But being called "Colgate" "Meth-mouth" cut me to the core. With friends, relatives, and acquaintances, I am able to suggest options and directions to get help with their teeth. That is like everything. I don't think many people understand the layers of pain and trauma that come with this so when you find a professional that does, it's like striking gold. Happy for you!
what area are you in-i've been through hell and gave up in 2020
Thanks for making such a great community here. I have had a bad life with my teeth since a young age also. Allergies, dry mouth, kool aid and pop in the house, teeth clenching anxiety, sports, open mouth breathing from the allergies, etc. Bad saliva or something too, even with full care and avoidance of sugars in my teens, the allergies got better etc, but they still kept degrading and falling apart. I am suffering from major depression disorder a lot, lately they broke again including a front tooth and I lost my benefits during covid and also had a really bad repair job that have kind of finished a lot of them off. Even the new dentist gives me a hard time and gave me mismatched color repair and said I will need 20,000 to fix my teeth properly, but I don't want to go though any more root canals and the toxic infections they cause, and the further damage caused when they break again and you end up chewing on one with your other good teeth. I have a makeshift smile now which required a post in a front tooth and the one beside it is mostly filling. I need to start an apprenticeship again soon once I get out of this depression and get fit enough to start, and do the interview before I lose my smile again along with my dental plan. I need to save up and will need to find a new place to live also in this new economy so things are a bit tough, but thanks for your community and strength. I already experienced quite a lot of discrimination and misunderstanding and am afraid of the judgement I receive behind my back and wonder why I am alone and depressed. I recently had to wait for 8 months to get my front tooth repaired due to the renewal of benefits and dental schedule and its somehow made my depression so much worse, I also wonder if the root canals I have are producing infection and creating mental health or general health issues as well and just might think about having them all removed or if I can work around the ones that are still good if possible to get what you have done. But if the rest degrade down the road I will probably end up with more complicated work than if I have them all removed I would assume? I need to find a dentist I can talk too as well and who cares instead of judges. I never had to deal with shamers, but I still felt shame. I came across one of your videos about 4 months ago and followed your journey. I gave me the confidence to go to see what I could do to give me back my self-esteem and self-respect. I knew my teeth needed to go (what ones I still had). It's been just over 2 weeks since I had my surgery and received my temporary implants. While I'm still trying to get used to them, they've already changed my life. Hearing you voice the same feeling and concerns that I felt, thank you for showing me that I was not alone.
I had butcher dentists as a child and now require general anesthesia for dental work. After spending over $100K on maintenance, implants, and restoration in my first 20 - 30 years, much of my work and one implant was ruined by a lousy dentist after my regular dentist retired. Went to the dental college, and a senior graduating student said "EWWW" and stabbed me in the lip with a pick. This is a graduation student? No wonder I'm terrified of dentists. Every time I try to get work done, it has become completely unaffordable. Every time I fix a problem, two more come up. Good bone, bad teeth. No one wants to deal with my existing 30-year-old implants. I just wanted to pull all of them and get dentures, but my last dentist said I was better off keeping my existing teeth. Yeah, better for his bank account, but I do believe there is a ring of truth in that since I also have a lot of bridgework.
Thank you for continuing to bring awareness to a topic that desperately needs more attention and compassion from professionals and non-professionals. I think it's a shame that insurance companies view some much needed dental work as cosmetic in this century. The people who are so quick to judge others are the ones who teach us how NOT to be. Good video... I am 8 months into a full upper and haven't really had the nerve to do anything beyond talk to people. I've been alone for 10 years, post divorce, and looking for next steps, but have a hell of a time dealing with the elephant in the room that most people don't even see!
Divorce isn't easy and it takes time to get back out there in the world. I think vulnerability and authenticity is like a radar that lets us know who to gravitate towards and who to steer clear from. Just be your authentic self and own what you've got. The ones who take issue with it can find the exit because you don't want them around anyways. The ones who accept you as you are, those are the people you want in your circle. Good luck!

Love seeing you back! Thank you so much for all you have done to help us that have issues with our teeth. Mine start at 25 when my top teeth were damaged in an on the job accident. I'm 62 now and have gone from crowns to a partial upper with implants and life is good. My advice to others is to stay diligent with your doctor to get a partial or full denture that fits your gums and mouth properly and naturally. A great dentist/doctor will work with you to achieve this. NO compromises on that and they will feel just like your normal teeth. I promise they will.

Hi I’m 57 and live in the uk. I love watching your videos, and want to thank you for them. As I said I live in the uk and my teeth and gums have been bad all my life. And I cost so much to go to the dentist and half the Time I couldn’t afford it. When I did go to the dentist I always thought they were judging me. They probably weren’t but I suffer from low self esteem. Anyway I
recently I managed to go to turkey to have them pulled (it’s so much cheaper) they were wonderful! No judgment… really kind. I have to go back in 4 months to have teeth fitted on the implants. I did drugs for years and grew up poor without much dental care. I am getting dentures in a month and celebrating 5 years clean in December. I cant wait to be done with the pain from tooth decay and am excited to see my new smile.
Good for you girl. Here is a trick I learned; at first the dentures are probably going to hurt your mouth and if they do it will be only a certain spot on one or the other or maybe both upper and lower. Instead of going back to the dentist to have them refitted, I got a Dremel tool and fixed them myself. The reason I didn't take them back is I already gave them basterds about 8 grand and didn't want to pay anymore, your case may be deferent. If it is viable let your dentist fix them!

Great to see you Kristi. I am now into my third week of adjusting to my perms.Shame and bullying are awful things to do. Being facially different from others can teach you a lot. Some are born that way and others can experience one in a matter seconds - car accident, fire and be thrown into another whole way of life. People should hold that thought in their head, and tongues in their mouth. It could be you some day. (Not personally but figuratively.

@kalinjax - your a HUGE reason why I finally had to courage to go get it done. I'm a ginger. Did not understand (until a friend told me) that it's a real deal, that redheads need a LOT more anesthetic than most. Now all the previous horrible experiences made sense.
I'm 4 days past e-day. E-day was rough, but recovery is more rough. My only regret is that I couldn't (and didn't) get it done *MUCH SOONER*.
Right now, mornings are the worst. My gums are so tender. I look forward to being on the other side of this part, and getting the relines all done, and the snap-ins going.

This is on the mental health aspect of having a lot of my teeth pulled that's been bothering me, aside from wanting to speak for myself with the dentists but no my dad keeps trying to make each decision. Least had I been able to speak for myself could've expressed pulling them all and tried to go with implants. Even when it comes to the types of jobs I'd prefer/enjoy...if needing to talk over zoom in a meeting let alone in public...overwhelming. I'll get the urge to want to try learning so I could get a job I'd enjoy but then the oh wait feeling kicks in...my teeth.

If you only knew the things people hide. People present themselves a certain way to others but you can bet that most of us have something we're dealing with in isolation, away from public scrutiny. I think most people know that. Some think they can fly under the radar and hide their own drama while shaming others for theirs. Don't let those people fool you. Own your life and your healing and let them say what they say and do what they do. You got this! Good luck to you!

Unfortunately not all people have empathy and are kind. I can remember every single person who made fun of my teeth. The shame , the hurt, and the sadness I felt. People don't realize how strong words are. Being cruel and hurtful towards another person should never happen. Life is hard and hurting other people with words is unnecessary. We need to do better and be better. Kindness is free. No one knows the circumstance why people have bad teeth. Don't judge. No one is perfect. Whether it's having bad teeth, being fat, or having acne. Whatever it is we can make a difference in a persons life by being kind and friendly. Thank you for always being so honest with your videos! i feel for you, and it will go well :D and it will get strange to get used to denture, i struggle still, but you low it how they lok and how real they look :D i recently got my partial denture after 2 years after my teeth got pulled except 6 up and 4 down, they thankfully was not damaged over years they how(crown) i think its called but they encompass the entire tooth,

It took me 20 years in pain, my entire top row was broke at the gum line, bottom row started breaking like chalk like my top row but I was scared to death to go to the dentist. I was having issues with medical too, and I happened across your videos back in December and that gave me the courage to get them pulled. I’m still having trouble with eating but I’m not giving up. I was shamed for how my teeth were for the longest time, but no one except me my family and my now husband knew the backstory. Domestic violence. Current husband arrested my now ex husband. He said only way to make me not smile anymore was to break them. He was right for twenty years I did nothing. If I hadn’t come across your videos I’d probably gone until I got sepsis from oral infections. You saved me.

Thanks for a great channel. I just found out about your channel today. Due to some current teeth issues, I am exploring getting dentures. And maybe beyond with the All on 4 variety. My grandfather had to have his teeth removed at a younger age, 33, and did well with his dentures all his life. Lived to 90. I am afraid that keeping my natural teeth may affect my health later on so I think maybe the best option is for removal plus replacing with dentures. I have only listened to a few of your videos so far, but they are excellent first hand knowledge. I noticed you do mostly your own videos. Have you ever thought of interviewing dentists about dentures, etc? You know so much about them. I would be especially interested in a dentist and/or doctor discussion of the health consequences of poor teeth, short and long term. Might help people decide whether to get dentures. Thank you for your videos. Thanks to my abusive and toxic parents I have always had shitty teeth. Thank you for creating space where we can safely and comfortably talk about this. I feel like especially in the US there is such pressure to have perfect teeth - a little crooked something and people look at you funny...
I am so glad I found your channel. I have been binging on your videos off and on for about 4 months now. I am 63 years old and have always had bad teeth and a poor diet as a child did not help. I finally am able to afford all on 4 zirconia implants and very happy. My teeth were not horrible but enough so that I started to minimize my smile at 50 and had a habit of putting my hand in front of my mouth when I laughed. I think that us baby boomers are starting to break down and getting to the age of dental breakdown. It's funny, but my older sister and brother do not have the same problems as I, definitely not such bad teeth. I think that my age group, people born in the late 50's and 60's had a much easier access to processed foods and sugar. It was never a big deal at all to drink sodas all day long. It wasn't until I got older that I seemed to see more awareness to the dangers of sugar on your teeth. I think that we will be seeing this more and more, products & companies that address tooth loss, etc., because there are more baby boomers needing tooth replacement and many who don't want to get dentures. Dentures are too shameful. Unfortunately, unless you have the money for implants, dentures seem to be the only choice. My prediction, someone will be coming up with something in between all on 4 and dentures and with that, the cost somewhere in between as well so it is within reach of the average American.But thank you for your channel and teaching compassion to the world!

I already knew I had to get something done when I found your channel. My mouth was (is) a frankenstein of deteriorating teeth, crowns, and bridges due to dry mouth from side affects of cancer treatment. So I knew I had to get everything replaced at some and your videos helped give me an idea of what to expect, so thanks for that!
I'm about a week out from having my bottom row taken out and 4 implants put in. I know i'm obviously still healing but I get the sensation of very localized pressure on each implant, especially the front two. That's probably due to the temp I have in and how the implants were put in for me but did you experience this too and at this point when you bite/put pressure does it feel spread out among your jaw or does it still feel local to the closest implant?

I have an upper denture and although they look natural (not ridiculously perfect or luminous) I cannot get over the feeling of having something similar to soap dish in my mouth !!! PS Your teeth look spot on Kalin. Nice natural colour (UK spelling) and a nice shape to them.
Between not caring about myself/putting others before myself, my sister brushing my teeth so hard as a little kid that it left me with gum pain whenever i brush, bad dentists doing crappy work and leaving me in pain, the high costs, etc. My teeth really aren't great at all, and the bullying and shaming just adds insult to injury.
When it comes to grown adults that bully and treat people badly, I've found that most of them are stuck in a Jr high mentality so there's no need to bother with them, because they'll always revert to that way of acting. And like you said, the way people treat you says more about them than it does about you.

I find it very embarrassing for someone to know I wear dentures. I do love my smile. Ive been wearing my temporary dentures for one year. I made my mind up I was going to wait until my gums stopped shrinking for the best fit possible. I get my permanent ones Monday. I'm so excited! My older sister just got her dentures and my younger sister has just started the process.

I really must go to the Dentist.
I have never been afraid before, but I have left it for over 3 years now.
I know I will get Dentures, top and bottom.
But I will have to go to the Hospital to get them removed. I had a blod clot, Sepsis and Pneumonia last November. I was put on a tablet for life to help me not get another one. Just before that I had Cancer and Chemotherapy really had a bad effect on my teeth.
I am not afraid of getting Dentures, I am so afraid of getting them out in Hospital.
Hopefully I will get the courage to go.

I’m currently waiting to get a second molar pulled so I can heal in time for 2 molar implants (I believe # 19 and #30), but I no longer have #18 & 31 either. My dentist and oral surgeon agreed that in order to eat all you really need are your 2 bi cuspids and only 1 of your larger molars, ( so 8 bi cuspids and 4 molars total), and I do agree with that.
However, my fear is that, I’ve been on a long road that started with crowns and has progressed to getting the crowned teeth pulled and needing implants.
I’m a former nurse and chronic pain patient currently on disability, and although I was told at 32 that I would likely die with all of my natural teeth, I believe Perscription medication may have most likely destroyed that plan. I’m terrified of needing dentures and wanting but not being able to afford implants but I think even if money wasn’t an issue, the process scares me to the point that it keeps me up some nights, and then don’t even get me started with the fear of implant rejection, or delayed healing bc I’m also autoimmune.
Do you have any advice? I’d love to hear from someone who has had their own fears and lived through it, but also may be able to share knowledge and ideas that I don’t have, but might help.
I can’t even get someone to try to make me a denture. I’m leaving my wife today because I can’t even go in public. She deserves someone who can enjoy life with her . I have no future. I feel so bad for her. I think your videos are really good for a lot of ppl . Ty for your content !
In the Netherlands dentures is free of cost . The basic health care insurance about 180 euros every month included this even implants on dentures. Even rebase reline . Also attraction teeth.
Hi mate I’m coming up to my full replacement all on 4 the only thing I’m worried about that is one day when I smile and someone you gave a nice smile us that someone there will point out that there fake 🎉
I had gastric bypass surgery back in 2011. I was never told that a possible side effect could be tooth decay. I used to have nice teeth, before surgery and even afterward for a while. Once my teeth started cracking and falling out one by one I had to end up having them all removed and dentures made. I have had 4 or 5 sets of dentures made and issues with each set. I have never been able to where the lowers and rarely wear the uppers. Luckily I work in a very small office for a family owned business and don't deal with the public. I am so ashamed of my smile and mouth that I never go out or do anything anymore. It had been at least 6 years now. Iam 48 and feel like my life is over, depressed over this is an understatement. I will wear the top denture only, if I HAVE to go out, but I cannot eat anything at all with them and they are so big that I use Cushion grip to help them fit. I do not make enough money to qualify for financing for implants (I have checked into it). I do not know where to go from here. When I think about future grandbabies, I cry because I won't go out in public. Where do I go from here? So over feeling this way and I want my life back.
I recently went thru this will EDay being 7/18. I personally love my temps. Will be getting a mix of perms/implants starting in January. I too had people commenting on my bad teeth and it would send me into a tailspin to despair. Now when I see these people and they comment I just smile and walk away. Some people can get so full of themselves and think they are “cute” by mean comments. Those type of people usually are hurting inside but they take it out on everyone else
Hi Kalin my name is Bobby I was wondering how long you had dentures before you got implants and how long it took before you got your final implant work completed? I heard for people who need extractions it can take months or longer before you are completely through with all the dental work, also how often do you need to go back for adjustments or cleanings? Implants are very expensive, but dentures are so bulky I really don't like them so thinking about getting implants, Thank you so much for your videos and taking time to answer peoples questions you are so kind p.s. I've had my dentures for 6 months now so most my swelling is gone
It always amazes me how some people just do not have empathy.
People also have other health issues that cause damaged teeth. It's not just poor hygiene or lack of affordability. My body just rejected my teeth and has been for years. My mom and sister have the same issues. You can brush and clean all you want... sometimes genetics have the final say. And people think it's ok to shame and poke fun but it's not. It can be quite hurtful
We are leaving in times where forgiveness, compassion and self-control do not have a space. People think they can say wherever come to their mind regardless of if is going hurt people's feelings.😢

I’ve watched you and tried my best to listen to everything you say. To help them through my challenging times.
I had dentist trauma at a young age where I was slapped by a dentist when I was 6 yrs old
However I’m past that but I did struggle to go to the dentist and currently I have 4 on 4 post and I have snap on dentures
The dentist tells me to get the permanent teeth I have to get another post so I’ll have 5x5
My question to you is.
1. One is the 3d scans shows that my posts are solid and do I really need 5x5 ?
2. What type of teeth would be the best to get?
3. I got my implants in Mexico and I’m happy with that and I’m wondering what your thoughts and type of teeth I should get.
I truly appreciate your wisdom and knowledge and the care you show to others and I also think it’s needed to have people like you that are basically none biase

It's so good to see you on here again. And I agree that the young Woman had forgotten where she came from and making fun of people who are also having the problems she had is inexcusable. I was born with a calcium deficiency, and had to have the top broken teeth removed and have top dentures when I was two years old because my teeth broke up like chalk. And all my life my teeth have broken easily. Now after a car wreck I broke the remaining teeth and now the last 6, have dissolved and the roots are broken off at the gum line.
And now when I do talk to people who have serious dental issues all I want to do is hug them. Because I feel all too well their pain, both physically and mentally they've endured. But I don't hug them or say anything to bring attention to their issue, like I wouldn't want anyone to do to me which would lead to more embarrassment and trauma.
I had perfect teeth and took care of my teeth and yet somehow my teeth started rotting when I was 19. Unfortunately I lost one of my front top teeth at age 20 and from there my teeth just kept rotting pretty quickly. I was never shallow but having a nice smile is important for anyone! Sadly, I had to live 15 years with missing teeth because I just could not afford to keep up with getting them fixed and did not qualify for insurance. It became a habit to use my hand to pretend cover up my mouth when I laughed or even talked. I ended up hiding away for years until I finally got my first set of dentures around age 35-36. My confidence went up so much and even with that you will always have these dentists and people around you jump to cutting you down because you don't have real teeth. I used to have dentists assume I did drugs because my teeth were bad which was far from the truth I never did drugs (I don't have anything against anyone that has bad teeth because of drugs) but for me that was not why, I never knew why. Just sad how some people are so shallow and right away will mention oh you have fake teeth as if you are less of a person. I have been the subject of that especially from other women. Oddly, I never had that from men that actually knew I had dentures. I just came across your channel and love your videos and I love your teeth! They look real! I wish I could afford to get dentures that look real but unfortunately my new set after having my first set 15 years ago was covered with state insurance so they are the cheapest set you can get...they are sufficient enough but uncomfortable. I had thoughts of making videos to encourage people that have dentures but still cannot get up the nerve to do it lol. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more of your videos!
I just got G4 implants. I know it’s all going to be OK once everything heals.
I’m getting my extractions next Saturday when my teeth are ready. I’m starting to get nervous now 😰 I know i have challenges ahead.
Yeah it's crazy how people be... back when I had absolutely perfect teeth (prior to crazy accidents and a quack/crook of a dentist), never in my life would I ever/did I ever talk to folks like that about anything in general. Might be because of personally growing up with tons of folks living within reality or the morals installed into my brain growing up but nope... never even had a thought to shit on others in such a manner.
It's also a shitty thing to say on my part but I hope karma is real in her case considering she once knew what it was like and STILL proceeded to put someone down in such a manner.

i have a very similar story as yours how you lost your teeth... i get my dentures in 1 week, i had my test fit and the dentist made the teeth too long, i wouldn't look out of place in a stable.. At this moment I'm at the regret stage and wondering if i will wear them out in public or at work. Me being a 39yr old man and this kind of scares me a little

In September i will get my new teeth .I had a full mouth 'extraction up and down in august. I'm currently working without teeth (facemask). People at work think i have corona. I explain them i have no teeth until september ( september is just adjustments) but i'm so happy all my rotten teeth are gone! .My insurance will pay 20 % back in novembre . I blocked some family members because of the gossip/ buliying me (yes my own familymembers laughed at me (as now i'm working without teeth ) i'm not hiding inside the house . Because of my work i could pay for everything .I take charge over myself.Everyone who laughed at me will cry in septembre (greetings from europe) by the way i took a screenshot from your youtube channel to show my dentist.I want the same shade and shape and color of your beautuful teeth.I payed my dentist cash so he has to make it good as yours ! Thank you for all the positive motivating dental videos . i remember bingewatching your dental videos when i had morphine right away after full mouth extractions (in the hospital) other patient watching movies and i was bingewatching your videos.i was obsessed (still now) you made all dental wearers strong.

I would never tooth or teeth shame anyone, I have Dentures now but I know the hurt and the shame I went through. I’ll never forget the Day my old Supervisor spoke about a Student who had Teeth that were falling out of his effing Mouth and how gross it was. I literally went Home that Night and cried myself to sleep never said a Word to my Husband. Prior to my Supervisor saying those painful Words about a Student pierced my Heart. She said herself that she never saw a Dentist until she married her Husband, I lost the little bit of respect I did have for her and a few Days later I quit. Just a quick message don’t forget where you once were before you got Dentures or Implants. I never will I suffered for years in silence and Shame.
