Faces of two singers who just realized they should probably just be cutting grass for a living.
Hahahahah!
On a hunt to find their balls that just got owned. We all need to humbled.
lol
🤣🤣🤣
Fab comment
He clears two octaves and doesn't even strain his chords, this guy is a vocal genius.
Yup. E2 - A4. The low notes beautifully rich, the higher notes sung tenderly with a clean tone, very difficult for a baritone, then with aggression and fry. Incredible.
And he was SUPER sick during this performance. He had the flu or something. He's amazing.
never heard a singer before that had absolutely no limits to his range whatsoever and sound completely in tune on every note..also the transfers if going between the "growls" or fry and seamlessly back to normal are absolutely 🍌's
I listen to voices first time l heard it l said this is not real. Nobody can do this, Draiman can and lve never heard anyone else that has range and control that he does. DantheMan
Saw this live at Download festival 2016. It was the most beautiful moment I've experienced. 30,000 metal heads/monsters, all stood still in mutual silence in respect for the phenomenon they were all witnessing. Just awesome.
David Draiman is a firm believer that you shouldnt put anything on a record that you can't do live. The voice you hear on any record is EXACTLY what you get from him on stage.
Autotune
@@Belsemora Yep. Producers of Conan did auto tune this performance because he was sick. But.... he can do this live without auto tune. One of the best concerts you'll see.
I totally agree with this. I got to see them live In MPLS at a somewhat small venue during their tour for Ten Thousand Fists, and he is as good, if not better live. I couldn't believe it.
@@MsNwking and david draiman was pissed that they autotunned him he is very much against autotune
@@jkay3161 read something that he was supposed to do an interview for their youtube and just walked out because he was pissed
I've listened to this version probably 100 times tonight.
Each time I've cried and had goose bumps.
I'm a 6'7" 300lb man saying this. Lol.
"I'm a 6'7" 300lb man saying this" - you are this big with a big soul, a big heart ...
Man same here. Tonight.
I know the feeling the 1st time I heard I couldn’t move in awe
I get goosebumps every time I hear it. Every. Single. Time.
I've watched the music video over send over, and every reaction video I can find. I cry every time.
5' 7", 180 just for the record (playing weight 145, got work to do).
‘Disturbed’ won a Grammy for this performance. David Draiman had extensive background training as a child in a synagogue where his dad was a cantor. Then he had operatic training in college. And I agree. He’s one of the best singers out there. Paul Simon wrote this in 1964. He loves ‘Disturbed’s rendition!
Drieux Koeppel nope lost to bowie
Doomest you’re right. They did win the iHeart Music Award for this, though.
Drieux Koeppel saw an interview where he said has classically trained
He mentions in a few different interviews that most songs he records in under an hour, and that this took a full day. He went in with multiple variations and they picked the best one. He spoke of his classical training in how to pay respect to the original.
Fantastic vocalist.
Drieux Koeppel thanks for this comment
David Draiman is an absolute gift to music. Even if you don't like Disturbed. The guy is so talented it's unreal.
Unreal in did, i think nobody is more surprised that David himself, he had never sanged like this before, they toked a universal clasic and toke it to the next level
I wasn't expecting him to be this good to be honest. Like most people I only knew Disturbed's more popular nu-metal-ish songs where his singing is far less refined, I was surprised, he could leave the aggressive growly thing with Disturbed and have a very successful solo career on the side with his clean voice too.
Edz Ballar hmm idk if I agree. He sang the same way in Darkness and Overburdened..those are their slowest songs I believe and has a super melodic tone in those as well
@@metallpt147 hum Ill admit I dont know the songs so I cant coment on that
however I did wach interviews, he did comented about the creative prosess, he didn't wanted to make the cover, he wasn't shure if he cud pull it off. And he originaly wanted to make it more heavy and up beat like the other covers they made before, but the band convinced him to go on the oposite direction he mention he had to use habilities that he havn't used since the church chorus, everyone was surprised on how good it came out.
@@metallpt147 That is what classical music training will do for you. Gives you great voice control.
My favorite part is the "and the people bowed and prayed to the neon God's they made" part. Its like he felt angry and was trying to tear down all their false idols with just his angry, heartbroken voice.
Francis Blackwood S&G's original was a warning. The rage comes in this incredibly necessary cover because that warning was ignored :-/
Best description EVER! That part always gives me chills.
Yeah, that's everyone's favorite, and he knew it would be. That's why that's his "biggest" moment. He WANTED that to hit home. The man's a genius.
Yes, this is the highlight of the song.
All god's are man made... And the song is about our failure at communicating with each other....
I love how he respected the original by keeping it original, but put just enough of his own spin on it that actually made the song better than the original. That is rare!
i agree. a lot of SnG purists hate this version claiming it's unnecessary but the lyrics scream resentment and anger, truer to a screaming metal rendition than the soft poetry of SnG. to me this brought the lyrics to their fullest potential.
Yup...the raspy parts made it better because it is perfect for the emotion of the songs. This is a masterpiece.
this song is not better than the original. this cover is absolutely awful. it does not grab the mood of the song, in fact, it does the opposite. the mood is soft. not screaming like you got your dick trapped in a meat grinder. im raising awareness to the large amount of idiots who doesnt know what good music is.
imagine sitting in a car with this guy, listening to him sing for more than 2 seconds. yeah FUCK THAT
Ultimate Warrior dude your the old man growing old alone yelling at the young couple upstairs “turn it down that isn’t music!!!” That Bill burr talks about
@@ChakasCave Relax ... Its just an opinion. Each is better for the time they were sung. Someone explained it appropriately: the first time it was sung as a peaceful warning about what could happen... The new one is sung angry that nobody listened. I personally get more chills/feels listening to the disturbed version. So I also feel the the new version is better.
I don’t understand why this guy isn’t more famous than he already is. He has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard!! It’s so moving. We need to see more of him doing different music that more people can enjoy.
I'm just thinking about all the dads and moms, older people that have never heard of Disturbed thinking to themselves, "What an amazing vocalist and the music is so chill, I think I'll buy their album for some nice chill music.", and getting to the other tracks on the album.
Hahahaha.....I think a few of the 'oldies' went to their graves before their time....
Listen to this, then Down with the Sickness
Hey!! Decent musical taste doesn't disappear when you pass 50!! This dad is trying to educate his sons into the ways of 'proper' rock music and away from (most) of the crap that passes for music today.
lolololololol u really made me laugh w/ ur comment here!
I am 66 yrs young and could listen to this song over and over again. I remember when Simon and Garfunkel first sang this song and I believe that they wrote this just for Disturbed to sing it the way people of this generation could understand the true meaning. Don't get me wrong I loved Simon and Garfunkel but as a teenager it was just a pop song and now listening to it this way brings me to my knees.
I remember a little while after Disturbed released this, they asked Paul Simon his opinion and he said it moved him to tears the first time he listened to it.
Nick P. The original was a warning. This cover is telling us that warning was ignored. I'd be moved to hysterics if I was the original writer. ❤️
Its beautiful. Powerful. Better in a lot of ways than the original. The words are dark. They didn't do it dark. This, I believe, is how it was ment to be.
Paul also told him that it’s no longer his song because it was done so well!
This version is so raw and emotional! I like the official video better, though.
Lying ass
Not only did he perform this live but he did with the flu 😮 the man deserves a medal
The fact that he was sick at the time makes the performance even more impressive!
The fact that he was sick at the time makes the performance ever more impressive... thank you so much sir,for your Reaction Disturbed...❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🤝🤝🤝🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭👋👋👋
“Teach me senpai,” that was god damn adorable.
I know that wasn't his Song but the way he sang it he made that song his was like WOW amazing.
I love how they shut up once he starts singing. :)
I agree...I've seen other reaction videos on here where the people will be laughing and joking around, then when he sings the first line, that all stops and they are mesmerized for the next three minutes.
I never was a fan of Disturbed but when I heard their version, let just say i had to pick up my jaw on the floor and I would even dare say their version is better than the original. Its just so eerie and you feel the pain and passion in Disturbed's version.
Protect David Draiman at all costs..
Legit spit coffee all over my damn self that is the best comment I've seen on any of these threads it's hilarious and yet soooooooooooooo TRUE!
Heard. And I agree!
This man is a huge gift fr the gods. Unbelievable. There r just NO WORDS
Barb F.
I like this version better than the studio version because, at least for me, I feel every word, note & drum beat as if I'm there watching it live. 1st time I actually heard them perform this was this performance. Still the most viewed video on Conan's site. Incredible performance! Thanks for reacting!
that stage was built for this most studios iv seen is just two rooms one for recording the others for the band or singer. i can imagine if they did this on a choir stage though, the way they make many or those makes almost anything sound better.
Exactly! It felt real and more emotion emanated from it I feel.
Cassie totally agree
Easily the most memorable moment in the history of the Conan O'Brien show. I hope the people in the audience that night realizes just how lucky they were to witness this performance.
He's a natural high Baritone, with good top notes. With age, (and some help from substances) the low notes come out on their own from relaxation. His clean tone is well refined from good practice and technique. When it comes to Rasp, most singers have their own technique to add that in. David seems to up the pressure on his high notes, push with the false vocal folds a bit and bam, good sounding rasp, (after years of practice of course).
I hadn't heard this live version of the song until now. OMG OMG OMG......LOVE IT BETTER LIVE!!!!!
And he was sick during this performance with the flu. A true testament to his talent
The first time I heard his version I was NEVER the same. Full blown goose
Bumps.
Luv u guys

Once a day here...lol
I've listened to this song thousands of times... I'm so old I was at Central Park for their reunion... I'm speechless and freaked out... His voice!!!!!
If nobody will say it, I will, this version is far better and more powerful than the original... That voice!!!
Cheers.
PS: I did not know much about Disturbed until now.
Same here! I don't like heavy metal, but man, I was totally blown away by his cover of S of S.
I wasn't aware of this performer. I've heard this song a lot as well. There is goosebumps. Thank you for this reaction!
Thank you. I subscribed to their channel as soon as I watched this performance.
If you want goosebumps try A Reason to Fight or Hold on to Memories, I saw them in April and they made the crowd cry, David's voice has the ability to transmit each and every feeling of rage, hope, despair, tragedy, tenderness... Their songs are so meaningful and emotional that you identify yourself with them.
I'm a singer .. so i can honestly say... that entire performance is full voice.. no falsetto... and that rasp is his forte!!! He actually went to a coach to learn to UNDO that rasp so he can sing the rest of the song in a soft, clean voice .. it was a very difficult challenge for him....
and!!!
have you guys watched the Disturbed live performance when they got Myles Kennedy to play the harmony.. it's ridiculously good.
Well that depends! If you count Mixed Voice as Full Voice, what a lot of musicians and vocal artists dont, then you are right!
Could you please check my vocal cover? I would be EXTREMELY grateful for any criticism
I was at their concert where Myles sang with him. Talk about goosebumps...I was crying! So good.
Love the myles kennedy rendition but this version
............. Knocks it out of the park, ANY PARK.
I’m about to look up the rendition with Myles on it!
Thank you guys for this special reaction video. I've been a fan of Disturbed for so many years...in this special song you can hear his beautiful, clear voice switching into his "aggressiv" voice - he is truely one of a kind
Which is second best of all his other songs....if you could choose only one?
@@lynette599 OOH AHAHAHAH.
wow what a fantastic voice and song he hit it on the nose so intense and beautiful at the same time definitely one of the best voices out there today and yesterday.
What makes this even more incredible was that against David's instructions the producers gave him a mic with Auto-Tune, he was also recovering from a serious bout f flue that left almost voiceless 2 days earlier and he was doing this live from a seated position and yet his raw talent and power shines through. I saw them in London around the time 10,000 Fists was out and it's an experience I'll never forget, I definitely want to see them live in concert again.
I've loved Disturbed for years but I'm loving that them doing this cover has bought them to whole new audience😊
Just knowing who exactly Disturbed are and what kind of music I'm used to them playing and holy god he can SANG! I loved his voice anyway but hearing such clear, ringing belts... amazing. \m/ What a performance!
Same, I've been a Disturbed fan for years and this song just showcases how amazing a singer he really is
The way he sang this song, was more beautiful and powerfull than the Simon and Garfunkel version for me. you get to feel emotion from this song here. Best ever version for me by far.
I remember the original Simon and Garfunkel version in the 60s and this is just an absurdly amazing rendition. I can't stop listening to it and every time without fail it gives me massive goosebumps and tears in my eyes.
I remember the first time I heard/saw this performance. I had tears streaming down my face by the end. I still get goosebumps when I watch it. I had heard a bit of Disturbia in the past, but had no idea his voice was so good. The range he has is amazing. The deep, richness is chilling. I love it.
The fact that he was battling the flu during this performance and had to prop on a stool because the band and producers were afraid he would pass out just makes it that much more amazing. I know he is known for his metal and he does it perfectly, but try listening to "The Light," "A Reason to Fight," and "Hold on to Memories" he really shows just how talented he a d the whole band really are.
I’m so very happy you reacted to this live version! I love you both and enjoy watching your reactions because I share in your excitement!
The string section was beautifully blended with David's voice
I agree. The backing was very well done. Love the kettle drums! But Draiman's voice is the epitome of vocal mastery, and takes center place!
This song always comands silence. I've heard it live several times and it's always prefect and I'm just left with tears and goosebumps.
So delicate, so powerful, so intimate, so in your face. What range and emotion.
Think i listened to this version like a 1ooox times. Everytime i still get the goosebumps and emotional.
Guys, tx for ur wonderful genuine reaction!
Oh my God! I’m in love with this man’s voice, and the musicians are exquisite! Thank you for this reaction!
David Draiman's voice is AWESOME! He has incredible CONTROL !! Best voice ever!!
Thank you, Marco and Ali. I've been waiting for this reaction! And I didn't know that you were already familiar with the recording, but I'm not surprised. I remember when the original Simon & Garfunkel song was first released, and the impact it had on me back then. I felt the same way all over again the first time I heard Disturbed's version (this very video, the Conan performance).
The first time I heard this song on the radio I had to pull my car over on the side of a highway just to take it in. Such a powerful rendition, and the message applies today just as it did when S&G recorded it
I’ve seen them live multiple times and they are just that awesome live!
Guys, first time I heard this amazing version I could hardly say anything for a few moments. Almost moved to tears. I remember thinking WTF have I just watched? It's like a gift direct from God almighty. David's incredible voice backed up by the incredible orchestral arrangement are a match made in heaven and to think he's singing this live is almost beyond belief. I've watched this hundreds of times now and every time, although I know what's coming, I still get goosebumps. WOW.
you guys have to watch the Live Version with Miles Kennedy being the Simon to David's Garfunkel. Its soo good and filmed right here in Houston!
ShokyReviews Their harmonies were incredible.
ShokyReviews Yes
2 of my fav singers together!!
Yous right!
I didn't even start watching the reaction to this video before coming straight down here to make the exact same comment. 😁 Myles Kennedy has such a beautiful voice, he sings highs like no other. It's so unique that you recognize it as him immediately when you hear it.
Teary-eyed while watching. Your reaction is priceless.
So glad u picked them live on Conan. The "official video" does not justice to this guys voice. He's so remarkable. I can reply this song over and over......!!!! True talent
David Draiman was very ill with a cold or flu during this performance, running a fever. There might be a bit more nasal tone a few times, but really, he killed it. Astounding.
This was one of your best reactions!!! I feel the same way with certain songs and voices. You guys looked very emotional like I felt. Blown!
Damn!
That vocal in live!
#Powerfulvocal
Nice reaction guys. Nice video!
David also sang this with Myles Kennedy live. It was beautiful
I loooove this live performance. It's better than any other. David Draiman's performance was exceptional especially since he was under the weather at the time.
omg I love his version !!! tears in my eyes !!!
Definitly better than the studio version!! More realistic more feelings!! Just perfect!
I have been waiting for this day!!! David Draiman is a genius and I wanted you to react to this so bad!!! I love your videos you always have such great comments. Keep them coming!
David's voice is absolutely incredible! Loved the original but this takes the song to a whole new level. I bought 2 of their cd's, after hearing this track and love them! What he can do is just amazing. Would've loved to have seen them here in the UK but no tickets left. 😔 If only I had come across them earlier. Gutted!
Makes me cry every time absolutely amazing
4:12 goosebumps.... mine started like a good 2,5 minutes befor that! :) also i like both your reactions: the one dude just blabbing blabbing and the other guy just stunned like what the hell this is too much
MIND- B L O W I N G!!!
W O W WoW W O W, There are NO WORDS to cover the feeling this version, the way his voice makes me feel... AH TRUE TRUE TALENT!! sigh
Loved watching your expressions. You started out thinking, soft beautiful melody. Then the furrowed brows as his voice gets stronger and stronger.
I love how the one guy just knows what they're getting into...
"Can he really do this live?"
"Oh yeah."
...and then as the skeptic keeps being shocked by how good it is, he just keeps nodding with this "I told ya so" look on his face. Haha
Ironically he was sick when he did this. And for it to be perfect is AMAZING!!
It's hilarious how all you reaction people lose your ability to speak when David opens his mouth lol. David Draimon is a God!
Love the video, guys. That voice is awesome!!!
Pure talent!!! That’s all. The man is amazing. Makes me tear up every time.
You should watch "David Draiman Warm Up" It's a video of him singing Unchained Melody while warming up. It's only a one minute video so I don't think it would be very good for a reaction. Just watch it by yourselves. It's truly amazing.
I just went and watched it - that was just him warming up!?!! Wow
Insane voice!
insane autotune
I absolutely love your reaction, I have watched this waayyyy too many times, but I don't care I will continue to do so...So funny though, I got goosebumps the exact same time that you did. My Dad used to play Simon and Garfunkel when I was a child (yes I'm old) so that's all I knew of this song. They brought out the wine, David brought the whiskey. And apparently this version brought Simon to tears, you can't get a better stamp of approval then that! :) thanks guys
I love this reaction. I felt the same way. I was forever changed after watching this. It was surreal.
True talent in the face of so much fakeness that's out there nowadays. I have so much admiration for David Draiman. He should be singing on Broadway.
"The Sound of AWSOME!"
Goose bumps. David Draiman's voice restores my faith that not all 21st Century "singers" are half assed, bubble-gum brats who feud with each other when they jump to the charts via a t.v. talent show. Draiman's talent is authentic, hard earned and flawless; he and others like him pay their dues.
I love their reaction. RIGHT! WOW. Speechless. Gives me chills
This was the first version of "The Sound of Silence" i've ever heard.
I grew up hearing the original version. This one is so powerful and different from the Simon & Garfunkel version that there's no comparison. Both are enjoyable. But this one gives me chills.
Thank you for doing this. I like disturbed s version better than the original.
One of my fave song ever😍😍😍😍
And i remember my father hes always singing that song..thats why i love this song so much ❤❤😍and i loved old songs forever
Thanks for doing this!
OMG😱 at last.. I really 2 love this.. Better than d original..
This is totally off topic but the dude in the blue shirt looks like Brian Quinn from Impractical Jokers 😂
Holy shit he does
An awesome performance that I can listen to everyday for the rest of my life!
Ahhhh~~~~~ Finally!!!! Thank you for your reaction~~
There is so much difference between this and the original.
You know that's what happen's when you have a classically trained and practiced vocal artist. Instead of some babbling commentator sitting on the side line's who is just watching a live presentation looking for a fault.
What a great video, I tear up everytime I hear this song!
BELIEVE IT! I love them & I got my ticket sept Atlanta Georgia I’ll be there again
This is a very Dramatic and almost Operatic interpretation of Paul Simon's song. I feel that Paul would really approve of this cover because the performance only heightens the meaning.
richb313 he actually was gobsmacked by it and called Draiman shortly after the video came out. Draiman was understandably touched by that gesture from Simon.
Paul actually endorses this cover!
You guys have to react to Zombie by Bad Wolves!!!!!
Aggie2014 yeah if ya wanna cry.
robert shimek I didn't ask you!
Aggie2014 wow dude. Douchebag much?
robert shimek I didn't suggest this video to make them cry. I Just thought they might like this version of the song.
I love watching other singers react to stuff like this because I see full on the reaction that I had....those who have history with singing be it professional, church choir, school choir any thing like that they understand how shit works what sounds good (normally) and when they feel something the head starts nodding the brow furrows the the corner of the mouth raises lol every time
I can’t remember how many times I’ve seen this but it blows my mind completely every time 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
An undeniably powerful performance full of grit and emotion but I think I like the original Simon and Garfunkel style a little better and that includes the Peter Hollens/Tim Foust version. This one would have to rank just barely behind those though.
There is a Tori Kelly video that you need to react to and that is her "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing". Absolutely fantastic but there might be a copywright problem. You need to figure out some way to do a reaction to it though. Even if you have to do it like you did with the PTX "Perfect" video.
God: David, do you want the voice of an angel or a demon?
David: yes.
Subscribed. Thank you for the awesome videos
When I heard David singing this song for the first time I was absolutely speechless. I could not believe what I just heard. He ja truły gifted singer, one od the best on history. I enjoy every time I listen to his interpretation od this great song. Andrzeja every time I feel a strony shudder on my back. Amazing how music and extraordinary voice can influence us...
Hes a trained opera singer... and grew up to gospel... what do you expect
He didn't grow up to gospel....his father was a cantor in the "Jewish-church".... far removed from gospel.
@@lynette599 well I watched a documentary on him and that's what it says

Beyond GREAT, Best reaction I've seen to this master-work of a revival song. THANK YOU for your honest reactions, subscribed and thumb's-up'ed. Happy 2019, party-on from Chi-Town.
