  • Here is Fletch’s lovely 1968 Imperial LeBaron. Powered by the 440 V8 this body style was only available for two years - 1967 and 1968. The 1968 model is the best looking in my view. Please Like, Share, Comment and Subscribe. Thanks for watching.

I've always thought the '66-'67'68 Imperials were the best looking they ever built.

Fletch has a very nice stable of cars. I like Fletch's NL 5 litre fairlane in the background also.

I had one of these as a teenager...absolutely beautiful car! 440 V8 engine, fender skirts, & enough room for 10 inside. Boy does that take me back!!
    Especially the 7-point turn 🤣🤣🤣

Gorgeous! My favourite year for the Imperial and LeBaron is the 1967 year. But this is also lovely.

I love these too. I have a few Imperials including a 68 Crown sedan. I love the back of these. 👍

One of these sat in my driveway my entire childhood and I dreamt of being 16 and fixing it up but sadly, it was not a practical thing to do. I saddle soaped the interior and did what I could but a hailstorm destroyed it, softball sized hail.

What a shame. Sorry for your loss 😢. That would have been a nice car.

    Not Chrysler. Just imperial.

Yes but still made by the Chrysler Corporation despite the Marketing approach of not saying “Chrysler “. Thanks for the comments.

Yes but it was a product of The IMPERIAL DIVISION, not the Chrysler Division. All advertising of the period shows that.thus, this is NOT a Chrysler of any kind.

WHY do some folks get all piffy over the name of these fine-ass automobiles. 1968 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron is the car's name. I grew up in So. Cal. where top end Mopars were more plentiful in number and we always knew them as Chrysler Imperial. "No Junior Chryslers" was the company's motto. You want a crass sissy sedan go over to the other end of the showroom and get a Belvedere. From the Chrysler Newport to the mighty CHRYSLER IMPERIAL these powerful cars wore their family name proudly. Imperial was only an Imperial independent from 1955 to 1966. With the restyled 1967s they were again sharing bodyparts with New Yorker/300 and again were Chryslers. Walter P would be butthurt to learn that a failed boardroom marketing ploy eliminated his name from his most expensive model line.

Hi Steven. Yes, I do hear you. To me they are all Chrysler Imperials. I have four of them (59. 60, 68 and 81) and, regardless of how some of them were “marketed” they are the top of the line Chrysler. In the video we were just getting ahead of the armchair critics. Thanks for the comments 👍.

      Check the VIN NUMBERS:
All Chrysler models ( New Yorker,Newport, 300) carried a “C” code under “make.”
IMPERIAL didn’t. All IMPERIAL models (Custom, Crown, LeBaron) carried a “Y” make code in THEIR VINs. If the IMPERIAL was a “Chrysler”, it would’ve carried the SAME “C” make code as other Chryslers. But it did not. Because IMPERIAL was NOT A CHRYSLER. It was a SEPARATE DISTINCT MAKE from 1955-1975 , and again from 1981-83.

Want more proof? Look at this commercial.
It is the 1968 Chrysler FULL LINE Commercial. All Chrysler models are shown: New Yorker, Newport, and 300. THAT’S IT. NO IMPERIALS. Why ? Because the IMPERIAL was a SEPARATE DISTINCT MAKE from Chrysler. If it WAS a Chrysler, it would be in this commercial, with the OTHER Chrysler models…especially if it’s a FULL LINE COMMERCIAL.
But, IMPERIAL is NOT THERE…because it’s NOT a Chrysler. They SPONSORED this commercial. They ought to KNOW what their car IS…and what it ISN’T.
