  • The difference between a cheap motorcycle helmet and an expensive motorcycle helmet can be found in many different things. The helmet market offers so many different types of skidlids, so it can be very difficult to find the right one for you. Especially when prices range from £50 to £1000. In this video we take a look at the major differences between cheap helmets and expensive helmets.
For example: a fibreglass outer shell is much harder than a polycarbonate shell. The level of impact absorption is lower on a polycarbonate outer shell than on a fibreglass shell. This brings the need for different types of EPS inner shells. A cheap motorcycle helmet will never be made of top notch carbon fibre, and there is a big difference in quality between a £100 carbon helmet and a £2500 carbon helmet.
The thickness of a helmet’s outer visor also differs a lot between cheap and expensive helmets. As does the ventilation system and of course the comfort of the inner lining.

    4:24 - Homologation (P/J)
    4:50 - Aerodynamics
    5:18 - Visor
    6:12 - Wind noise
    6:48 - Build quality
    7:32 - Conclusion
We go over all the major subjects in this short video about the most important differences between cheaper helmets and more expensive helmets.

Good video I like that you weren't just bashing people who dont have expensive helmets. You just showed the differences in the fact that you get what you pay for. I'm new to motor bike vehicles and looking at things like helmets this was informative unlike a previous video wear a guy just smashed a helmet with a bloody sledgehammer.

Hmmmm…first and just to be clear I always buy premium brands (Arai, Shoei, AGV, Schubert…)
Now you have cheap and cheap.
If you compare the 4 mentioned brands to Scorpion, HJC and LS2 there’s a major price difference.
Do the latest brands provide much worse helmets? Actually according to different serious reviews they seem to be at the same level.
Another example. Comparing the quality of my AGV Sportmodular to the HJC equivalent which is 50% cheaper and the latest win.
I know you try to highlight that security and quality have a price tag. And I agree but high price is not always giving you more than lower prices.
Is the Arai RX7 carbon at 3k better than the scorpion exo air carbon (400€) ? I personally don’t think so.
The Arai is more a piece of art, is handmade and absolutely gorgeous but security/ comfort wise…
Btw I really liked your video comparing fake to authentic 😊
Finally I’m going for an Arai rx7 evo. And the main reason is because I love the nakagami or tatsuki deco 😉
For the rest the scorpion exo air was as good

If you spend $1000.00 dlls on a cell phone you should be able to spend $600 on a shoei rf1400 ( my favorite) by the way.✌️

Correct me if i am wrong. Not all premium helmets create quieter noises such as agv pista (that's why they include CamelBak earplugs) & shoei x14

Give a guy the choice of a nice slip on or a top notch brain bucket and he goes for the exhaust and gets a cheap ass helmet

I stopped watching after he said shoei neotec is the best fitting. I have one of these over priced pieces of shit and never wear it in favor of my cheap Torc brand helmet

    • @FortaMoto
      @FortaMoto  Před 2 lety +2

That's not actually what we said, or are implying. We gave the Neotec II as an example of a helmet with a great fit for most people, which is something we know from experience.
