Take your brothers advice. Or buy your own 3.5 flatbed with sides and go on those one load websites get some adds on Gumtree Marketplace etc. You will make a good living and be your own man.
The one job I refused to take on as a haulage operator was delivering to RDC’s and supermarket sites, you just get used as mobile storage. They’re just using the haulier. You can’t afford to lose a vehicle& driver for 4-5-6 hours or more.
I'm not arguing but from my perspective as a manager, I can barely run a shift with the staff I have, and when that container or HGV doesn't arrive on time or arrives whenever he wants because it doesn't have an allocated time slot, it all becomes a bit difficult and frustrating.
5 hours in Tesco’s Daventry last Saturday Jay ,, shocking. Missed my booking by 10 mins because of traffic delays so i was parked up in what as known as the sin bid until they could unload the trailer 🤬🤬🤬

4 hours wait is the dream , never understood drivers who whine about being paid to wait around, especially if your a tramper.. bit different if your on days and need to be home
It's the consequences of the shitty systems of "just in time delivery". Corporations kid us that its for our benefit, instead of the truth which is it means they don't hold stock . Its simply about them lining their rich share holders pockets, and means we get lower quality fresh foods that have been frozen or chilled to within eight hours of going rotten, but they get to keep their money in the bank longer. The consequences are the drivers get treated like shit and the slightest hiccup in the chain causes chaos. All the skill shortages we face across all industries are the result of greedy people who contribute nothing showing zero respect for working people as employees or consumers.
I want a job where I end up waiting 4 hours for other people to do theirs and I'm on paid time 😂 You've done your part in getting up early and delivering the goods to site, how they choose to mess around after that doesn't affect your £££

A bus driver makes £15.45 Monday to Saturday and £16.50 on Sunday and a Hgv loading and unloading a lorry makes £15.00 m/s and 17 on Sunday 😂😂 that’s why nobody wants to do that job anymore
Aldi and lidl were built during the German recession after the 2nd World War. Built completely on efficiency, hence why they've been so successful. The likes of tesco would need there entire system rebuilding from the ground up to be anywhere near as efficient.
I love how the fire alarm has been ripped out so that drivers can smoke in the truck even though smoking and vaping doesn't set the alarm off. These drivers probably turn the fire alarm off in their home because they think cigarette smoke sets them off.

I think of these poor devils every time I shop for food everytime I make a large meal for my family and friends I owe these people everything they are why my work never runs out. My bro is class one. He told me to stick with 3.5t
No tacho etc
But sometimes I drive 9-10 hours a day straight apart from drops (10-15 mins each one average)
I’m on the road just like you lads n lassies just a bit smaller 😂
My bro said this 40k wage bubble will eventually burst yet others say they can’t drop it once it’s gone up ££
Take your brothers advice.
Or buy your own 3.5 flatbed with sides and go on those one load websites get some adds on Gumtree Marketplace etc.
You will make a good living and be your own man.
@@pablosaintmarr3223 I was self employed years ago. Never again
But thank you 👍🏼
The one job I refused to take on as a haulage operator was delivering to RDC’s and supermarket sites, you just get used as mobile storage. They’re just using the haulier. You can’t afford to lose a vehicle& driver for 4-5-6 hours or more.
Well said 👏 and now getting letter through the post because there desperate for drivers now should of looked after hgv drivers in the first place
Sounds a fast turn around for Tesco Jay. At least your not looking at nighting out on the bay!.
A few years ago I did a delivery to Tesco at Weybridge I waited 27 hours 3 days before Xmas.
You can get 50k for HGV so 4 hrs is worth
I'm not arguing but from my perspective as a manager, I can barely run a shift with the staff I have, and when that container or HGV doesn't arrive on time or arrives whenever he wants because it doesn't have an allocated time slot, it all becomes a bit difficult and frustrating.
Jay come on man, you don’t get paid by the delivery, sit back, air con on and chill my friend
5 hours in Tesco’s Daventry last Saturday Jay ,, shocking. Missed my booking by 10 mins because of traffic delays so i was parked up in what as known as the sin bid until they could unload the trailer 🤬🤬🤬
4 times I had to put my trailer back in the bay before they loaded it proper, ran out of time had to come back next morning.
Slight re correction, tip yourself at Lidl in 40mins and then wait 2 hours to get your paperwork back.
This. So many times. Lidl rdc Belfast is a bastard for it.
Stuff will be outa date by the time the load is off lol
4 hours sat there on phone , snoozing, enjoying the sun , etc and being paid 😂
My longest wait was 9 hour wait for a well known online retailer and in the end I got pulled out without a SINGLE pallet being tipped
I was at Boots, last week 5 .5 hrs,2 hrs in waiting area and 3.5 hrs on the bay.
4 hours? Work for the agency so you get paid for the hours you sit while being offloaded. I spend the time watching CZcams or reading my ebook while being paid 18 pounds an hour I love it. Wouldn't change it for any other job in the world.
Some blokes on here earn £9 hr some earn £19 hr I can’t make it out lol
It takes that long to get through a tesco checkout!
Drive a cement tanker, best thing I ever did.
@Salamanda not in Ireland UK or Europe.
And you’ve got to sit in a horrible drivers room. It wouldn’t be as bad if you could stay in your truck!
Hgv2 £6.30 ph, why i quit,.. Shite, pcv1... £3.68ph... More on dole and that is f*n bad
Do you not get paid by the hour Jay?
Keep me all day if they wish.
4 hours for ONLY 24 PALLETS where I work we unload on average 13 pallets snd over 2 oversized totes in under 25 minutes
You are so right... I used to work for a company doing general haulage and absolutely hated getting rdc where I couldn't unload the trailer myself... thats why I'm now a tipper driver easier work and a easier trucking life
Bloody ridiculous, that kind of waiting time must be costing the industry millions every year..
4 hours wait is the dream , never understood drivers who whine about being paid to wait around, especially if your a tramper.. bit different if your on days and need to be home
If my aunty had balls she'd be my uncle 😤
Sorry Jay no driver should be tipping themselves fook lidl n aldi....they should employ people ....
That is why they are cheap.
I would use this time to read a book and write notes . This job is amazing.
Hour rate I would happily sit there 4 hours 😂
Got out of it 4 years ago after 28 years class1, miss the craic but dont miss the job.
Tesco need to get into modern times
Crap firm
I want a job where I end up waiting 4 hours for other people to do theirs and I'm on paid time 😂
You've done your part in getting up early and delivering the goods to site, how they choose to mess around after that doesn't affect your £££
Sub contractors should bill Tesco’s for waiting time
I delivered to BMW last Monday..8 hours i sat with side curtains open waiting to be tipped. It got so late they “didnt have time” to reload me. It is beyond ridiculous
After 25 years of being a full time trucker i hung my boots up.We get treated like crap buy businesses, other drivers and councils unlike other European countries who value truckers. There are parking spaces and shower facilities at each garage. The UK is crap for truckers.I would consider working just weekends only other then that i am pleased to be away from the bs!!!!!
4 hours sitting playing video games on my phone and getting paid for it. When can I start?
Maybe if Tesco treated there staff better than dogs some work might get done..
Sometimes, it's not about getting for the 4 hours . It's just a waste of resources.
Im a hgv driver and tbh mate unless your paid by the mile i wouldnt complain, 4 hours is time for kick back and relax
Loads of people want to do this job.
Pay these incredible men and women more, a lot more. I think of these poor devils every time I shop for food everytime I make a large meal for my family and friends I owe these people everything they are why my work never runs out. They are why I can sample the world from my little house in Texas and why I don't complain if prices are up.
Thank you thank you thank you.
I've found alot of the warehouses are over stocked, most of the time waiting around is down to this
Out of curiosity, what does this class as on the tachometer? Other work? Rest? I’m currently doing my licence so just curious..
Yep! I agree!!! Ive sat for 9hrs just for 15 pallets 😅
Its the nature of truck driving I get paid for driving unloading and waiting, get unlimited data and a flask of coffee, some peanut butter sandwiches, i love it, 😎
Dhl nissa in Scunthorpe, 6 hours 2 pallets
Wouldnt recommend hgv tramping to noone ! ABSOLUTELY not !
i quite tesco chepstow, when they offered us a 10k pay cut, to go to avonmouth
Think yourself lucky... can be up to 8 hours doing a delivery on the Horseshoe at Heathrow... 😢
If u do not like to wait in Tescos then don’t go to tescos get ur self banned from there and they will not send u again
40min in Aldi or Lidl then hour for the paperwork
