This is nice and down-to-earth and encouraging that you are earning a very good wage already. A bit shitty not giving notice to your previous company but hey if they pay shitty wages they can't expect too much. It doesn't justify it but I bet that if you asked for a pay rise they would say "there's the door if you don't like it". Somoehow it's alright for an employer to be shitty to their staff.... that's life.... Thanks for the video. Good job!

Hi Luke,All the comments about struggling to get on the HGV ladder make me smile,I went though the same thing back in the early 80s,but I had a Class 1 licence.I ended up working 30 years driving trucks (and had a great time, loads of money and loads of laughs)Having a job you enjoy is the most important thing,If you enjoy it ,then it makes it easy,if you hate it,guess what!!! its fricking hard!!!..But after been made redundant by Safeway/Morison I was burned out..Now I reinvented myself and gone bus driving.I,m getting £14 an hour and doing a 39hr week which suits me fine..I wish you well in your career..

Last year i had the chance to go for my class two , everything was in place . Then last July i had a major RTA which nearly killed me . It affected me so much it took 4 weeks to regain my confidence to drive a car again and 3 months to get back into a Van .
But now im ready to try again , i dont want to drive a van for another 10 years. Before in too old to try again .
I was even offered a job as a night class 2 driver last night if i had my licence by the company i do the odd night a week for. Told me they would snap me right up once i get my licence .

There. Is definitely easier money to. Be made elsewhere that's said, I have a good variety of work Farms/trains/boats/houses/quarrys to name A few. There's always a homemade Scone and a cup of tea going around at the farms. I'm. Not sure I could go back to long distances on the motorways no.

If there exist normal jobs, something like getting up at 6am and stopping at 5pm roughly, then fine. But continuous 4am starts to late finishes, which aren’t technically even finishes as you’re still on the road, it just seems unhealthy, mentally and physically.

Luke firstly well done for being so honest. (Not many people admit what they actually earn) I am currently waiting on my provisional coming through just now. I passed my test in 1992 or so past ( I was 47 a week ago) . I should have got my license before then but because i loved driving so much I had to wait until then before I was able to apply for my license. i also lost my license because I was involved in an incident in an Asda car park where I cut across a giveway exit into a parking bay to use a cash machine. My ex girlfriend was with me and it was her wanting money that made me hot headedly cut in. If I could show you the junction and the amount of people who do the very same thing it would amaze you. However because she was nipping my head for money for groceries i did it. ( the reason i went into detail there maybe because we wish we could do something different that maybe would change everything that has happened since- The reason i say this ,well although i split up with the girl a year or more after ,this year she lost her life and was laid to rest earlier this year -nothing to do with my driving I hasten to add ) Anyways because i took it to court as the police were exiting the store with their lunch that day ,one cop said i sped past them where they were parked and people were jumping out the way while the other cop said they were parked at the other side of the car paek. He also said i was alone while his partner said my girlfriend was with me. That along with so many other lies and discrepancies in their statements made me plead not guilty to dangerous driving on the advice of my lawyer. I lost and was disqualified and have to re-sit my test . I think the judge was angry i had the cheek to not plead guilty to it. Asda were useless and would not provide the video evidence that would have proved the cops lied and even now i am full of tears of rage because of what I feel is a massive injustice and also at the loss of a girl I was crazy to let go. I have now to sit my test as i said but into the bargain i lost my class C license which I also loved as i had a few jobs that needed it and also others where i was the only person sometimes on shift qualified to drive the 7.5 ton lorry we had. I just wish to say good luck with your new job and happiness doing the job ,i hope to get my license soon and then I shall hopefully get my HGV starting at the bottom again or maybe after a year go for the PCV getting a bus company to pay and let me pay it back ( as these license do not come cheap these days. well mate i must have bored you to pieces by now but i got a bit off my chest ,so good luck mate and i enjoyed your video. never mind what folk said on Faceache about you-they obviously were not the friends you thought so better of without them . All the best Luke , Alan
