I'm curious about what you do with 2 gallons of milk a day. Do you make butter? Cheese? Feed to other livestock?
How much milk does your Jersey give? What a beautiful animal. Miniature Jerseys and Irish Dexters are great family cows.
We typically get 2 gallons a day from her.

Can you still use the milk if you miss a milking?
Can you just put the pail in the dishwasher? I hate doing dishes by hand!
yes. you can! just make sure your water gets hot enough--if you have a boost or sani cycle that works great.
What essential oils do you use for the homemade balm?
I believe I used lavender, and maybe tea tree... I avoided peppermint for that specific one since we already were using Uddermint for some applications.
What do you do with all that milk?

Is your mini Jersey loud? I am thinking about getting one, but my lot is 2 acres in the middle of a rural area. Technically, I am not supposed to have a cow because the lot is zoned single family, but it is literally surrounded by agricultural lots. It is one of 3 single family lots in the middle of agricultural lots. I want to sneak a cow in here, but if it is loud, it may be a no. It hurts because there is literally a 60 acre cattle farm right across the street! I see cows from my window!
If you only get one, it may be more loud because it is lonely, and looking for other cows. Cows are definitely heard animals, so if it were me, I would no less then 2 or 3. But other people have said their lone cow seems content. If there are other cows nearby I think it would be calling out a lot though, and may test your fence trying to get to them. Just a thought. Cows tend to do what they want sometimes. Haha.

Not cheap, a good healthy cow in milk is 4,000 or up. Just bought a young A2/A2 with a sweet disposition for $5,500 plus hauling.
Is 2 gals. a day the best from Jersey
small or mini jerseys yeah, but medium to large jerseys can give up to 5 or more gal a day!
