- Minecraft has had hundreds of maps since its creation in 2009. Some of these maps such as the Temple of Notch, Herobrine's mansion, and more have become extremely famous in the Minecraft and gaming culture as a whole. But instead of revisiting and playing those, instead lets look at the oldest Minecraft maps out there and understand and experience what makes them so unique.

This is why I really like these old worlds and builds. Despite the limitations of the world and it’s blocks, they genuinely feel so honest and sincere to the passion of the actual game.
The old building style was a great example of how a building doesn't need to look super fancy and flashy to look good. Even with minimal detail like these maps, it can still look amazing.
When you visit those old servers, you feel like you're stepping into a digital time capsule. Minecraft truly is a game that stood the test of time.
Great way to describe it!
2:55 Castle Wars is a minigame in RuneScape, another game. The Minecraft map is a recreation of that game's map.
damn, someone made the original 60s enterprise in 2009s minecraft, it must have taken a really long time to make. it even looks to be close to a 1:1 scale!
7:02 "Lost woods" is probably jus recreation of OOT Kokiri Forest.

“Seems more like monkey-see, monkey-do than using actual creative energy” -Inspector Gadget
why are you quoting inpester gadgertter?
Beat me to it, you bastard
Oh look! A free iPad!
quoting inspector gadget on a minecraft video and it's not about the color brown? for shame.
This is so nostalgic, it feels like looking at childhood photos of events that you've almost forgotten
part 2 please for sure
05:40 Indev had a bug where bedrock could turn into lava after logging out and in again.
Henway! I am such a fan of your older videos, it's great to see that you're still active here on CZcams. (Sorry if this is awkward, I just didn't expect to see you here)
seeing the skydoesminecraft cops and robbers clip shot me into the past
You should be imagining that your friends made the map. That’s pretty much the target audience of a lot of them: just the guy’s friends
Videos games weren’t as popular back then
I'd say games were VERY popular back then, as much as they are today. If anything, the social media aspect of gaming wasn't there yet in scale. The first big creators in minecraft like Achievement Hunter or Hermicraft were starting to gain steam.
@@downwardtumble4451 saying Video Games weren't as popular back in the early 2010s is an extremely incorrect statement
Maybe it’s just me being old, but these maps genuinely don’t feel that old to me, sure it’s been awhile since those days, but I still use those old versions frequently 😊
I still build in the classic style just because I think it looks better, all of these new styles of building in the last 10 years using all of these pointless additional blocks are super ugly IMO. There is beauty in simplicity, when you have only blocks and a handful of materials.
You have to check the most famous in that day, map called - Horizon (Horizont ?) city. It one of the first minecraft maps i remember thematic was about zombie apocalypse

Wow this is literally like unearthing an ancient civilization from the end of the last ice age
The fact Castle Wars isnt recognized as a mini game from RuneScape is really odd to me. Immediate recognition on my part made that part hilarious
I think the castle wars build is supposed to be a replica of the castle wars game mode In runescape. It looks semi similar.
As someone who plays Minecraft primarily in its newer versions (Minecraft versions from before like 2012 are really unstable for some reason), it's pretty amazing to see these old structures, maps, and ideas from over a decade ago. I would absolutely love a part two to this 💛
keep making high quality content like this!
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
I appreciate the attention to lesser known maps!
Do one with 2012-2013 maps next! That's when I first started hearing about minecraft.
Man, it’s so nostalgic seeing all the old textures and world gens
0:30 I was 4 years old back then.
never got to play old versions of minecraft but atlest they made it so you can
5:01 These trees are probably from Paul Spooner's tree mod (the one that inspired Notch to add big trees to the game).
sometimes i wonder in my hazy playthrough of this game since it was a website demo, if there's any evidence of where I've been available somewhere I don't know about.
The version with the 3 by 3 trees has actually been preserved. I watched it in a let's play by SeparateBeast. They look pretty cool, and maybe they could be brought back as a rare tree variant, or even on the edge of forests, as a sort of transition into plains.
Yep, at least one version with these is on betacraft launcher
I joined Minecraft back in 2009 and I honestly remember playing on the classic minecraft sandbox servers. I rememeber there being commands for a glass path below your feet. Then when I found Survival Mode I got hooked and started watching my favorite creators play during 2010 which were bluexephos (yogscast) and davidangel64 (x's adventures in minecraft) honestly good times. I wish I could go back and relive those memories.
I briefly remember that castle wars map being some sort of capture the flag with blue and red wool
This ha e to be in a internet stroy book, glad that you made this video!
Castle wars map is a Minecraft replica of the castle wars mini game map in RuneScape.
Part 2 please :3
The Castle Wars map is a recreation of the minigame Castle Wars in Runescape.
How do you find and play on these maps? There's a few I want to explore myself but I can't seem to find where to download them.
The first map you covered actually looks pretty familiar even though I didn’t play back then. I think I may have seen it in a Guinness book like you mentioned in elementary school. I also had a similar Minecraft iPhone wallpaper.
Edit:
Moonrise05 is my favorite one
3:18 brown bricks
"In minecrap"
Moonrise05 map feels like a good setting for a horror map with the gray sky and the towers in the distance.
TOTEM THING HMMM
Back when Minecraft wasn’t “Modernized” and looked unique with the vibrancy of the grass & trees man that was a great time, sad that we can’t have anything like that again. 😢
Castle wars was a runescape minigame :D
Omg I remember watching a video of someone playing save 14 on CZcams, one the first vids I watched.
Wait you can change the sky color back then?! Bro I need that in the modern version of it now 😭

BROWN BRICKS IN MINECRAP

Bro the very first seconds, the Suvvial-Games Map, omg how many hours walked on this map
The grey sky map reminds me so much of Castle MinerZ

I think i seen lost woods in my childhood i think it was a andventure map
i dont know how, but i smell the maps
All of them should belong to an ancient historical monument site.
anyone got a link to the Castelwars map?
any maps for infdev (like indev, but infinite worlds)
welcome back man
3:18 I don't know what the block does, do you? I don't know. I dunno. Hey everybody, I'm here with my good friend, Inspector Gadget. Uh, how're you doing Inspector Gadget? I'm having a lot of fun. So, you wanna do some reviews, Inspector Gadget? I'm better than you are, so I should do the review. Okay, alright, well, Inspector Gadget's gonna do the review. You can shut up now, I'm always on duty! Hmm, do you have that game, "Miney Crafta"? Penny was telling me she was playing it on her computer book. Let's play Miney Crafta! Um, well, I have Minecraft, I think that's probably what you're talking about. Let's try that. Hmm, oh yes, this is it: Miney Crafta! No no no, Inspector gadget, it's called Minecraft. Oh, Minecrap! I cannot wait to play Minecrap. Do you know what my favorite thing to do is in Minecrap? I love building bricks with Minecrap. Building bricks with Minecrap is the best thing and the most amount of fun you can have while playing an app. I understand why all the kids are playing this game these days -- it's because they like to build brown bricks with Minecrap. I also like to build brown bricks with Minecrap. It's the most fun you can possibly have. What is the point of Minecrap? Well, there really is no point. It's a sandbox game. Oh good, I love building sandcastles. No, that just means you can do anything you want like explore, build stuff, and mess around. What kind of stuff can you build? Well, anything, really. There's one guy that built a scale model of the Starship Enterprise. My deduction skills as a detective tell me he has quite possibly, never had sex. Come on, Inspector Gadget, it's about expressing your creativity! But, he is just copying a fake rocket ship blueprint designed by someone else! Seems more like monkey see, monkey do than using creative energy if you ask me. Oh, you think you can do better, huh? I have a robotic implant in my brain that lets me preform 12,000,000,000,000,000 calculations per second. I could rewrite the entire game's code, while helping Penny with her homework, and cleaning up brain's doody, all at the same time! He's a nerd, and I hate nerds more than I hate MAD agents. What an asshole! He may not have a powerful cybernetic brain like yours, but I think that the kid used Minecraft in a unique, and complex, yet beautiful way, making the adaptation of---- I told you to shut up, but you didn't listen. Oh look, a free iPad.
beautiful
indfdev and alpha in part 2 plz :-)
I love it Minecraft maps

Two thousand and nine, and twenty ten" I feel like saying this should somehow be illegal
Ok nuked is my favourite because of fallout 4
7:02 Shows your age

WOM Realms Classic MC
mmmm🥰 cosy
i think i know what 6:22 is
Hey,make a video of the Minecraft classic launcher named classiccube
Is this real?
I just realized you have lower views than i thought
8:00 I don't know if I'm old or not for saying this, but keeping it simple with one color blocks makes it more recognizable and more interesting while today modern maps use every block with some "variations" trying to make things look round etc. and it just comes off like pile of mess and pixels, unrecognizable what it should represent.
