This version of Sound of Silence is almost a religious experience. His voice grabs your soul and makes you listen
It has close to a billion views here in the states - this song is almost 60 years old & the lyrics are just as relevant as they were 60 years ago, even more so!
And the accompanying Tympany player perfectly punctuates David's singing.
I've listened to the original version all my life, but THIS VERSION makes me teary-eyed every time I hear it. Watching you and other reactors discovering all this great music makes my day, thanx

I whole heartedly agree, I never thought I would like any version more than the original but this takes my breath away!
Because of this cover, I finally understood the lyrics.

Absolutely love this version of this song. David's voice is just sublime, he has a fantastic range and the emotion he puts into the performance is incredible.
First of all , everything about this version is quality built on quality. A beautiful song from decades past catapulted into the stratosphere. Secondly, having listened to many reaction videos by others and a handful of yours, I have to say your enthusiasm and passion for classics is second to none. Keep it up.
A few things:
1) David Draiman is a trained Cantor
2) this song was written by Paul Simon in 1963 and first sung by Simon and Garfunkel.
3) David was ill at this performance - hence him sitting down.
4)When Paul Simon heard the studio version, he was so struck that he turned to David Draiman and told him "That song is now yours."
5) the video is much better

Damn! David Draiman can sing! ...one of the best on the planet imho. He can even put vibrato on distortion! ... which is incredible difficult to do. Sometimes he sounds sooo angelic... then on a dime comes the distortion and back... which is again so difficult. The man has such control of his voice! ... it's really amazing! Grew up listening to the original version, because of my father. I like that Disturbed give it a new twist. I love both versions (kinda like for the song Hurt or Nothing Compares 2 U).

As an old school Disturbed fan, his voice his tremendous. Disturbed does a cover on almost every album. From Tears for Fears, Phil Collins, to this one by Simon and Garfunkal. They make each one their own. ❤ Fun fact in 2001 the singer was in front of me in the beer line in VA Beach at Off-fest 😂

Never liked metal but David’s voice is so awesome I’ve fallen in love with their music 🤯 I see you are into the heavier stuff but Pentatonix has a cover of this song you might want to checkout. They’ve been together since 2011. They are known worldwide. Have 3 Grammys. Multiple platinum albums. A star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Even if you don’t do a reaction to them they are worth checking out. They also have 20 million subscribers and over 6 Billions views. Their fan base are called Pentaholics and they are extremely loyal. Would probably bring in quite a few subscribers 😂 oh yeah, one more thing. They are acappela. 🤭

I discovered this cover and started following Disturbed. This performance is good. Watch the original black and white 2015 video. It give real meaning to the lyrics! I enjoy their metal and nonmetal songs. Their videos are works of art! Draiman was a classically trained Jewish Cantor, as his father and grandfather before him. I heard that his brother is an opera singer?
I like this version of the song better than Simon and Garfunkel’s for sure! I was blown away by his voice too!!!

Hey man a lot of bands for whatever reason give their best performances on Conan. Please check out Panic at the Disco performing 'Death of a Bachelor' live on Conan. Top tier vocals for sure plus just a killer song. You'll love it.
