A piece of advise. I passed my class 2 two years ago. And I have been driving for 18 months. One thing you need to be aware of checking the vehicles gross and load weight. As you are working for an agency you as a driver don't mean anything to them. They can hire or fire you withing minutes. As a driver it is your responsibility to check everything related to the vehicle. I nearly got fired with my current class 2 job few months as the vehicle had been overloaded. The only reason I was not fired just necause I had checked the paperwork just leaving the warehousr. Had I been pulled by the police I would have been fined hundreds of pounds. This is the only reason I wasn't sacked. However I was called in the office the very next day and given a written warning. This warning is now part of my record. In this hgv world nibody is your friends except other decent drivers. Your agency or my company doesnt give a toss about me or you. Always save your licencse first. Jobs come and go. Once the licence is fucked .its all over. SAVING YOUR LICENCE SHOULD BE YOUR UTMOST PRIORITY.

    I got a few infringements when I started 6 year ago.But I haven't had any for 3 years.I trunk on nights class 1.
You don't want to be a YES man in this industry,Because that's why drivers get mistreated because some don't stand up for them selves.
Next time park up on 9 and half hours and let them sort it.
Never go over your time because company's won't thank you for it and most probably get rid of you easier with infringements.
Keep up the work thou man.

I have debts to pay so obviously wouldn't want to leave a steady paid job to join an agency if they aren't reliable. I've heard good things and bad things about them, is it worth joining one? I wouldn’t apologise for anything mate. I think you’re doing really well in your new career! My dad always told me not to do the same thing all throughout my life because the only thing he knows is driving and he hates the fact that it’s all he knows but doesn’t hate the job, however he’s not interested in bright lights air horns and decor anymore 😂 anyway. It’s that reason alone that I’ve not got my class two yet, but over the past year it’s just been sat eating at me and I’ll be taking my theory around Easter (or at least that’s the plan) we all have to start somewhere! Your vlogs are very informative, theirs always something that I personally learn in each vlog, driving hours and Tachos being the only thing I’m overly worried about. As long as you’re at work earning the pennies, the family have a roof and financial stability and you’re enjoying it, you’re winning. It is better money for LTD companies. Usually £1+ per hour on HGV 2. Plus you can reduce your tax bill by offsetting work, living expenses and HGV courses. Paying an accountant may be several hundred pounds, but it's cheaper overall than paying the PAYE / salary slave taxes. Basically, if you work PAYE, you're working 2.5 months per year for free.

I done 4 years at driver hire
First two years I worked for an agency and took every shift going and had 5 days a week for pretty much two years but had to change agencies due to personal circumstances
Then walked in to driver hire and they got me work straight away and I enjoyed it but as you pointed out you need to not be fussy and take what they give you etc which is no different to the agency having to take the work they get offered by companies etc but towards the end of my 4 years at driver hire I started to get fussy and then companies started to get fussy etc and work dried up so I changed to current agency and I love it where I am but when you have driven for nearly 8 years on agency etc you've pretty much driven for everyone etc so now I am working less and concentrating on getting a better work life balance and am in to the Vanlife lifestyle which agency driving is great for and as a minimalist I've started to reduce costs and looking to reduce hours which again a person can do very easily with agency driving etc
An agency driver makes agency driving what they want it to be to fit around their circumstances etc
    Great video

The exact same Driver Hire also exists here in Australia but Federal Laws means that pay is significantly higher for overtime and casual workers. After 7.6 hours a day you then get paid time and a half for the first 2 hours and then double time for the rest of the day. Saturday is time and a half from the start for the first 2 hours and then double time. Sunday is double time all day. Added to that, you get 25% Casual loading to the base rate in place of not receiving sick pay or holiday pay. All in all, you get paid extremely well as a casual down under, particularly if you also do plenty of overtime.

Previous jobs ...bin man, Army...burger flipper - woh, wait a minute - Army? Means you are fully qualified to handle any shit that people will give you and still stand there and smile sweetly. Many people out there have no idea. You’re a credit to yourself and your family, and a fine bloke - you’re the last person that needs to apologise, and will do well in a good company. Love the vlogs.

Agencies mate. Ring them all. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, ring every haulage firm in a driving distance of you and ask for work. January isn't the best time to be honest, you'll be lucky to get anything in Jan, it's dead. March would be best time to start looking.

As long as you do a printout and keep it saying something like no safe place to stop or traffic or whatever your generally safe, less than 10 min over is not usually a problem. As long as it not a pattern, I had a few trying to get back to yard in London and Its all red routes untill yard.keep at it you make your own self worth and happiness at work. It doesn’t matter what others think if you enjoy it 😀😀
