- Hey Guys,
In this episode we're going to be adding an external power source to the XT250. This 12 volt cigarette lighter is a universal accessory that hooks up to your battery and can connect to your handlebars as shown in the video.
Having an external source of power on your bike is great if you ever need to charge your phone, go pro, or any other electronic device. This particular model does not have a on off switch so you do have to remember to unplug any of your devices before walking away from your bike as to avoid draining your battery,

Another great video! Thanks for making it so easy to upgrade this bike!
Thanks for this.
I love that you did this video. I wanted to do this ever since I got my bike. since I don't know much about electricity, I wasn't sure if it would interfere with the bike electronics. Know I will know.
Yeah, its a really simple circuit, everything is complete out of the bag, no cutting splicing or guess work necessary. Just plug and play!

Wouldn't it been easier just to buy a disposable cigarette lighter.
Can you put the lighter in it? 🤔
Just put a battery tender on, and leave it mounted. Behind plastics it hides, for the 1 day I need a jump, or hook it to the trickle charger.
why didn't you add / install a battery tender jr connect. so you can add a trickle charger for winter and also add on a usb plug in for power to devices and a phone ??????????????? makes no sense at all to add the car plug..
you can run more items off a 12 v cig plug like a air compressor etc. and you can attach a tender to it also. sometimes usb is enough but not all the times
Did you ever think to put your camera on a tripod so you don't have to wear your helmet while you're working lol
My only concearn with mods like this is how much power does it take from the 🔋? I wanted to add a phone charger but i didnt want to strain the battery. Also the more you strip the bike apart the more you fall in love with it.
I agree with the stripping the bike apart makes you fall in love with it. I also wondered about the power. I was worried it would draw too much power. that is why I didn't do this yet.
Well I did change to the LED headlight which draws less power than the stock headlight so I think the charger shouldn't put too much strain on it.
