    Man you're a lifesaver. Mine recently started making a high pitched whirring noise (markedly different from the usual sound it makes). After having done a thorough check of all ports/inlets for clogs, I took a closer look at the brushes, and more specifically, their bearings. Turns out one bearing was completely missing! You even have the part# on screen. Many thanks.

    I am one of the couple of people who really needed this educational, informative, and easy to follow step by step video. I really appreciate you taking the time to post topics like this, it's kind of a shame to see the new generation of youth making millions from posting some of the dumbest content I would personally be afraid or embarrassed to even post. I feel as though these types of videos and this type of content being as useful as it is, is plenty more deserving of reward given by CZcams. That's just a personal opinion. Thank you for unknowingly saving the day I planned to spend shampooing the carpets.

    FYI- At 2:16 into video you can see the lid/top closure to the dirty reservoir is not closed or installed properly, this is the reason for the non suction. You can see the caution tape across the top which further proves it’s not closed. Nothing to do with any clogs. Either way this video was helpful for me in fixing mine and it’s always good to do regular cleaning/maintenance . Thank you!

    I have the FH53010 Pet Complete version of this. I love it! I use it almost every day b/c I have a senior dog who is incontinent. I use it on my carpets, and also on my tile floor. The brushes do become very damp, so when I use it on the tile,it leaves them damp. I follow up with a microfiber mop to dry it a little better because anyone with tile floors can relate that they are super slippery and dangerous for people and older pets alike when wet... I DO have a small problem: The latch that holds the uptake wand in place had a pin break off -- (cheap plastic pivot point) We have repaired it with super glue and it seems to hold, but my husband removed the spring from the other side and can't remember which way it goes. I had left it on so he could see how the other side went on if after the repair .... but he removed it. So-- big mistake on my part. I should have taken a picture....but didn't. I have had the unit for 1.5+ years. IMO the pivot pin s/b a rust resistant metal. My only other-beef- was mentioned in the video. The screws in the water tank rusted after less than 1 months use! If I should ever find need to repair that section, I will find some aluminum or non rusting stainless screws accordingly. I think if you periodically maintain/clean this machine, it will give you years of service. . . I have used bissells which were nice, but I like the separate tank designs of the hoover and kudos for finally making an uptake that you can clean/unclog with removable brushes that you can do the same with. I am very happy to find this video w bearing info as well. Something I will remember in the future. I still have a hoover vacuum - 20+ yo that isn't as pretty as the new ones, but still has better suction than other newer models I have tried. my key to success is to care for the machine and maintain it properly.

  • @drewishaf
    @drewishaf Před rokem

    I have the model that this design replaced. They're very similar, most of the components are the same but the fascia and tanks are slightly different (mine is a bit smaller). My problem is with the "dry only" button behind the wash tank beside the handle upright. Apparently they used a pretty crappy switch design that can't tolerate being cycled over 200 times and likes to randomly turn off the dry only mode or just refuses to activate it. So as the unit sat, locked vertically, it decided on it's own to keep on a constant wash, spraying the entire time it sat (about 20 seconds) and would only stop if you unlocked it and began pulling backwards. Now the thing just refuses to go into "dry-only" which is only slightly better than constantly spraying the floor.

    Thank you for posting this video. I have had this same machine for about 6 months and have used it several times. I used it again today and had to continue to clean out the cat hair from the rollers and path that the water goes into the "dirty water tank". Then as I continued to use it the motor started smoking and I turned it off. I am trying to find out how to take off the backing to get to the motor to see if there is cat hair in there or what made the motor just stop working. I stop continuously to keep the tanks cleaned and emptied and the rollers cleaned and this happened today with the motor. I'm pretty unhappy. I will watch your part 2.

    I had the same problem, no suction. I tried everything in this video and Part 2 without success. I finally removed the return tank for the umpteenth time and found that I didn't have the top of it hooked in at the front the way it should be even though it would click in to the place where it goes on the base. I'm commenting even though the OP says something about some vacuum release valve in Part 2 and I have not found this solution anywhere else on the web.

    You must pre-vacuum and thoroughly clean the unit after every use. Plus make sure it's the right tool for the job. If you have pets that shed enough that even your vacuum cannot get all of the fur, get one designed for it. I have this very unit and its been great but I do not have pets and I clean it after every use just as I would any cleaning tool.

    So I have the exact same model, and today while I was trying to clean up a pretty nasty mess (thanks to our lovely Maltipoo), both WASH and DRY lights started blinking simultaneously, and I noticed the roller brishes stopped spinning. Hoover FAQs indicated it might be a roller brush blockage, so I removed the cowl and brushes, cleared everything of debris real good. I checked the grey brush gears to see if they were clogged, tried turning them but they were pretty solid and barely moved, no debris seen however. After putting it all back together, same scenario with the blinking lights and non spinning brushes, only this time I heard a slight plasticy grinding sound, I'm assuming from one or both of the 2 grey brush gears (I'm hoping but doubt I destroyed anything by turning them a bit earlier). I figured maybe the belt was worn and needed replacement; went ahead and ordered a replacemnt belt off Amazon- should be here in a cpl days. I doubt it's a motor issue since we use the unit once, maybe twice a week at most since 2020 when I bought it. Any thoughts?

    I had an interesting problem with a Spin Brush model... the handle would not pull enough to open the spray valve so no water came out. It is under the curved panel on the back side (where your knees hit when your pushing it) and found the valve. The was too much flex in the actuating rod from the water spray trigger/handle to push open the valve. I glued a small (1/2" square) piece of plastic I cut from an old storage container handle (about1/8" thick) to the actuating rod where it contacted the valve to make it just a tad longer and and push harder so now works great !! Cost nothing!... Hope that helps someone.

    humm, I have a fh52023v that promptly spun up the brush roller motor and alternately flash the wash/dry leds. and the brush roller motor would burp or pulse/pause every few sec. I pulled the top off and basically found nothing.. the handle up switch was ok along with the power switch. I finally deduced that the device is push/pull aware because of a sensor on the left wheel, buried under the on/off switch wiring. In anycase I have no idea what WAS wrong as by that time a retest revealed it has cleared while testing!!.. I hate that.

    PSA: BEFORE using a home caroet shampoo machine, please vacuum your carpets. When I say vacuum, I don’t mean a quick pass. I mean vacuum. Side to side, forwards and backwarrds and then on the diagonal. The. Empty your dust canister and do it again. When you stop getting a lot of dust and debris into the dust canister, only then are you ready to use your carpet cleaning machine.
    The more you know. 💫

      I've made entire videos espousing this idea. So many believe a carpet washer is all you need, when pre-vacuuming is a crucial step.

      On my 2nd one. I loved it when it worked. But it leaked everywhere, ruined the motor. Stopped suctioning with the attachment. Too many problems for something only a year old. Can verify it is a piece of junk.

      And mine lasted 3 years before the original owner finally clogged it.
