Just to let people know Yamaha like to cover the fuel/air screw with a Welsh plug, you can drill the plug out to get to it. I have had to do this on mine and on my TTR230.

That wire to the carb is a heated element to keep fuel from freezing inside the carb. I never had that happen on any bike but YamaHaHa seems to think it’s possible lol.
My wife has a 2009 with the powercore. I only did a pilot change and shimmed the needle. Don’t bother trying to jet with a K n N you’ll never get it to work. That carb does not like a lot of air no matter the jetting. So keeping the intake the same jetting requirements for just a slip on are minimal. Just keep and clean/oil the foam pre filter. Pro Cycje also sells a rebuild kit for the carb.
Also - those float bowl screws are Japanese Industrial Standard. A Phillips will strip them usually. You can get JIS drivers on Amazon

I ended up fixing it a different way so all is well. Ps That is so cool that your wife rides with you. You don't see that many girl riders so its always nice to hear that. And yes I did see those Japanese screw drivers I'm still debating getting them but thanks.

Great video! I just got a 2012 XT250 and it's a bit cold blooded. Have you experienced this and have you done any carb adjustments or something else to address that?
