    There isn’t a shortage of LGV drivers, there’s a shortage of people with LGV licenses that want to do it. After 32 years I’ve seen it all, except decent wages, decent hours, services and a decent attitude towards drivers. We’ve been treated like second class citizens for years and now it’s coming back to bite everyone’s arses. They might once and for all realised the importance of lorry drivers and we might finally get rewarded with a decent wage and not having to work 70hrs a week to get it. 🤞🏻

      @@ems4580 You mean cheap foreign labour has left after Brexit , that's right . There's loads of class 1 drivers out there they need coaxing back into the job by better wages , hours and conditions , that have been eroded over the years .

    • @ems4580
      @ems4580 Před 2 lety +3

      @@SISU889 the race to the bottom has been going on for a long time, third party companies like Stobarts, Wincanton, DHL, XPO, etc have kept the wages low for years giving shareholders more money and creaming the rest for themselves and let’s not forget the fraud of self employment where ot allowed agencies and some companies to pay the wage we should get but less holiday pay, employer NI contributions, service….
      They’ve filled the gap driver wise with warehouse to wheels, ex convicts, long term unemployed, ex soldiers and foreign workers who in my opinion are good grafters.
      Covid was the final nail in the tyre 😂 but Brexit will be our down fall, other countries are turning their backs on us with regards our supply chain……we don’t make what we need as it was sold off by the Torys years ago for greed.
      We need a national wage for HGV drivers and a better training service to improve the calibre of new drivers and even drivers with years experience.
      I’m glad it’s now in the public eye as the powers that be think anyone can do it……

    Best quote in this "just a todge out" Glad to hear you don't look down on us class 2 guys. Great video again fella but what about this crap on the news about the driver shortage? Friday morning on news telling folks not to panic buy fuel, result, people panic buy fuel so petrol stations run out due to excessive demand. Same thing at start of pandemic as there was no food shortage until some bright spark says no need to panic buy food, result people panic buy so there was a food shortage. I have not seen a single site that has stopped or even slowed down due to any form of shortages. It's great that videos such as yours inspire a lot of folks to consider getting into lorry driving and well done to you for that but we need more firms to step up and take a chance and back the many youngsters to get them trained for free on apprenticeships or whatever, only then will we see an improvement in tackling the driver shortage. Stay happy Deady and by the way you looked well and fresh faced at the start of this one.

If the driver says 'ok' I'll do it, the company just think, 'hey we took the piss and got away with it, so let's continue doing that'.

      I was doing hazardous goods for £9.80 an hour working 60+ hours a week no nights out.
      It worked for me because I wanted to drive trucks and I worked so mich i didnt have time to spend my money. So i could put a deposit down on a house
      No work life balance at all. It was honestly the best and worst job at the same time. I miss it but wont go back to it for any wage.
      If you have the itch to drive trucks then go for it but if you dont have passion for it itll burn you out quick.
      As a mechamic you have job security and know your hours. You grind away at that and specialise in specific fields you can earn a nice wage. I wouldnt leave a mechanics job for trucking but if you have the itch you gotta drive if you wanna.

    I don't usually do this, but I'm coming out of retirement to fight deady live at the bolton markets 2nd October make sure you are all there in attendance, tickets are £8.00 all funds raised go to extra driver training for deady, let the best man win but this is certainly no contest for me, I'm quicker and sharper ruthless on the attack and can really pressure deady into dangerous positions , see you all on the 2nd October.
