    This set cost $2200. I already had all of my teeth removed and received a temporary denture in 2011, which cost around $4150. This year, I won a contest and received All-on-4 dental implants (two bridges fixed to 4 implants on top, 4 on bottom). My prize winnings totaled out to around $54k. I have no natural teeth left.

    People need to stop judging people! Sometimes stuff happens and just because a young person needs dentures doesn’t mean they are a drug addict or with an eating disorder. Even if someone does or did suffer from these issues gives no one the right to judge someone. Thank you for sharing your story because it gives other young women the courage to know it’s ok to get dentures and it can be the best choice you could make if your facing teeth issues that cannot be fixed. God bless you and everyone going through the process of dentures.

      To be honest even meth wouldn't damage teeth to that point at 17yrs old, it's usually from not cleaning or looking after teeth at a young age to get to this point so young. I was a meth addict and had many fights but still have my teeth, I got clean 7yrs ago from meth and all I have is gum recession with some discolouration. Most of my issues that are minor happened after drug's. Most people's issues are from neglect if dental hygiene and or dentist whom drill out the core of teeth for fillings. I've lost two milers from my dentist drilling out most of my tooth, I was only 16 when he did that. Later a dentist explained that my previous dentist was a hack, so cheap isn't ever good

    I'm a dentist that was searching for an answer and happened to come across this video. If anyone that reads this is considering dentures, don't hesitate. The ridge that once held teeth can rapidly resorb without treatment and make it more difficult to wear a denture. The dentist did a great job on this patient.

It’s traumatic it’s worse when it’s through no fault of anything you’ve done. Now I’m concerned the money just isn’t there! It isn’t. No parents living paycheck to paycheck. Bad credit. The fear of having my teeth removed. Even the temporary dentures look amazing to me. Thank you. Right now I’m SO overwhelmed but I have to do something. I know this video is old but I'm 27 years old going on 28 and I was told at my last traumatizing dentist visit (about 3 years ago) that I should arrange to get dentures. I was so afraid of what that meant I haven't been back to the dentist office since. Now I'm constantly having gum issues and I feel my molars slowly chipping away. I only chew on one side of my mouth and I'm so paranoid about eating in front of ppl that I eat alone. I'm so ready for something. You're such a young beautiful woman and this video is inspiring. You see so many beautiful smiles on a regular basis that you feel discouraged to show your face at a dentist office. My last visit was so embarrassing the doc literally laughed at me for being in such a fucked up position. She barely serviced me but made sure she billed me later. I just want what you have and even though you don't have this anymore (because I've seen recent videos) I think this is the exact stepping stone I need. Thanks Hun!!!

      Don't wait! Seriously, the sooner you do it, the happier you will be. I had to get dentures at age 33. as my teeth were broken and rotted, and I suffered through all the toothaches and embarassment also. Check with your insurance provider, and find out what they pay and if the cost of the dentures exceed what the insurance pays, certain dental places, like Aspen Dental will finance the balance. Also, for the first week to 10 days after you get them, wear them all the time, even to bed, taking them out daily to clean them until they feel comfortable in your mouth. Good luck and start smiling! You will be sooo glad you did!

      If I were you I would Start having my teeth removed in sections every week, because after you have an extraction it will ache for 5 days and on the 6-7 days the holes will close up. Then go in and have 3-4 more teeth removed and do this until your done with your teeth. I only had 7 teeth left in my mouth when I went in for an extraction of a tooth and the dentist ask me if I would like dentures. I agreed because I knew my teeth were going bad and the only teeth that I had not had removed over the years were the front and lower teeth. So he removed the 2 on the bottom front that were hurting and scheduled me a week later to do the 3 on top in the front leaving me now with no teeth on top and all I have left is the four teeth on the bottom and I will go back in 1 week to have them done. In the mean time my dentures are being made and should be ready by the time I have the last four teeth pulled. This has allowed time for the holes on the upper to close and the first two on the bottom that I had pulled. And if the dentures are ready I can always leave the bottom denture off until the holes close on the bottom 4 teeth. The ache is really bad after multiple extractions and the last thing I want is a denture touching my extracted hole it even hurts to run your tongue along the injury. So just a little advice from someone in the middle of mouth reconstruction. I should be done with all the extractions next Monday. And I will never be in tooth nerve pain again. Thank God!Oh yeah, if you wait until your teeth breakoff then the dentist has to cut you open on your gum line and open up the gum to get to the rest of the remaining tooth (not fun) it is better to have the teeth removed so that he has something to grip on to-to pull the tooth out and so the tooth does not break off. The dentist is telling you ahead of time for your own good and waiting is a big painful mistake on the part the patient in the long run. I have had teeth were they had to slice all along the gum line and then had to have stitches and you don't want that if you can prevent it. Do yourself a favor and get the work done now!

      Go for it if that's really what you need/want. I'm 24 years old and I got all but 8 of my teeth pulled out 3 years ago when I was 21. I still kinda feel ashamed of having dentures at such a young age but in my case it really couldn't get any worst than how I was before... I dont feel the extreme shame and wanting to disappear off the face of the Earth everytime I have to talk to someone face to face anymore. It takes time to adjust and it's not the same as real teeth but for my situation, it was worth it. Also, everyone is different but I disagree with Ducky. I personally think it's best to get them pulled out all out once so you dont extend the pain and the healing process and be done with it a little faster. See what works best for you.

      @@jvb8035 during pregnancy your teeth are more at risk because of calcium deficiency and your body giving all the goodness to the growing baby. it's such a recognised problem that in England UK were I live we are given free dental care during pregnancy and for 12 months afterwards.
      it isn't common to get your teeth destroyed in pregnancy if they were perfect teeth before. but if you are someone who has had cavities and has fillings and hasn't got the best teeth anyway then you could end up with a few more problems or the problems you allready have getting worse quicker then they would. it's definitely an issue though I needed 3 fillings during my second pregnancy and my 2nd.molar crumbled away and broke during my most recent pregnancy 4th. there is a definite connection but I also have loads of friends with great teeth and pregnancy didn't affect their teeth at all. it's something to be aware of for sure.

    I agree about the face shape. It's something I definitely want to look into in the future. The dentures were made to compensate for the bone loss (by bulking them up) the implants, not so much. The second time I went back to Vegas, they fixed it the best they could, but my face still isn't quite as full as when I had my dentures. And you're right, we SHOULD be able to regrow teeth LOL! Hopefully science will make that possible in our lifetime, sounds like we're not too far from it =)

      According to ADA.org: It is a myth that calcium is lost from the mother’s teeth during pregnancy. The calcium your baby needs is provided by your diet, not by your teeth. So be sure to get enough calcium in your diet. You can do this by having at least three servings of dairy products per day. Or your obstetrician may recommend that you take calcium pills.

    Thank you so much kalinjax! I'm 42 yo in jax and about to go through something very similar to what you have documented. I am a smoker, drank mountain dews for several years, most of my top teeth are gone now, except for a couple of stalactite looking pieces hanging down. I used to have such pretty teeth, but destroyed them with soda. I'm so scared that I won't adjust to the dentures. I had braces when I was young, with head gear and retainer - hated them. My bottom teeth are not as bad as the top, but in pretty bad shape too. I don't know what I can do, but I made an appointment to go have an exam for possible dentures done at Carlson Dental Group on Riverside. They want to clean them but I'm afraid they will break off when they try. Your videos have given me enough courage to keep the appointment, though I'm terrified. You are an angel for showing what you have been through. Thank you just doesn't seem like enough, I really really appreciate your videos. Thank you so much! You look AMAZING!!!

    You are so incredible. Thank you so much for sharing all of these videos and doing this whole thing. I feel so alone thinking it's just me and my bad habits (sugar smoking and not brushing like I should) that caused basically all of my teeth to go bad. 4 years and everything in my mouth has seemed to fail. Lack of dental insurance left me feeling like I'd never be able to fix anything so I often just gave up and made everything worse. Now I'm at the point where I can start to get things done. Insurance and flexible spending account plus a generous monthly payment plan with my dentist. Four months ago I had my top four front teeth taken out and two implants put in with the plan of getting a bridge this month. During the wait my left canine broke in half. On my visit two weeks ago my dentist suggested I get four more taken out on top and six on the bottom. He offered to give me temporary snap in dentures until I can afford permanent bridges in January (more fsa and insurance money) This is what freaks me out tho. Four months has been difficult but living with removable partial dentures is just a scary thought. He's putting them in immediately also. My top ones should be fine since I have two solid implants already but six on two on the bottom immediately could fail so easily. Seeing your smile is such a beautiful thing tho. It made me tear up a bit seeing how open you were about your previous photos and being happy to share all these experiences. You are an inspiration to me and I feel a whole lot better about going into this crazy adventure than I was before. :-) So thanks again.

    Thank you so much for sharing your story. I finally feel like im not alone. My story is exactly the same as yours right down to the getting pregnant at age 19 and finding out around my 20th birthday. I always feel awful about myself. I just had half of my teeth pulled hoping to save the rest so they could put partials in, but just in a 6 month period since my dental surgery almost all the rest of my teeth are falling apart. I haven't slept in a week because I have extreme pain from a broken tooth and my sorry dentist will not pull just that tooth. She wants to do all this other stuff which is unnecessary since im having all of them removed anyways and just going ahead with full dentures. Im only 27 and I feel like im the only 27 year old out there that will have dentures. Im tired of being judged by everyone even the dentist. I feel like everyone looks at me like im a crackhead. I can never get good service because of people judging me. Thank you though, you just made me feel 10 times better about everything.

      heredatrebelyell88 ~ I'm going through the same thing. I'm probably about 5 years older than you, but I got the news that I needed dentures at 26. I'd just went through 2 really tough pregnancies, & my teeth just started breaking off during both. I'm getting ready to go through the process finally. I'm sick of the shame, & being treated like a meth head. I've never even seen meth, let alone done it, yet I've had a few docs that have pretty much called me that to my face. The pain & shame aren't worth it to me anymore. We can't worry about what others will think about us. I'm lucky to have a very supportive husband (who is damn good looking, if I say so myself). So if you're worried about your love life (and how it might be effected), don't worry! It is very sad that dental & medical professionals treat people, like us, like shit, but there are good ones out there. I finally found one, & I'm ready to be able to eat & smile again! Best wishes!

I can tell that showing your before picture was incredibly painful for you, but you are so beautiful and courageous! It's infuriating that dental care is so outrageously expensive here. We're one of the most prosperous countries in the world, yet so many people are suffering with bad teeth, me included. It's just wrong. Medical insurance needs cover dental care, because it's critical to good health. Somehow, as a society, we've got to find a way to make that happen. No one should have to live in that kind of pain. Thank you for being brave enough to share your journey with all of us.

      You can replace all of the teeth in your mouth with implant supported dentures for about the price of a Toyota Camry. Sadly many patients choose to buy a new car every five years instead of saving for their health. Nobody likes to pay for dentistry, and everyone wants someone else to give it to them, but the cost of dentistry is pretty cheap compared to other forms of medicine. It is still tragic when a child is born with dental problems, but dentistry supports millions of dollars of free charitable work for many of these cases. I think you would be surprised how little a dentist makes to deliver a $600 crown. The lab that makes it can take half. The assistant takes a wage. The front office takes a wage. The light bill has to be paid and the supply vendor wants their money. At the end of the day uncle Sam takes 30% before you see anything. You end up making $100, if you are lucky, for the couple appointments. This is all while trying to pay off one million in debt over 20 years and working for nothing. You devote your life to fixing other people's problems. People then tell you they hate you in the first sentence of meeting you, and they complain that you charge too much. One day you break out of debt and make a little money, and people think the system is broken because you have a nice car.

      @funkingitup1805 Před 7 lety +1

      +Lux Chevis You are wrong. You don't have "soft teeth", but you may be missing enamel. You might have amelogenesis imperfecta, you might have odntogenesis imperfecta, but their is no diagnosis for soft teeth. The minerals in your teeth are just as hard as the minerals in other people's dentin. It is a physical fact that the atoms don't differ. Dentin is softer than enamel on everyone, and when it is exposed it dissolves at a faster rate than enamel when an acid attack occurs. Again, there is no condition of "soft teeth". It is just how someone related your condition to you. Just type "soft teeth" into google and start reading.

    Kalinjax - Thank you so much for sharing your story about this. I have always had weak teeth and no matter how good i took care of my teeth i had issues. I was surprised that you shared so much about your story because you are so pretty and so young any many people would not tell the world things like this. But i feel much better about my situation knowing that there are other non elderly people having these kinds of issues.
    It is so embarrassing / shameful to have bad teeth especially when you have to work in an office environment like I do. Your story has given me hope and a feeling of not being alone. I have a wonderful wife who has never made me feel bad about my situation but it still hurts (as anyone who is reading this knows) when you have to face the world every day and you are always thinking that people are wondering why your teeth look so bad...
    It makes it worse when you end up going to a dentist that makes you feel bad because of the way your teeth are. I actually had a specialist accuse me of doing Meth because of the way my teeth are. I have never done Meth or any other "street drug" but i have been taking some medicine for the last 20 years that makes my mouth extremely dry. The dryness in my mouth made my issues 10 times worse. Anyway, thank you very much for posting your videos. I appreciate it. :)

    wow I never imagined I would find someone with the same dental issues as me! You actually made me cry lol. My mom and grandmother both had bad teeth and had to get dentures at a very young age. You are absolutely right, everyone always assumes that I have been on drugs and that is not the case! I also believe it's bad eating habits and bad genes. I use to drink a lot of sodas and eat a lot of sweets. But, I am lucky that I found the love of my life that doesn't care that I have bad teeth. Although he doesn't understand why even with him I am nervous to show my teeth. I was bullied badly growing up and that attributes to my low self esteem. I know I am pretty but it's just hard to feel pretty when your teeth are bad. You do everything to try and distract from it. I don't even where lipstick or lip gloss b/c I feel it draws attention to my teeth. I so badly want to try red lipstick and have that beautiful smile under it. It's even hard to get a good job because during the interview it's as if they are staring at my teeth. I am currently trying to find a way to pay for dental procedures. I am considered low-income and there's no one where I live that is willing to help. There is one place that will help but all they do is extractions. I would rather live with bad teeth than no teeth! I am a full-time student at the local community college and also work but my state did not expand Medicaid to low-income families and I don't make enough to receive help through Obama care. I am one of the "lucky" few that are stuck in the middle. You are so brave to show your before and after images. I don't know if I could ever do that. I wish you the best in life. God bless!

    I am in my first day of my first set of upper and lower dentures, and at the age of 34 I felt humiliated because i had great teeth. I got very very sick in the worst way x 3 or 4 diseases as well as bone disease. In about 9 months flat I went from perfect smile to like yours, even with teeth cleaning's every 45 days. So When I see videos like yours of pretty young ladies brave enough to feel great, and also look great with dentures, I figure I can get over it too. I have to admit i do like my new smile as well. It's just encouraging for people like myself who are very down and depressed at having full dentures at my age, demoralized at the sheer thought, to feel a hell of a lot better about it. Just wanted to say thanks for the video. I'm sure it helps more people like us than you know feel better bout the future prospect of getting them, to those like myself having just gotten them. So good on ya! Cheers for the vid. IC.

    Wow. That's all I can say, is: wow.
    Your teeth pre-extractions were significantly worse than mine ... and I thought _I_ had it bad! O_O Stioll, to see how much improved - no, strike that, how GORGEOUS your smile is now? Is very uplifting to me ... because just three days ago, I finally had all of my remaining teeth extracted - all twenty of them, plus bone grafts in each socket , and BOY am I still sore!! - and will be getting my first set of dentures in about three weeks or so (the fitting will be on October 1st). So, seeing what a difference your dentures made for you ... well, my hopes for _my_ smile-to-be have gone way up from where they already were.
    :)
    And, THANK YOU for sharing your experiences with the process; I really feel much calmer, more relaxed, and have a more realistic (yet also more hopeful) expectation of the outcome at each step of the way, having seen things from the "patient's eye view", if you will.

    • @GMPax
      @GMPax Před 2 lety +2

      @@Jetsi79 I've love to get implant-supported dentures.
      Money, however, is an issue there. At $2,000 to $,3000 per implant, and anywhere from 8 to 10 implants needed, we're talking about a LOT of money, before even the cost of a new set of dentures to go with them.
      And neither Medicare nor Medicaid will cover even a single implant.
      :shrug:
      I've simply resigend myself to being toothless, unless I win the lottery (actually, there's drawing tonight - wish me luck!! :) ).

      Pamela Adams That's horrible advice to give someone, Pamela. You don't know what kind of pain Lisa is already in, nor what other unpleasantness her natural teeth give her. With dentures, she can be pain-free, and have a beautiful smile. Why would anyone ever say that was a bad thing?

    • @pamelaadams3528
      @pamelaadams3528 Před 9 lety

      First of all she mentions nothing about being in pain!
      You misread her response , talking about she's in pain.
      She mentioned she's petrified that her natural teeth have to be gone she feels this way for a good reason.
      These are the teeth that God gave her they should not be removed!
      These dentist keep their patients ill informed about the fact that her teeth is what's keeping her face structure together!
      She should visit a holistic doctor to learn what can be done to savage her God given gift not lose her teeth to an evil human
      who has no right deconstructing God's work.

    • @GMPax
      @GMPax Před 9 lety +1

      Pamela, NOONE rational and sane gets dentures "just because".
      As it so happens, I know her fear, because I _felt_ it myself: I just went through the very process she was so frightened of - getting all the remaining teeth in my mouth extracted, twenty of them in one procedure. And I did it because, yes: PAIN. Most recently, an abscess beneath a broken tooth.
      Nor is this the only time I've had horrible pain. I've lost twelve teeth before that abcess, and each time, there was a very great deal of pain involved.
      But when _I_ get _my_ dentures - I'll be fitted for my interim dentures in just eleven days - when that happens? No more broken teeth. Never an abcess again. No more needles, and drills, and abject quivering terror of the dentist's office.
      No kind and loving God could possibly condemn the men and women who help me achieve that pain- and fear-free state.
      [[ These are the teeth that God gave
      [[ her they should not be removed!
      First: not everyone believes God exists.
      Second: if God wanted her to keep her teeth forever, then perhaps God - putatively all-powerful and all-knowing - should have made her teeth sufficiently indestructible, that she would never need to even _consider_ extractions and dentures?
      [[ She should visit a holistic doctor to
      [[ learn what can be done to savage (sic)
      [[ her God given gift [...]
      And if the answer is "nothing" ...? Because in many cases, that's exactly what the situation is: there is _nothing_ that can be done to salvage a tooth.
      And in some cases, doing nothing at all can be LIFE THREATENING, not to mention excruciatingly painful. For example, I had an abscess under a broken tooth just a few weeks ago. Worst pain I've ever experienced - worse than being bit by a large dog as a toddler. Worst that breaking my foot in seven places at eight years old.
      [[ [...] not lose her teeth to an evil human [...]
      To heal, to relieve pain, to ease suffering - these are not the acts of an evil person.
      However, to chastise someone who does these things ...? Much closer to evil. Much.

      +Tigi Curtis-Wood Thank you! It was a little challenging in the beginning. I did have issues with slurred speech. The only thing I can say is to make sure you get plenty of practice in. Take your time, talk slowly until you can build your way back up to normal speed. Read aloud and focus on the areas you are having the most trouble with. The best way to learn anything is through consistent practice and repetition. Good luck to you!

    Thank you for doing this. I have been getting my teeth extracted for over the past 4 years, it took me years to find a specialist dentist to deal with my phobia and bad teeth. I am still in the process of getting yet another set of dentures now as I have to have 3 more taken from the bottom next month. It will be my first experience of lower dentures (really not looking forward to it) I have always felt so ashamed of having bad teeth and now dentures and feel people judge me because of it.
    This is the first time I have realised that it is really not that bad. I never believe people when they say they do not know my teeth are false and I waste so much energy worrying about it, but now after listening to you I don't care so much. Thank you again. You have really helped.

    This is freaky, this is my story to a T! both sides of my family has bad teeth, my there were bad since I was a kid..when I got pregnant my teeth got 100× worse and it got to the point that my front teeth were broken and couldn't be saved. They would just crumble no matter what I ate plus I didn't have any back teeth to chew on..they were constantly getting abseced and so on and so..I'am 29 and I just got my dentures today and so far I'm in a lot of pain as I expected but I feel like a can swallow very well. I'm not really sure if it's normal until I get used to them In my moth, or if they are just to big and I need them to fix that? as of right now when I try to swallow any kind of food it feels really weird and hard to do....but Idk I hope it will be better soon tho! crazy our story's we so much alike tho, I thought I was the only one going through this that was in there 20s but now I feel a lot better Thank you so much for telling your story, and listening to mine 😊😚💙

I've been watching your videos for months for encouragement to go through with it! You are so much better than me. I've been embarrassed by the whole thing. Just a few very close people even knew what I was having done. If people ask me what I had done I tell them they are dentures but I don't broadcast it. I also don't want anyone to see me with out them. I'm very happy with the look. I can smile again without covering my mouth!!! Eating is very challenging though. I think I've lost 10 pounds!
