  • A former law professor who was Xi Jinping’s drinking buddy recently published a book predicting an imminent war in the Taiwan Strait. He describes in an interview Xi’s love of alcohol, his view on Chinese population and war among other things. His unique insights into the psychology and mindset of the CCP leader are extremely valuable in helping us assess the war risks in the Taiwan Strait.

The sociology-economic context of the Mao Zedong and Xi Jinping is totally different.
In the Mao Zedong era, the Chinese people have endured 40 years of war and sufferings (Japan, invasion, civil war, great leap forward famine, cultural revulsion). The Chinese people were on survival mode. When you have nothing, you have nothing to compare, to hope for; they had no option but to endure and try to survive.
During the era of Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao and the first mandate of Xi Jinping, the Chinese people enjoyed better living standards and some western style prosperity. During the last 4 years, Xi Jinping new policy have created great hardship to the Chinese: crash of the real estate market and related industries, crack down on private industries, 3 years of brutal zero COVID and brutal reopening. These events have opened large cracks in the CCP brainwashing and created great resentment by a large portion of the Chinese. In addition, the Chinese have seen a drastic cut in benefits and services because the Local governments are bankrupt.
If Xi Jinping thinks that he can impose a North Korea-style regime to China, he will face serious challenges. Controlling a country of 20 million starved North Korean is not the same thing as controlling a country of 1 billion people who have enjoyed some western-style prosperity!

Remember too, we are n a unique set of global dynamics that were not ever present in the past. Weapon technology alone has upped the ante well out of estimation. The control mechanisms & systems set in place by the ruling class bloodlines (who also financed/backed Mao) are presently falling apart. The Age of Information changed everything, evenin China. Thousands of new-technology patents that have been obstructed by the ruling class will, when released, change the global picture rather instantly. There will be no more have/have not dichotomies, which is how they have kept control for so long. A Golden Age on Earth is within reach, but the storm will worsen before that occurs.

China said multiple times that they don't plan to invade Taiwan. It is a US narrative that US media spreads.
Only way China acts is if Taiwan declares independence or a foreign force setup a military base in Taiwan. These are common sense.
What if Puerto rico declares independence ? US military would send the military in less than an hour.
What if any foreign group setup a military base in Puerto Rico ? The US would send the military to Puerto Rico in no time.
And Puerto Rico was taken by force and extortion by the US. READ History.

When will the US government learn from previous experience that you cannot reason with a corrupt criminal like Xi Jinping. Unless these US politicians and rich business owners have been bought by China for their loyalty and cooperation. Taiwan is an issue that the US have mucked around for years and every leader of the US are gutless, scared, unprincipled by not acknowledging Taiwan as an Independent, Free, Peaceful, Democratic and Sovereign nation. The vast majority of the human population have very strong sociopath tendencies in every major country. As a group, they decide who becomes the political establishment. They embrace authoritarianism, government censorship, police states, mass murder and torture carried out by the state and militarism.
Psychopaths are the most popular political leaders among this core population. The US, Russia and China are examples of population's dominated by a mafia king of ethics.
On the other hand the relationship between the political establishment and dominating grassroots population is a violently abusive codependent relationship. . Betrayal and treason tend to be rampant in such human societies at many different levels as a way of life for most. Most people have no problem living the lie.
A prime example in the US of betrayal was the 911 event in 2001 involving mass murder. It was a false flag operation which the government carried it out. The entire political establishment covered it up. The american people as a whole decided to put their blessing on that cover up whether from intent or denial.

Great video Lei! Seems like good insight into Emperor Xi’s mindset. My question in all this is twofold: 1) would the PLA back up Xi’s war? If so, how much? and 2) how much of the common citizenry actually would support the government and/ or military? I’ve heard from insiders there could be significant descent in both those aspects.

There is a severe shortage of women of marriable age in China due to the 1 child policy. Many of the surplus men are in the PLA. The only other country with a ready supply of Han chinese women is Taiwan - if only the number of Taiwanese men could be reduced by death or imprisonment. Then forced cohabitation could be implemented as is done with the Huighurs. So, do I believe the PLA would support an invasion? The alternative would be to support a competitive economy to attract women to immigrate to marry wealthy Han chinese men - like THAT's going to happen😂.

@@kevinjoe1211 agree that some are but there has been information out there that ordinary Chinese are not willing to fight, refuse to let their families go, and have basically said if the CCP wants a war they need to send their families to fight. There have been many indications that that would be pushing many citizens a step too far. There is no way to know if this is small pockets or widespread dissent from the people. There have been suggestions of the same in the military. What the CCP doesn’t get is they can’t brainwash everyone. There are still those in society, especially educated ones that can think and reason for themselves and know right from wrong. Only time will tell how large the numbers are. We see this currently with Russia. With all the propaganda, hundreds of thousands were estimated to have left because they disagree with the invasion regardless of the propaganda. There is allegedly a good percent of the population still in Russia that are against the war but can’t speak out because they would be arrested.

FYI, the Battle of Changjin is better known inthe US as the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir. In my opinion, if winter coats were available, but the commanders fail to supply them, they failed as commanders. This would be negligence. However, the merits of the actual deployment of the troops (and their loss) is subjective.

A possible explanation is the desire by the PLA for maximum speed. A similar calculation was made by the Germans before the Battle of the Bulge - the Allies didn't expect the attack because the Germans lacked manpower, fuel and were under immense pressure from the Russians in the East. The Chinese may have intentionally attacked semi-unprepared to gain surprise.

Despite being a Maoist in his Weltbild as this is the way he was raised, he in my modest opinion hates Mao for all the evil he did to his family.
He is taking revenge step by step by making Mao loose face by outdoing every single of Mao's achievements, like becoming the most powerful nation on earth, conquering Taiwan and by defeating the people who defeated the Japanese on a Long March II.
Btw: the secret in the 2 tea pots always in front of him is simple: in one is not tea...

It is important to understand the psychology of Xi. He grew up during the cultural revolution and his family was persecuted. Inside he probably needed to do complicated mental gymnastics to survive. All of this may have shaped his personality and his deep thoughts about the world. All dictators will eventually make mistakes because of their own egos which limit them from taking any criticism or advice. An invasion of Taiwan may be one such mistake.

For example, The Napoleonic Wars resulted in the deaths of approximately three to six million civilians and soldiers, with Napoleon Bonaparte playing a significant role. Similarly, Adolf Hitler, an infamous Nazi leader and mass murderer, was responsible for the death of millions during World War II. Conservative estimates suggest that the war caused casualties ranging from 70 to 85 million, comprising around 3 to 4 percent of the global population. Another example is Joseph Stalin, who deliberately caused the deaths of about six million individuals. Considering foreseeable deaths resulting from his policies, the number rises to around nine million. Likewise, Vladimir Putin, listed as a war criminal by the ICC, initiated airstrikes in Syria in late 2015. The Russian army's invasion has indiscriminately targeted heavily populated civilian areas, resulting in a horrific loss of life. The final casualty count, including casualties from several other countries, is yet to be determined. In the Ukrainian war alone, the estimated number of injured and deaths is at least 500,000. Reflecting on war, past and present, it is evident that we have not learned enough. Such atrocities must cease, as individuals like Putin exhibit psychopathic tendencies and disregard human life. China must learn from this!
