  • In order to produce a clear sound, a singer needs to be tension free. If one area of the body is tense, it directly effects the function of another part of the body. A tight jaw results in tight neck muscles that can hinder your singing. You could also be be blocking the sound completely by not opening up correctly.
I'll walk you through how to spot if you have jaw tension and some vocal warmups that will isolate the jaw in order to keep it loose in order sing with total freedom!

I have TMJ and a loose jaw is very important when singing for many reasons, but its very hard for me to loosen my jaw. I will try these techniques. Thank you ❤️

This is very good advice but here in Nashville we sing by “letter”. That is, we open up and “letter” fly! 🤠🤗

Thank you Singing Sensei🙏 Your gentle on the vocal chord technique, taught after the vigorous Aw Ee Aw Ee exercise makes sense to me. I think it's a logical way to warm up and cool down in this musical dojo 💜

🐬WOW🐬 Awesome.... dolphin speak! I did this "sound from above" and it created no throat squeeze! Plus a fuller, all encompassing sound from your "dolphin speak technique" has A FORCE, like your way ✝🙏💃🙏

It is like Vantriaque, one's voice isn't one's own! 😱
It's a beautiful thing to hear a voice singing on the radio, or here on CZcams, and know that it is Katie, or Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell unique. When I let go as you say... a lovely sound was heard....my God given voice💜

Great lesson, my voice teacher did EE Yah descending, I thought that was for resonance only. Great info. 😀😀😀

I experimented with jutting the jaw out then pulling it way back tight, (seeing in mirror :) and listen to the sound effects coming out of my mouth was quite a dramatic difference in everything audible. Now I can imagine that is how the voices artists, that sing in Disney films must look like as they contort their neck muscles and jaw. Thank you Katie 💜

I swear singing language is just like yoga, "Breath into your thighs" like what theres a lung in my leg?
"Okay now sing from your forehead" Okay now were putting the new age hippy yogis to shame.
