The fan housing seems rolled over the edge, and the brushes seem permanently wired to the field (eg the coil wire is crimped into the brush connector). Maybe I'm missing something though, was there a connector for the brushes that was easily removed?

    I've never been into Kirby's ... but they are starting to grow on me. I've been watching lots of videos on them lately. I've learned a lot about them. I like how everything comes apart...the bag itself can be washed.... the emptor...the brush roll...the fill tube..... I mean, aside from the motor itself... it seems like you can keep it pretty spotless... and this shampoo system looks really easy to use... I was surprised you got that much of an area covered and it seemed to not need a lot of passes to do a good job.... but I'm not exactly sure what's happening .... It looks like it's putting down water...but it looks so different than what I'm used to...

    • @VacLab

      Kirby calls it dry foam because it uses very little water. It's called encapsulation.

  • @WJCTechyman
    @WJCTechyman Před 6 dny

    Well, looking at this video again, I get similar performance from my Ridgid wet and dry vac as it can power a TurboCat with little suction, referring to your video on that detachable blower Ridgid you did about a year ago. Of course, the bulk of the hose on it has to be the standard 2 1/2" hose and wands associated with wet and dry vacs down to a conical reducer or using the car cleaning kit hose I got with mine. Incidentally, I made a shop vac 2 1/2" adapter out of a spare protective intake screen for my Heritage II/Legend. I seldom use it as I use the upgraded hose I got for it, the longer plastic crush-resistant hose from the Generation series parts I found at a thrift store.

    For other viewers, another difference (and I know Vaclab knows this) between clean and dirty air machines is the fan design. A clean air machine can have multiple stages of tightly fitting, highly curved, many bladed fans, since the air is relatively clean. A fan first machine like a Kirby needs to have a single stage fan with a much larger volute and more clearance around the fan, so it can pass the dirt (and pennies, rocks, marbles etc) that go through it. This is why dirty air machines typically win in airflow and lose in suction, and vice-versa for clean air machines.

I notice there is an allergen model that says it uses ST bags....but if someone buys that model... is the tube that allows ST bags removable and then it becomes F&G? One thing is fur sure....
