answer was, YES.
I'd be totally down for this if they brought it up to speed with modern, but then, I know that's not the point, and there's already mods that DO this weather sort of thing. So to see a instance pack keep to old worldgen AND bring in environment, makes it EXTRA special in my book! Look forward to them adding mod support, but I know that's such a hassle with core projects like this. For them to commit to it, is just that much more awesome!

I would suggest checking out TMCW. It's a mod made by MasterCaver and it does a similar thing, built on minecraft version 1.6.4 focused on mining and exploration.
This sounds like it could be fun if you mixed it with the From the Fog mod. Could really give the vibes from 2009-2011 Minecraft.
You'd have to port it back quite a long way...

I'd love to see a letsplay series with this mod, but also don't wanna put pressure on you to make one
Its a great mod but I wonder would it have enough unique details to make it a letsplay on its own? Perhaps it would be better if you added in some extra element to the letsplay
What if it was some kinda survival pvp letsplay with other youtubers, but using this mod? That way the seasons, and the lack of coordinates, would make the combat/tactics more interesting
Or if not a pvp letsplay, perhaps you do a normal letsplay but with some kind of constraint to make it more challenging, maybe you can't mine or farm anything and you have to get stuff from villages to slowly build up to a full inventory, would be more interesting to watch

6:50 Try turning HDR off in your windows settings, it does that when I screenshare on discord unless I turn it off
I had something similar happen to me; my videos being too bright were because of HDR being turned on in window's video settings. idk if this will help but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I've played for 3 hours and my biggest complaint is how easy it is to get food.
Cherry trees are over-powered and replace the need of farming pigs and wheat.

Are you using the correct Java version?
the mod has a fix built in specifically for that bug, I used it on M1 Pro
You may want to ensure that you're using the correct version of Java or try a different installation. I don't think apple silicon would effect Minecraft Java Edition's compatibility, considering that it was written in Java, and runs on the Java Runtime Environment, rather than being a compiled program that the CPU runs directly.

Getting really tired of clickbait like this, pretending it's about a cool and good thing then it just turns out to just be YET MORE whining about the modern updates. By definition, "BTA" cannot be superior to modern versions, because the actual base features of the game were worse back then. Sound, graphics, combat, etc, were all *objectively* worse. Gee it's almost like that's why they hired a sound guy and an art guy to overhaul these things! Honestly, the claim that older content was "better" is something I frankly find insulting to Jasper Boerstra.

This video doesn't seem to do much complaining about newer versions of Minecraft, not sure what you're on about there.
I am of the opinion that there is no correct way to play Minecraft. If someone is having fun playing an older version of the game, let them have their fun. To some, this is the best way to play. This mod has opened up a lovely little community of creators that are constantly improving upon the game in the style of beta. It's no insult to anyone to have fun, we're all playing the same block game.
I don't want to be that person, but 🎉people have different opinions🎉, no one is lying here, they just like the mod, what's the problem with that? Btw, it's not everyone that likes Minecraft being an adventure game, in the beta (before the beta 1.8), the game was a sandbox/survival game. Current Minecraft is not bad, but took a path that people dislike. And the mod still fixes some problems that the game had and has, like the gear problem

I enjoy playing the newer versions of Minecraft, but I also love the beta versions and this mod by extension. Yes, it's not as feature rich or polished, but it has a charm to it that the modern versions don't have for me. It's not about it being objectively better, it's about the simplicity of it and also a lot of it is personal to people who do enjoy it. I grew up with Minecraft, and I've been playing it for many years, since way back in 2010. I grew up watching people play the alpha and beta versions, and playing them myself too. Maybe it isn't as much of a full product as the modern game is, but the simplicity leads to creativity, and the older versions of the game remind me of a lot of good memories, and that's why I love playing it so much. And you have to admit, even though you seem to hate old Minecraft with a burning passion for whatever reason, this is a good mod, and a big one with a very dedicated community.
