I bought an Amish horse and buggy with low tech no screens and only 1 horsepower. I upgraded to the fancy bucket for oats and the 2 hand pooper scooper. I feel like I'm on the cutting edge of low tech.
SPOILER: Not once did she mention how much she spent on the Tesla or even which Tesla Model she is owns.
She mentioned the "yoke" so it's got to be an "S" right?
@@pickitupgolf276 I think so. She also mentioned door handles that extend out, so the 3 and the Y are out.
@@pickitupgolf276 or x I think cones with yoke if you want too.
Can’t imagine she would buy a S … gotta be the X with the Falcon doors.
Who cares how much she spent? People buy expensive luxury models all the time. 😂
So how much did you pay? The title is misleading as it was never mentioned how much you actually paid for it.
Well she said that it has the yoke steering wheel which means it’s either the Model X Plaid or Model S Plaid which means it’s a little over 100k starting msrp
@@joelplatt2651 would be nice to actually get told what she paid rather than use a click bait title and waste 10 mins 😂
Any 110k car will have some unusual problems.
@Tavari she said that's an option if you want a budget tesla
Clickbait video, disappointing...
Rachel you and George need to do a tesla segment on your podcast!
I love how you phrased this/ positioned this. It really is all about living a life that YOU love, regardless of what anyone else in your life says or does.
I just love how you're SO down to earth and real; like REAL with people. You speak to the camera like you are speaking to a friend. Feels like you are actually genuine.
You built a life you love ❤️ thanks for all your uplifting content!
This is why people like you so much Rachel. Vulnerable moments of sharing and being real. Thanks for sharing, you rock!
She is millionaire so she can do it 😅
Thank you for the honesty!
Good video! I have a Model 3 - the budget one you describe. Right after buying it, my wife and I drove from one coast of Canada to the other and back. Most fun car I have owned. I've turned into a bit of an evangelist and tell everyone "All those negative things you have heard about range, power, finding chargers etc - none of the negative comments are true". The electric grid will manage just fine by the way - people are not cooking or drying their laundry at 2am when the cars are charging.
I’m sorry to hear about the reliability problems, I’ve heard that quality control is a major issue with Teslas. I hope they figure it out.
Hey Rachel…We too are a Tesla Family. We bought both of our Teslas, Model X and Model S, used!! My husband and I are techies and we absolutely love our purchases. I’m also an apple user, phone, computer, Apple TV, headphone etc, and with any technology there is a possibility for glitches BUT guess what those glitches can and do also happen to mechanical engines. Our cars have saved us a lot of money because along with our electric car, we have solar on our roof. So charging our car is all but free. I am an all cash budgeter and the one envelope you will not find in any of my binders/wallet is tune up/oil change & GAS.
I completely understand, not wanting to tell anyone about it. But it happens to all of us, at some point of time.
Keep up the good work!
I’m taking Dave’s side and sticking with a Raptor.
King of resale too
Thank you for your honesty
Love the video Rachel! Please give us an update on how the car is doing these days!
I love that you are your own person.
I have a four year old Model 3 Performance. I have not had any issues and it saves me money. The driving is less stressful and no maintenance fees. I was spending $450 per month on gas with my old Acura MDX. Now I charge at home. I was able to buy the car when the prices dropped and also had the tax credit.
Love your humility, Rachel!
Love this show!
Love it.. it’s all true..Thanks Again..
Glad you’re talking about this
You go girl. Don't worry about what others think. And going off of some if my Lyft passengers, and since you are about money instead of credit cards, please keep into consideration putting cash aside for when the nain battery pack fails. Also, to make the battery pack last longer, you can probably get feedback from other Tesla owners, as well as Google. I admire & respect having the courage to go online.
There is a manual release located in front of the door switches. Only the front doors are equipped with the manual release option. I hope this helps you out.
I bought a model Y a year ago when gas prices were really high. I have 2 kids in traveling year round hockey and lacrosse. So I drive a ton. I have saved a ton of money on gas. Plus the kids really enjoy it. I charge at home and even installed solar panels. One of the best purchases I ever made.
You def did not save money buying a Tesla. They are very expensive.
Running it with solar is the way to go. I have the solar now, someday, the Tesla will park there.
That is a crazy story!!!! Im glad you are okay.
Why wouldn't she be ok? The car shut off, it's the equivalent of your engine stalling.
@@michaelc7014 Sure, let me tell you...when someone stalls in the freeway and even in the street, someone could have crashed into her. Especially when the power steering unit is also an electrical unit, no power also means no steering.

You’re helping transition the world to a sustainable future (and mostly having fun while doing it)! Unfortunate to hear about a few of those issues, however. Hope it’s fine going forward. Should be.
Nothing sustainable about mining lithium. Work in the mining industry.
@@reaper-sz5tm nothing sustainable about our current oil consumption either. A recycling future is part of the equations as well.
You should buy a Cybertruck or a Rivian truck and really upset your Dad.
Or wake him up.
Cybertruck is vaporware. Rivian is excellent.
Haha this comment is funny. “Look Dad, I got a Rivian. You like?” 😂
Last time he talked about it, he said that they’re cool, he is just scared of them because you cant hear how fast you are going.
I'm 79 years old and test drove a Model Y last week. I was really impressed. It's not luxury (like a Lexus) but completely techy. It's the SAME PRICE! Acceleration is addicting. Now I can't make up my mind. I appreciate your candid assessment
Right now, my husband and I are saving for an electric vehicle to replace our plug-in hybrid which we love. We have no debt at all. We will put a 220 v charger in our garage.
You may not need 220V if you drive less than 40 miles a day on average
We put a 220v in our garage and it’s great.
Which plug in hybrid do you currently have?
@@morbotheturtle3796 we have a Pacifica plug in hybrid.

Rachel, you do you!
I bought a brand new Subaru Crosstrek for $26,000, it has great gas mileage. It’s all wheel drive, I don’t see anything great about electric cars
Same! Love my Crosstrek, reliable and safe. Tesla is for keeping up with your neighbors.
The main thing would be that based on the price of gas vs the price of electricity and added efficiency, an EV essentially gets 100mpg.
6:33 she talks about the cheapest model but never says how much she paid for it.
RACHEL AND ALL! The electric vehicle tax credit does not work out for everyone. First, if you are self-employed, it cannot be applied to your self-employment tax. In my personal situation, 75-80% of our owed tax is SE tax. So, if we owe $10,000 in tax, we would only get to use $2,000-$2,500 of that electric vehicle credit. Also, the credit is "use it or lose it." If you can't use it in one year, you are out of luck. Finally, if you prepaid your taxes, as most do through the year with their employer, you also won't get the credit because it is NON-REFUNDABLE. You are best to buy early in the year and stop your withholding so you can make sure to be able to use the tax credit. I learned these things from my CPA yesterday. You should probably do a follow-up segment to explain this or you may end up with some very upset followers...!
Way to go Rachel !! 😂 I bet your dad has the one liners everytime he sees you in it 😂
It just convinced me that I’m never buying electric.
Just bought a new model Y for 34k after tax rebates
Model 3 just got cheaper yesterday, $39k - $7500 tax credit
Same at 44 only had 4 vehicles and still own two of them
Yolk steering wheel plaid???
It's still 43,000, it isn't a refundable tax credit.
And the credit gets cut in half starting tomorrow.
@TheRachelCruzeShow Rachel I am 1000% behind you! I want one of those too! I'm only on Baby Step 1 so it's definitely a long way off, but it's also definitely a dream I won't let die!
I've been driving electric only for 11 years, Leaf then model Y, I have been fortunate with no maintenance in those years - except tire rotations & windshield wiper change. Charging at home saves a ton in the long run and is really more convenient. My car was paid off quick by TSLA gains. Under no circumstances would I consider buying a gas car again, If anything being grid independent might be the next thing as costs for power walls come down, to get and use your own power, then no need for power company at all, until then EV electricity costs are negligible compared to what I would have spent on ⛽
Bought a Model Y Performance after the price drops in January. Worth every penny.
Girl, enjoy life 🎉... You are well off financially so, splurge some green in things that you really like and enjoy. At the end of the road we take absolutely nothing to the next life. It is good to build some wealth but you can't buy time later in life.
Clickbait as there is not one mention of how much you spent. Title is literally "What I Actually Spent on My Tesla"
I feel ya Rachel... My co-workers make fun of my car too! At least, until they get in it, and realize my Prius V is spacious, comfortable, quiet, paid for, and and gets 20mpg better than their car. As for Tesla... I kinda need to go more than 200 miles occasionally... so, no!
Dave knew because he has mentioned before he was paying for your car electricity while you were working..he needs to install charging stations at the campus so you can all pay for it and not make the company pay for it..unless everyone at Ramsey Solutions gets a fuel credit...which I doubt.
Rachel is always humble.
That’s prob why she didn’t talk about the details of her Tesla.
I have no problem with Hybrids, but would never buy a full electric vehicle.
I’m a Toyota girl. Currently driving a 12 year old Prius C. I’m starting to consider my next Toyota. Likely will be a Rav-4. I would park a Tesla anywhere near my house. We’ve had a few catch fire near us. It’s scary.
I have Rachel's experience. I get strange looks from my relatives, even when they have a laundry list of issues with their gas cars. It almost feels like a political discussion.
Own 3 EVs and love it. Best cars ever
My parents have had EV cars for about a decade. I borrowed a Nissan Leaf from my dad for several months back in 2017 while I was in school and enjoyed it. But have not taken the leap to EV for myself. I have a Kia Niro hybrid because I have a long commute and at the time I bought my car no EV's had the range that I need. But as the range gets longer and more public charging stations become available I think my next car may be an EV.
I love my Model S; bought used, paid cash and dropped by $400 a month gas bill; added a $100 a month to my electric bill WIN WIN WIN.
Why is the title click bait? It was stated actually spent and that was not provided😒 please don't click bait
I do love my Tesla. All the smoke screens people warn me about are just not my truth- I charge at home, simply plug it in at night and it's fully charged in the am, and once every few months use a Supercharger (always easy) and i've never had a single mechanical problem in four years. I don't try and convince people to buy a BEV, that's a choice i'm not willing to try and force on others but for those of you thinking about it.. I LOVE IT!! (and yes i do really get about 300 miles of range, which takes care of nearly all my driving).
I was at a gas station with a charge station it was full with 10 slots and 10-15 people waiting to get charge. Sorry not going to happen with me.
The thing is that you can charge in your garage too. But yeah, the infrastructure has a long way to go
We've owned Teslas for 4-years. Our total wait time for chargers: 0 minutes, 0 seconds. We do 98% of our charging at home- much easier than screwing around with gas stations.
We have free charging stations in town. I guess it takes 4 hours to charge for free. It’d be cool if you lived next to the charging station, but other than that, who would want to wait around for 4 hours?
I live next to a charging station and still wouldn't buy one. At the charging station I always see them and they sound like an old dump truck when they go over bumps.
It can be plugged in to a regular outlet at your house. Some electric companies offer cheaper price for overnight. Tesla super chargers can charge the car up to 80% in about 30 minutes.
@@NeverendingBlonde yeah, I’m aware. I just like the idea of free charging. Very enticing, but at least in my town not practical yet.
@@bethanyg153 most charging we find isn’t free. It’s cheaper to charge at home than most of the other charging stations.
home charging is how nearly all current BEV owners charge. plug it in at night, fully charged in the am. I know that doesn't work for everyone but it's the reality today, and it's amazing.
Bought a used Tesla for $35k a couple years ago, LOVE IT. And as a plus I dont have to worry about the price of gas anymore, and last year I saved $5k in gas. (I drive alot)
She mentioned back orders, so she must have purchased new and I believe it was the MX as well.
I don’t understand why people hate on electric vehicles
Because they are a complete fraud. There is nothing environmentally friendly about them. Also, the human rights issues surrounding the production of some elements of the cars are sickening.
@@EmeryShae Not only that, they catch fire and there's a service monopoly on them, which means you'll be ripped off at the stealership every time.
People hate the government forcing them on us. It would be like government mandated iPhones. Sure, they are good phones, but people don't like being forced to do things and like choices
Simple to look into the opposition if don't understand it. There's very little customer service. Did you see the warnings after the FL hurricane not to drive EVs bc they were catching fire after water damage?
It's not economical in the slightest, producing them is absolutely horrible for and damaging to the environment it claims to save, and the labor issue around the materials is shameful.
@@EmeryShae Change terrifies some people. Resistance to change tends to be strongest among older and less educated people. That fear of change drives a lot of the irrational hate mongering.
She spoke about yoke steering. She must be owing model x or model s which is close to $100k. She is in her 30s and she is in step 7 and bought a 100k car with cash. She is gifted.
Talking to lower income folks about baby steps but show the drip. Can we see Dave's Rolex collection next?
🤣 Rachel you're hilarious sometimes 😉
Don't feel too bad about it, it has happened with regular gas cars too.
I am a TF (Tesla Fanboy) but every once in a while I will watch someone who absolutely does not like Tesla just to keep me in check.
My husband went & brought 3, sold 1. We have 2 left. It’s okay Rachel😅
One might not like a Tesla, but why would you be so opposed that your kids would be scared to tell you they have one......just odd. Yup, go and live the life you love, within the bounds of reason.
Doesn't matter what she paid. Call a dealer. These electric cars have their place. Warm climate and short commuters. I like the idea but I have no use for one. Minnesota is too cold.
“Everything is computerized”, Tesla can force you to buy another car when they decide to discontinue firmware updates.

Love my model 3 so much, even though I’m in baby step 2. 😬
Hold up! Since Rachel said she used Apple Pay via the Tesla app to make her purchase, does that mean she paid cash for a brand new vehicle instead of a used vehicle?! Although I believe they also teach you can buy brand new once net worth is over a million and you pay cash. If that's the case, then congrats to Rachel and Winston!

Wait until she has to pay to replace the Battery after roughly 5 years. She has a higher electric bill due to the charging but it is lower than gas prices, but replacing the battery could be 5,000 or higher.
They just lowered prices you could get a model Y for 46K now 👍
Wait for the battery replacement is needed....All of the cost of gas looks better. For instance $50 to fill up the gas tank say 52 weeks a year...all good. BUT when the battery goes out in the Tesla, a LUMP sum of thousands of dollars needed NOW.
The real question I have is , does Ramsey allow you to charge at work ?? Or do you have to provide your own energy to get there , like everyone else ?!
Dave does, on 1 of his shows he grumbled about why is he expected to provide a charging station 😜
To be fair, they should install a gas station at their work too!
I think in some states, you are required to put in charging stations at new office buildings.
Wait till you need to replace the battery?!

Yeah, but at that point you essentially have a brand new car for $10k. It would be like replacing your engine, transmission, fuel tank, fuel pumps, and parts of your frame in a normal car
@@morbotheturtle3796 not accurate. Something that drives a transmission is different than a battery. You still need tires, drive train & there are mechanical parts that are the same as a regular car.
Love wild Rachael 😂😂
My same thoughts that it's like a spaceship! I dig Teslas as a geek, but it's hard for me to still stomach the price. (I hear your dad's car rants replaying in my head lol ;). I was very reluctant in getting one... But folded after my wife persuaded me (or won that battle lol) to get the Model Y LR in 2021, so I say it's "her car." I thought it would be an interesting experiment, but here we are after two years of ownership... We've certainly had our share of malfunctions (spontaneous reboots while driving, door problem, etc). And I was skeptical about how it would fare on an extended road trip with kids, but we've done a few of them (and we don't mind the charging stops for breaks). Tesla is pretty innovative and in terms of performance it's hard to beat... I just wish they had a level of quality on par with a Camry, Accord, or Civic!
Lol at the last sentence . Why did u pay 2x times for this garbage then ?
Even assuming she drives a Model s (currently about $90k), that's the same price roughly as a Raptor, Dave's ride of choice. To each their own!
That's not how tax credits work, btw.
Credits, yes. As long as you owe at least $7500 in taxes, you get $7500 back. Are you confusing credits with deductions?
Hey Rachel! Go you on going going after your dream even though you had people making fun of you for it. I appreciate this video and your honesty with the problems you had with your Tesla on the front end. HOWEVER, the title of this video was very click baity and misleading. You didn’t say how much your Teslas and/or the repairs cost. That would have been helpful information for those of us interests in getting one ourselves.
Give Dave time, eventually he’ll test drive a Rivian or go for a spin in an electric F-150 and he may sing a different tune. It’s all about the trucks for some folks.
I love tesla, and the stock!
Do you still trust that thing?
Sorry I’m sticking with your dad on this one. How disappointed he must be 😂
I can just imagine when you want to buy a Tesla: guardian angel Dave on your right, demon Rachel on your left. 😂
I respect your views on this. It will be interesting to see whether you or George develop any more issues with the Tesla which I hope you will also share on here if that happens. The future could have been electric cars or hydro cars a hundred years ago but both Tesla the inventor and the inventor of the hydro car were assasinated to allow the oil industry to take over. I have also learnt that the lithium batteries are mined by child slaves in Africa and are very toxic with a limited shelf life so not sure how they will dispose of these things going forward. Rare earth minerals are being mined for these electric vehicles.
The Chevrolet Bolt is a lot cheaper than a Tesla.
And a Toyota Corolla is a lot cheaper than Lamborghini Huracan.
Make sure you park it outside away from the house...
I don’t think that a electric vehicle would do very well for me with the weight of the tools and supplies I have to carry. Also, I definitely would not buy a used one only to have to turn around and buy an expensive new battery for the car.
It all seems like a great idea for people that already have a gas truck and lots of money to throw around to get an electric car for the savings per mile.
now that Teslas's have been in mass production for more than 12 years they're finding battery degradation on an older tesla is truly minimal- the battery will probably outlast the vast majority of cars on the road. As it relates to your needs, maybe a BEV isn't right for you today. To each their own!
Guess the old man needs to install free chargers at Ramsey solutions and he can pay for the electric, that would be funny.
Any car can breakdown, which is why it’s so ridiculous that they’re all expensive. 😂
I hate the spaceship fancy vehicles. Give me a 67 mustang, or 70’s F-150 Highboy any day!!! I want the crank windows, and the triangular windows to vent without blowing your hair all over. That way you can enjoy the fresh air and still see. I don’t even need a radio. My last vehicle was a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer, I had it since 2011. I drove without the radio since 2017. And I finally had to say goodbye to her at only 183,000 miles due to repairs costing more than she was worth. I miss it. lol
Tesla is an expensive toy. No Tesla for me. Thank you for sharing.
A toy is something you keep in your 🧦 drawer.
She didn't say outright but she did give characteristics of what she had and also mentioned how much a used one has come down. She could've done that under warranty. Still within budget especially with the electric credit. And she's not paying for anymore gas. That's a nice chunk to support the purchase temporarily.
