We used to own and run a fleet of Ford Ranger 3.2's towing 3 tons daily, we recently swapped all our vehicles out for new ones and after test driving and test towing them all we actually went with the SsangYong Musso Rhino.
Night and day better at towing than everything else, the difference between the Musso and the latest Ranger was quite a shock really, even against the V6 amarok and Hilux. The other bonus to our commercial needs was that unlike every other brand that could tow 3.5 tonnes, the Musso can do that while carrying 1.2 tonnes in the bed of the vehicle, the 2.2 diesel is the quietest I've ever experienced in a pickup and the 6 speed Auto is so well geared coupled with a great torque converter it pulls across all gears well.
