You should put engine killed stickers on Blasphemi's fenders like WW2 bombers. ;O) Better luck next year Mike.
I second this!
I love this idea 😂😂😂
I like that idea, plus update the Blasphemi t-shirts after each failure….
Love it!
Oh this totally needs to happen
Mike Finnegan: "That's not gonna happen today."
Lady Luck: "Hold my beer."
No it's Lady Luck: "Tony's here!"
Well..... he didnt drop a valve
It's not really luck, it's just lack of preparation. Ignoring a car for 2 years will do that. That's the downside of owning so many projects like he does.
Gotta Lady Luck Tattoo on my leg & full color to boot...had my artist give her blonde hair for dumb luck too !!
How is running it out of fuel bad luck?
Your dedication to the Hemi in this car is nothing short of amazing. that engine platform has done nothing but break in everyway possible.
...legitimately asking is this even normal? It seems like this car is always broken. Do other people struggle this much to get their cars through drag week?
@@someusername121 Typically most people at drag week aren't test and tuning on day 1 of the week. They have the drivetrain tested in advance, and typically have either dyno time or test passes done prior to the event to reveal any issues. Most of my knowledge on drag week is on cars running modern efi turbocharged cars though, so maybe supercharged motors do have a lower survival rate. Either way, this level of drag racing isn't cheap to get into and certainly is expensive if you drive your car hard and know that things will break.
Finnigan is going to be buying Tony a lot of tee shirts this week.
His shirts should still be reading HOT ROD TV!
And even more beer.
Oof. I feel for you Mike. Thank God for Tony and all the other fine friends that are there for you. Blasphemi might be taking the "Never fails to fail" title from Rotsun.
I would say yes to that title but it won drag week a few years ago...
Every person in America is going to need a Finnegan's Garage shirt to keep that thing on the track.
I'm old.. I used to love that stuff.. not anymore... but I DO love watching you guys do it. Enjoy.
Did ANYONE actually think it would work first time out? It's Mike Finnegan. 😂😂
Well he did win the class a few years ago.
Tough break, but I'm glad to see you guys are still having fun.
These guys live a gearheads dream life. I am envious.
Good luck Fin. Use Drag Week 2022 as the test and tune for the next drag and drive.
Stepping up the parking lot game!
But still not that close to Brent and Goofy with the CRX on Sick Week...that's something else
In this game of life. Having fun should be priority one. Everything else is icing on the cake
Damn!
Taking it like a champ mate.
All the best from downunder.
You'll be back and lovin' it. 🍺
Also from Aus. Disappointed for you Mike.
Oh man I would be crushed, IDK if I'd be able to keep going without like the full crew support FSM has going there.
hi Mike . you are absolutely killing it lately between your CZcams show and motor trend . I just wanted to thank you for all the content you produce its all so great and your living my dream. wishing you and your loved ones the best
Drop a slant 6 in it and road trip!
while a funny comment I think you kinda miss the intent with Blasphemi. If it were any other car from the roadkill fleet or from mike's selection honestly this is likely what he'd do. But Blasphemi isn't just a roadtrip let's have fun car, it's a proper gasser that's meant to race. I dont even think they COULD swap the car to a slant six or even a chevy with everything being built and set up for the hemi's the mike uses
Kudos for your perseverance and good luck the rest of the week!
I agree, but Jesus thats alot of money in hemis
Mad props to you Finnegan. You kept at peace and kept your composure when you figure that the motor was hurt. Some of us would of being in rage at the world!
"I'll zip tie rags around the pipes to stop oil from getting on the track", classic line
Sweet. What a way to start my day. Coffee and racing with Finn!!!!
Tough break brother. At least you're making the best of it, and you live to race another day.
“Keep having fun”…that’s what life is all about! Good luck with getting your rig back on the road!
Your 'Drag Week' turnes into 'Debug Week'...Sorry to see all the foibles, but you are going to have a great time fixing it properly and giving us fans some good content. Thanks for hanging in there and inviting us along.
I guess a leaned out Big block Chevy would have done the same but be far easier to replace in a pinch
And whats funny is the Gen 6 496 (8.1) and Gen 5 (7.4) are truck engines are very strong sbes, its where the LS got its design cues from
Yeah, and a B18 would be even easier, but this car runs a Hemi. There's plenty of BBC Tri 5s out there already. If this man was into the easy route, our lives would all be a little less rich for it.
Hemi is in the name of the car my guy
I would go with anything but a hemi, they're one of the largest pieces of junk ever made in the history of mankind.
Why have a big block Chevy when you can have a Hemi though. Makes no sense.
Whoever is filming and editing is doing a great job.
Good luck guys, good to see you haven't given up, always good to see people in the racing community come together to help each other out.
Talked to Mike Finnegan on Saturday night and after hearing about the trouble just waited for these updates.
I went out in day one also. My first dragweek.
What got you?
I was under the impression that systems like the TerminatorX and such had safeties that could be programmed so that if you did lose fuel pressure (or oil pressure, or whatever), the engine could be shut down. I don't know anything about the TerminatorX other than what I've seen in various videos.
I thought the same thing.
It would be smart to implement some engine protection.
I dont know how much that hemi cost but i know engine protection is cheaper lol
Mike runs it on a Holley Dominator. That has all the bells and whistles. You would think the amount of work and money he has spent on ECU's and sensors etc from Holley, He must get parts sponsored from Holley or at cost. Because Game Over was at the Holley booth at SEMA back in the day.
and Blasphemi is always in the Holley Booth at any event that they are not racing. so I find it ridiculous That it would not have a $150 dollar Fuel pressure sensor on it to save from leaning out. But it Running on a Dominator ECU. the wideband should of caught it as well. A Brand new Keith Black Hemi Race Bare Block is about $8500 Grand. Then the rotating assy and that's if the heads are not hurt. to buy everything to make it a Engine that is at least $40000 grand. Everyone is saying more testing and You would not have this problem. if it had no fuel pressure sensor and the wideband on the Dominator did not pick it up. It would of happened anyway. it might have found the problem sooner. but i don't think Mike has $40000-$50000 grand just under his pillow to buy the parts and Pete have the time to rebuild a new engine in time. Fingers crossed when it is stripped down it is not hurt to bad.
It does
There are safeties, but they have to be programmed, if they aren't set up they don't work. 👍
Definitely a tough break guys! Come back nxt year with a bigger hemi and more powa!!!!!! Tony is one hell of a friend n human to be such a help to Mike! Rock on 🤘 guys!
This is excellent CZcams, gentlemen and ladies. Thank you to everyone including all of the many behind the scenes!!
Without doubt you guys are warriors.
Too bad about the breakage. I was looking forward to following your week of racing and seeing the car in action at Byron.
love seeing you and Tony together. Wish you guys could catch a break some time and be able to just have fun one of these years.
Well that blows. This just underlines how important preparing and testing everything out is. Still stoked to see the engine get put back together and having some fun!
Poor camera man 😂made them run a quarter mile and just left him after getting picked up by mike
🤞🤞Tony and Mike🤞🤞 good luck guys
Breaking is racing... Youre a motivator! Its tough but get out there, have some fun! We support you!
Good to see Big Tony!
back in the day most hemi cars had the starter and other stuff hanging underneath and a large gap between the front tires and fender LOL
Shit happens and fuel pressure drops . Win,lose, or draw I love this car. Checkers or wreckers, Mike will make it happen.
Doesn't get better than this true ROADKILL .FINN MAKES IT HAPPEN.🎸🎸🎸🎸😎
Not the ending you wanted but what and effort by you and your friends true car guys that don’t know when to quit. Kinda of roll models I want my children to see on Tv never give up. Hats off to you gentlemen
Love Tony’s shirt. Seriously, love your never-say-die spirit
I've loved for years how went situations go sideways upside down and on fire Mike always has a positive attitude and perseveres
Easy to do when you have a whole crew to do the engine swap. While he holds a screw driver acting like he is doing something. Shits almost as bad as him calling Kevin to work on his jet boat
Love this channel!
Thank you for posting all the great videos on your channel
Glad you are back on the road, and the damage was so minimal. Let's pray for some fun passes later this week
A checklist. You need a checklist.
BEST COMMENT YET, 100 FREKIN %.
Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance
Perfunctory planning plagues pointless pet project. (This is fun. Do another one.)
Darnn boys. good luck hope to see it back and up and running this week.
I love it when a plan comes together
Tony's shirt! LMAO
You guys are animals lol. I miss those days of working on stuff and no matter what make it happen to go race or even Cruise Woodward Avenue. Best of luck to you guys love the channel keep up the great work.
Great attitude Sir.
You guys are amazing the way you work your asses off👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Finn needs to do a fund raiser video for a new hemi motor with Sarah McLachlan’s “arms of the angle” playing in the background
Mate that was funniest fucking comment i can see it now lol, for inly .20c a day u to can save mike fin from shitty hemis
Is that a 60 degree or 90 degree angle?
Lmao
You guys are nuts.
Finn, I remember watching the episode of RK when you guys roadtripped Blasphemi cross-country. There has gotta be a line where it becomes OK for Blasphemi to not have a Chrysler Hemi.
A slightly toned down Hemi that would run high 9s would be doable and way more reliable
That's the whole point... ? And at 1200 HP ,. a Chevy would blow up exactly the same if ran out of fuel in high gear.
Even tho it broke I love seeing you guys fixing cars and calling people to help that’s car culture
Cool stuff 😎 👍. Tough watching the struggles. But hey, you're not the only ones that are struggling. Hopefully you guys can get back to the road soon.
Hang oonnnnnn did anyone else notice that stretched out Corvette Ferrari looking thing in the background when they were talking about the burst panel????
Factory Five GTM?
I did! I thought from the camera angle that it might be two cars, but I think it is a stretched Vette/Ferrari!😂
yea, it's fugly.
Damn dude, how can you not be running something like a top of the line HALTECH with oil and fuel pressure engine protection at minimum? All that would have happened here is the engine cutting out which you could have logged and fixed much easier than this melt down!
Hope you guys got some parts, can’t wait for next Video
Love the “never die” attitude. Hope you guys make it back to the STL area on Friday!
Told you to use a Jon Kasse BBF... 😂
I make mistakes everybody makes mistakes but damn every single engine you put in there you made a mistake
Bailey with the smart comments. What a guy lol.
Most folks would have been throwing wrenches and cussing up a storm with tears of anger, instead y'all stayed cool and came up with plans and popped open some cold ones and got to work. You guys really show that its fun to hang with your buddies and do car stuff. Hope to buy ya a beer one day soon. 🍻
We've only seen the footage the editor wanted us to see.
@@photodan24 they were in public with folks around everywhere. If they acted like complete dick heads there would be people ranting and raving about it, instead you hear quite the opposite. I genuinely think Tony and Mike are real down to earth guys who take time to shake hands with folks. Id drink beer and hang out with them anytime.
if you add all the money you spent on all the HEMI from blasphemy you could probably buy a house 🤣
Not probably, and likely not just one.
Hemi motors are problematic , Mike proves that time and time again.
Put a BBC 632cid you'll be alot happier
for all of us that were emotionally invested in this...... :(
Make it happen next year!!!
You guys rock, I love the brotherhood community. I ride Harley and the whole motorcycle community is the same. Twin or inline 4. Solid
Epic. Also, great to see Tony.
at what point are all these blown motors going to be attributed to user error.. c'mon
He’s always admitted that
I think most of them were openly attributed to that... This one he freely admits that it's his fault that it leaned out (too little gas in the tank), same with the 2-1 shift on the last one and the party pully when they won their class in dragweek.
From the beginning. The engines were fine. The operator? Not so much. So many fools saying "Get a better engine builder." or "Should have used a BBC."
That sucks on the breakage. But it's also a predictable outcome for Drag Week when you don't test beforehand. At least now you have a year to get the car worked out and ready for Drag Week 2023.
It'll just be the same type of thing next year. "We have 2 days to get the car running, dyno'd, tuned, and then get to the first track of Drag Week." This type of thing kinda seems to be a long-running pattern for as long as I can remember. Not going to even pretend to know the ins and outs of everything the man does and how busy he is, but whoever does his scheduling needs fired or at the very least stop cramming his schedule and leaving himself zero breathing room and actually give himself some time to do some of this stuff, not less than 72 hours. I can see that being fun maybe once just for the experience and to challenge yourself, but it usually just ends up gone bad and I can't even imagine just how expensive when it doesn't need to be.
We all know he'll wait two weeks before the next drag and drive event to start working on this again
Don't be ridiculous, it'll be the same next year 🤣
Lol you really think that's going to happen? Hell no. They either are too incompetent to get it done right or they are doing this on purpose.
@@fast97z24 @FU BAR I don't understand it either. I don't know if they do this crap for "tv drama" shit thinking people won't care or watch unless there is some 'ticking clock' element for needless tension, or if it really is just being incompetent. I guess it could also be lazyness, as I think Mike has stated before he doesn't work on things until the last second because at that last second he needs whatever it is that's broke in a few days. But to me that's just being lazy and procrastinating on fixing it right. I could maybe understand this whole thing if you were in your 20s and didn't know any better and pulling no sleep all-nighters working yourself to the point you can hardly stand with a straight back after being hunched over/under an engine bay for hours with your friends is still fun. But yeah with his experience and the dude pushing 50, it just comes off as being ill prepared and incompetent. Every time they wait till the last second then rush to throw all these expensive parts on a racecar and then expect to just jump in it and go, then act surprised the thing hardly runs or blows a motor.
What a bummer was so keen to see you going down the track, best of luck with the rebuild much love from New Zealand
Awesome video guys!
You might want to think about a 2jz swap or an ls. Those hemi's get a little pricey 💰
Feel like you've had more trouble with a hemi then good times, think the car has taken on a "christine" vibe now, except not killing people just engines.
I was thinking the same when he was installing this new motor. I was like I know this is going to blow it's just a matter of time. Luckily he has the big bucks and connections along with a full time pit crew.
the fun headaches of a new build with little to no testing. Props to see you soldiering on and just motor swapping the car rather than going home. I hope to see you get this motor fixed up and back in the car before this time next year so you can see what this car can really do
Someone didn't watch the video...
Years ago after losing in the finials of Division 1 race I learned the hard way that you always fill your fuel tank before you make a pass fortunately I just lost the race and didn’t hurt the engine. That said this video reminded me of two things
My Momma (God bless her soul) used to say there would be days like this, but all I wanna know is why so often and why always me.
The say self inflicted wounds hurt the worst.
This sucks Mike. If it were me, I would ditch the hemi idea. It just seems like they catastrophically fail way too often. I hope you can get it back up and running soon. Good luck!
He could, but then it wouldn't be the Blasphemi anymore. That and as someone else was saying, you'd smoke a big block chevy with the same fueling issue. Maybe easier to fix though.
they fail but this is more Mike's bad luck/timing coming back to bite him. 2020 the car was actually REALLY well built and ran really well, in fact up until they fucked up the shifter and blew THAT motor the car was basically finished for all intents and purposes. This really was just Mike getting screwed with having no time to test with this motor. They did a sort of basic test and then tried to hammer on the thing without knowing for sure it was what it needed. To be clear, I don't like Hemis, Id rather see a Chevy in the car, BUT Mike makes the calls and admittedly when it runs right Blasphemi is pretty damn mean. here's hoping they get the kinks worked out next year
I totally agree , ditch the Hemi ..... the amount of money, time, aggravation, not being able to race , late night wrenching all for what ? You could have put a bbc 632cid and made life so much easier on yourself & your team. With money to spare !
GameOver is a hemi and its been reliable as fuck.
They didn't fail. Mike failed them.
Chevy power is beter
That sigh was really in the feels. Hoping to see it run Friday!
I’m so sorry man. Honestly, this is an inspiring amount of perseverance!!! You guys are doing a KILLER job!!
I guess the GODS from GM are mad at you, my friend. That is the price to pay for sacrilege. Well time for an LS. And you will be in good terms with the GM GOD'S.
Damn buddy that sucks you guys did everything you could do
"...did everything you could do."-----Except put fuel in the tank!☹
You guys deserve all the beers tonight. Rest up, best of luck. Loving the drag week content Mike!
Love the content as always! Yall keep at it! been watching since day 1 first time commenting!
What is with all these youtubers throwing race cars together right before a major event with almost zero testing. I guess it's for views. I mean you know the freakin race date way a head of time
Not really just CZcamsrs. It happens to pretty much everyone who races. It costs a lot to race which means lots of work to pay for it. Add in family life and the time to prepare the car comes a very long way down the list.
Ignorant much.
I was thinking the same thing. But you have to realize Finn specifically has other jobs.
To your point though he could have just taken this year off to prep.
Dude. It might be time to put an actual Chevy engine in that thing. Apparently Hemis are made of rice krispies now.
I second that. BBC time
This isn't a Hemi problem. Just a low fuel pressure problem.
Hell nah... Blaschevy sounds sooo wrong...
Crap, sorry to see all your hard work finish so early Mike. Great to see TA at the track again!
Weird if Chevy motors are soooo great why do the fastest cars in drag racing use a hemi 🤔 hmm interesting thoughts
I’ve been watching Finnegan build and blow up this car since it’s first appearance on Roadkill and I am always impressed by the “never say die” attitude he has with Blasphemi. Mad respect
man oh man... hemi's seem like so much fun!
Screw the hemi put a big block Chevy in on, problem solved
Freshen up BBC in the firebird. Run it.
Yeah, and put on fake hemi valve covers… that will fool um…. LOL ….😂
They would blow to with no fuel pressure. Just cheaper to fix. He needs a back up long block.
He needs to drop the whole roadkill mentality if he wants to go racing, to be successful a fella has to plan properly, invest the time needed, use quality parts, he's had two years and this result is unacceptable, especially with the resources he has available. He should be ashamed that there are anywhere from 250-300 regular Joe's working regular jobs that are going to finish drag week with limited budgets and time.
Time to start getting it ready for next year!
Wow, can't wait to see how the Cadillac turns out.
Brother that car needs an EXORCISM.
Thank goodness for Tony Angelo!!!
"Oh yeah brother the Hemi is so reliable man"
Mike Finnegan: "Hold my supercharger"
Totally on the edge of my seat wanting to know how this plays out. Good luck!
Keep on truckin guys, you gotta have some fun for all the work your putting in!
