Me, here, central Florida, a tomato plant costs $ 3.75. No no for me to pay for this price. I saved all kinds of tomato/ pepper/ strawberry/...... seeds to start in door before to transplant on my garden. And I have all kinds of stuff which are not sold in store. Giant snake bean, yard Long bitter melon, red celery, and mostly Chinese seeds.

Hi Lily, that is super cool that you save seeds and money, also very cool some of the rare varities you are growing. Keep it up, you obviously understand the benefits!!

You know, even the largest garden centers carry only the most popular plants that most people want to grow. If you want to grow something different or something most people haven't heard of you have to order seeds.

Or you can swap seeds with other gardeners.

Hi Heather great call! Yes limited supply from the garden centers. I also totally agree with you seed exchanges are a really good option for local seeds and knoweldge
