  • For a few years I randomly started to get a wet footwell after a little bit a of rain, if it rained heavily it was sure to be soaked. At one stage it was a sunroof drain problem, but then later I had another leak which looked like it was coming from inside the car behind the TCM/left side of the glove box I later worked out this to be the issue which has now fixed my car permanantly.

There are a lot of examples of bad seam sealing on all VT-VZ. Through the wiper cowl as well as the external parts you showed. It’s like who ever did was not watching and having a chat to someone as the seam sealer gun was flowing the gunk out.
See it at wreckers a lot. Have experienced it myself as well. It’s what got me looking for it.

Something that in reality is such an easy fix, however until you discovered it everyone was chasing a different remedy

How do you take off the side panel to clean the build up out?

Unbolts from inside the bonnet area, under the wheel arch and from the inside door jam. There are some videos around showing this and it isnt hard to follow with a bit of navigating around the bolts.

So. What your saying Chris is ... Don't do deep river crossings in an Adventura unless you like the smell of wet carpet ???

@nottogood415 nothing wrong with them, great cars any that’s are over 200k will likely need a trans rebuild before 300k normally median life is 250k. Cheap way out before it goes bang, get it in for clutch packs and you may see 400k on original trans. Otherwise LS engines always leak, expect that but don’t be too paranoid about if it’s not super dry, live axles pinion bearing seems to go in them at around 250-300k as well. Not a hard fix just some cash to spend so be aware. Nov 2004 onwards has 250kw setup from vz (even if vy body) and anything before that is 235kw. Id pick Nov 2004+ model in all costs if you can :)
