      @@TerritoryOffroad yeah I read many not a fan of the 2.7 although the fuel economy side of things seem promising. Drove it 80kms through mixed traffic and without 5/6 and somewhat 50% highway over 90 minute drive trip reset showed around 8.1L/100 which is giving me ideas about a run about car for the workshop. 👀

      @@AllTerrainAction Yeah that's the big thing people love about them. My SY sits around 14 per 100 so fuel economy isn't something I like to talk about. The old SX is worse. I think like any car if they are looked after they will normally be mostly trouble free.

    So should i do the mod or not ? Or just keep cleaning the oem one every 30k

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  Před 2 měsíci

      Cleaning OEM one every 30 is fine in my books if everything is stock, if you drill them - then do it to the specs mentioned in my other video. Drilled ones to the spec seem to breath better lesser chance to build up blockage/restriction but if OEM is maintained regularly then it’s nothing to worry about.

      thanks for fast answer . so if i drill it i must install catch can or its fine without catch can cuz i worry about oil go inside the manifold . thanks @@AllTerrainAction

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  Před 2 měsíci

      Fine without catch can if drilled to the specs mentioned in other video. It’s a very minor drill out, if you exceed that you may need a catch can. I’ve ran this 40,000kms with no catch can and Intake is in great condition.

    if it is using oil topping it up with new oil is probably good for it

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  Před 2 měsíci

      I agree, as long as you are topping it up. The downsides also are more than normal carbon build up and possibly more than normal amount of deposits left within your cat, leading to premature wear in other places. Where one positive, often you might introduce nother negative. Each to their own though.

    why not just run a catch can?

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  Před 2 měsíci +1

      In my situation, it makes sense to install a catch can, and I likely will once I've shown in a real world use senario that there’s benifits with the correct modification for everyday use - it costs people nothing but a dril and some time to do this. Using a catch can is a beneficial modification to ensure the long-term health of anyone's alloytec but you have to pick a product, mount it, do some basic plumbing work and understand what its doing plus drain it. Overall, this modification is ideal for anyone with a standard setup who simply wants to maintain their vehicle's engine ongoing - but for those who want the next step catch can for sure and I'll do a video with that when that time comes.

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  Před 2 měsíci +4

      Nothing wrong with that but I actually think the flow might be better as well this way, I’ll be able to support that claim as well when I reopen the left and right banks when I add the cams in. Normal size I think restricts that bank and hence why one side is normally yellow/gold and the other is dark brown/black.

      The hole size in not good enough. It was in the late VF’s that GM and Holden changed the PCV to the size we are drilling out to. It’s a big positive.

    Seems like a lot of fuss to save 200ml-1L of oil in 10,000km. To each their own I guess... I think I'll just carry a litre of oil lol

    • @AllTerrainAction
      @AllTerrainAction  Před měsícem

      You’re missing the point, this is linked to timing chain failure. Engines that receive this early seems to sustain longer timing chain life. Most alloytecs getting this done early 200,000kms have gone to 400-450k on original timing chains. It also stops front cam sensor seals leaks and rocker cover leaks from crankcase pressure build up.

    • @LoA.77
      @LoA.77 Před měsícem

      @@AllTerrainAction Just change the oil regularly at 3k miles and your timing chain will be fine. I'm not missing anything.

    Its not a Ford Territory you got there Chris. Its a RWD Land Rover/Jaguar/Citroen Discovery.
    They were not the most reliable vehicle ever hence why most of us opted for the early 2010-2011 Model with the Barra inline 6. As past 2011 they only made the Barra in RWD format.
    The Lion engine was just a ticking time bomb with timing belt issues which had to be done every 80,000kms and yes.. that gearbox connected to that diesel engine was hideously unreliable with everything from the Torque Converter just exploding to the valve/Solenoids just randomly dying. The most spectacular self detonating Lion Diesel was one where I watched as the High pressure Oil pump decided it didn't want to be a pump anymore.
