I recently bought a 2011 Ford F150 with the 5.0L V8 4X4 in February of this year. It only had 65K miles on it when I bought it and now it has 66K miles on it. Being a mechanic myself, I bought it because I know that you're absolutely right. It's the best, most dependable truck on the road. Everything works perfectly on it and it rides like a dream. My wife loves riding in it (she owns a 2018 Ford Escape that i bought for her and she loves it). I have to say I love your content sir. Being a Houstonian myself, I can really appreciate taking the family down to Galveston once in a while myself. Keep up the good work sir. As a used auto rebuilder and dealer for the past 23 years , my # 1 pick is Toyota Tundra . We rebuilt and sold hundreds of trucks and there is nothing that comes close to the Tundra in durability . Very solid and almost trouble free truck and a pease of mind. Never had a Customer in the past 15 years with any mechanical issues with a Tundra . The worst truck is Titan, almost every truck had multiple issues . The second best truck is Tacoma . Only one truck that had transmission problem out of over 120 sold . # 3 is the Silverado, and # 4 is RAM and F150 5.4L. These trucks are very hot sellers but they require you to leave your truck at the mechanic shop for long time to fix problems that don’t happen in Toyota trucks.

The only thing that is a problem on the truck is the back bumper - it will completely rust out every few years. Had a new one put on in January 2018, as it stands now, I think I may have another 1 1/2 years left before I will have to get a new one again. The rest of the truck is doing fine. Thankfully.

But for me, I prefer Tacoma's between 95 and 04. I test drove a newer one a few years back and really hated the interior - made me want to rip it out and start from scratch: new seats, instrument cluster, stereo, and inset for the console screen [to help viewability in the daytime], the glove box... everything from cupholders to carpet to door panels - leave nothing but the paint and start from scratch. I have a [early production] Tacoma, and am still kicking it around.

I know this video has been around awhile but it still holds true. Great video and great advice as always. Sometimes those foreign trucks outshine our U.S. models especially in smaller trucks because they are made for the international market and sometimes U.S. companies cut corners on what they produce for trucks sold only here. I had a Datsun years ago that is currently Nissan and it was made well. That was when all the mini trucks were sub contracted out of country before they were made here and then the U.S companies would have them produce trucks that were not as good as the trucks they made themselves for the international market. Examples being Chevy Luv and the Ford Courier. Both inferior to the trucks made in those foreign plants that sold internationally.

My 2007 Tacoma is proof of how durable they are. It drove a couple thousand miles with low gear oil in the rear diff. A few hundred miles with a dying or dead alternator on just a new battery. It even drove with a shot wheel bearing and broken strut. I also hooked the wrong battery up on opposite posts and it only blew the 140 main fuse. Even when parts were broken, it got me where I needed to be. By the way, it's an offroad only rig these days and runs maybe about a month every year. It doesn't quit and impresses my neighbors when it fires up without hesitation.

Ford Ranger...had head gasket issues with both my 1994 and 2000. leaf spring shackles in the back busted loose on both trucks and that was not an inexpensive fix. The rear section of the frame then broke after having the leaf spring shackles repaired...busted frame ended it for the 2000. Had a rebuilt Jasper Engine put in the 2000 after a valve went bad and the Jasper engine had a valve go bad also, fortunately was still under warranty. Lot of nagging little issue with the 2000. Bottom line, not impressed with reliability of either of my Rangers.

First let me say I love Scotty's videos, and really respect his views on cars. That having been said, I almost agree with this list. I think 1 & 2 should be switched. The reliability of Toyota Tundra outweighs Fords ability to be repaired easily. Also, if the day should ever come that you'd want to sell your Tundra(God knows why!!!) Tundra has always had a higher resale value. I think Tundra should have been the #1 choice. The F-150 is a great 1-3 year ownership, But Tundra is a lifetime truck!
