      Hi Basha thanks for the encouragment!! Super cool you planted the bulbils as well. I am hoping the broadcast spreading has a good sucess rate, if it does I will throw a bunch more down this year lol. Wow looks like you are in a nice climate for growing? You are about 10hrs from me. Let us know how they turn out...I sure will

    Hi Phil, I got my garlic planted out in 2 containers today. I put them in the fridge for a couple of days so maybe they won't get too shocked with the temperature outside. I covered them with some hay I had leftover from a fall display and now they're 4 feet under the snow. Can't wait to see if it works! Thanks for your suggestions.

      Awesome. I love it!! If it works that would be something. I have never hear of anyone trying this yet. Best of luck, you did everything I think you could. Let us know how it turns out.

    Nice video! 👍Can you show us an update on the bubils? Are they growing? I am growing elephant-garlic for sale. It is very hard to buy them in Germany and I can sell them to 1-2 € per clove. 💰

    I hate to keep bugging you about this but where I live there is NO ONE that sells garlic at farm markets. And THAT has got me to thinking too. Can you do a video when they just start to come out of the ground? I initially would like to know what shows the most promise. Where you broadcast does it look like a bunch of grass coming up? All one has to be is patient and in a couple of years you can be swimming in garlic for little cost if the broadcast method works. Little windy tonight for me. Thanks. You do a great job on the videos

      You are not bugging me at all. Sounds like if people like eating garlic where you live you have a market. Where I live there is an anual garlic festival with im guessing 20-40 garlic growers. Even with that much local garlic I have to turn down people every year!!
      I will for sure do a vidoe when they start to come out so we can see if the broadcast method will work. When I was editing this video I did find my old footage on planting the bulbils but there was quite a bit of content so I will also put out a simple how to plant with demonstration video in the near future.
      I expect it will be a bit like grass but am hoping that each clove turns into a decent bulb that I can then gets replant properly when bigger the following season.
      Thanks for the positive comments and questions keep them coming!

      @@EasyGardenHacks just a quick follow up question: letting the scapes go to seed is widely assumed that the size of the bulb will be reduced. Did you see that with yours?

    • @EasyGardenHacks
      @EasyGardenHacks  Před 3 lety

      @@FWYSGT Yes, there is a definite difference, I usually miss a couple of scapes each year and I can easily see the difference. I pick one or two of the biggest best growing garlic and let it go to seed. You can then havest those bulbils. Good starting stock leads to good stock, I keep eating the small stuff and save the best for seed. Similar to tomoatoes if you want to save seed.

    Hello!
    I have been growing garlic for some time but have not dealt with bulbils before. Do you know if I can harvest the garlic if the bulbils have not formed completely?
    I do want a crop of bulbils for my next crop.
    Great video BTW! :)

    • @EasyGardenHacks
      @EasyGardenHacks  Před rokem +1

      Hello, I am not sure what your question is, are you wanting to grow the bulbils and then before they are mature havest the garlic? If so I do not know what the effect if any would be, you likely would have smaller garlic (some of the growth went to the bulbils when they normally are harvested) and smaller bulbils but they likely both would work. If you are asking if you can plant bulbils harvested when the scapes were taken off of the plant but left to mature then yes you can use those bulbils. I have had hundreds of bulbils from left over scapes and have planted them too. Mine were pretty small and will take longer (more seasons) to reach full size. I believe the larger the clove or bulbil the larger the growth the following year. I am really sorry if I did not understand your question. Feel free to ask away. Thanks for watching the video and your question.
