Buying a Tesla is a terrible idea right now. It’s still early. The technology is steadily improving and batteries will be getting cheaper and cheaper every year. It’s best just to wait a few more years for the technology to mature first and achieve economies of scale. This will allow all the early adopters to pay through the nose and deal with all the headaches of these early models. If they want to throw away their money, let them. But don’t let FOMO take over the rational part of your brain.

Teslas have minimal to no maintenance due to the fact they don’t have engines they have electric motors far less complex and less moving parts, far less liquids, no trans fluid, no oil etc.

New cars and especially Teslas are in short supply. Sell it before you pay for it. You can sell your place in line. Do not take dekivery.

I see so many talking about the cost of the car. Don’t forget, there is a lot less maintenance. No gas. Highest safety rating ever. The list goes on. It’s not just a “cool” car. It gives you value as well. In the end it comes down to peoples decision. Where they want to put their money.

I wouldn't put it on Turo and rent it out because renters often drive rental cars harder than one that they own but there may be another option without putting up any more money.
He may could sell his contract and his place in line to another person who has the money to buy the Tesla and would pay cash for his contract and close in his place. He could then take the cash he gets and pay down his debt.
Dave Ramsey used to wholesale houses to generate cash this is very similar.

I never bought a Tesla. I did, however, buy into TSLA (the stock) way back pre-Kathy Woods. Right now I'm looking ant a return of 1930%. Way WAY better than buying a stupid car.

Renting on Turo is a bad idea unless you have a fleet of cars for the business. It is a huge hassle to manage

There is like a 6 month waiting list to buy a Tesla. If you got yours, you can sell it for more then what you paid.

I’ve heard numerous horror stories of people renting Teslas on Turo and beating the heck out of them. Also the renters will always supercharge at a high rate and to 100%. Very bad for the batteries.

I just saw one Tesla and it’s side mirrors were snapped off, teh alloys were bent, someone purposely cracked the vanity mirror - none of this was covered in warranty but just vicious. I’m sure a lot of people can’t drive that use turo.

@@cassphanh6678 makes sense vs buying a gas guzzler with similar price tag. News flash: some people do buy expensive cars. Reducing the monthly cost of operation by 25% only make Tesla’s a bit more appealing.
