Just found your channel. I like your vibe man. Learning a lot. BTW, I had an onion that sprouted. I peeled the onion back to get two sprouts. I separated them and soaked them in water to grow new roots. I then planted the green onions under grow lights in my spare bedroom. That was three weeks ago. The greens fell over and was starting to rot. So I pulled the onions out. To my surprise, I was able to grow 2 small bulbs the size of pearl onions. One of them was almost the size of a table tennis ball. Not bad for my first go around.i'm kinda liking this indoor gardening. I managed to grow cowpeas, kale, lettuce, radish, micro greens, and small baby carrots all indoors under grow lights.

Hi Helena, how nice to see your comment after a long day harvesting garlic scapes in the heat. Welcome to the channel, I like you vibe already too. Really cool what you are trying indoors. I have tried lots of things under lights but not carrots...im impressed. Thanks for watching, taking the time to comment and sharing. Let me know if you have any more of those great unexpected growing moments, they are the best. Take care

Thanks for the good information. It would be helpful if you tell us what zone you are in. When are your first and last frosts. Thanks.

Good stuff. Growing onions this year from seed for the first time. I have read that they tend to grow bigger from seed than if they are planted as sets. Is that your experience?

Thats great to hear you are giving it a go! Yes they end up bigger in my experience. I also have way more transplants to work with when planting by seed, so I can pick the best of the best at the time of transplant. Thanks again for another good question.

@@EasyGardenHacks OK I am kinda like the dog that catches the car. I planted the onion seeds and they came up. Are you moving them to another container before putting them outside? I guess I am asking what do I need to do next?

@@FWYSGT lol...great question. my first plan was to not pot them up, I kept it to about 4-5 plants per cell (not too many) so they should be able to stay put untill garden time. Having said that I will consider transplanting them into 4" pots once 3 leaves have appeared. This will help them make it to transplant time (after last frost date) and be really healthy
If they are getting too long you can trim them with scissors across the top (not too far down the plant leave about 3").
Watch for a video this week on onion growing tips. Thanks again for the question!!

Hi. I use four foot T5 fluorescent light bulbs. My ballast holds 4 of them.
