      I sometimes have similar issues with my dad’s 2016 F350 that he has had for a few years. It’s had to go in for repair several times but only one was for anything engine related (emmisions sensor). The other times were for electrical issues (headlights had some bad wiring), AC issues (needed a recharge), or minor body work (fuel neck, tailgate trim, tires, etc). Otherwise it actually runs better than most of my dad’s trucks outside of his 2015 Tundra and his 87 Bronco (all of the other trucks are almost 30 years older than the 2016 F350 or the 2015 Tundra and all have issues even if they do run). Ironically almost all of my dad’s trucks are Fords. He has two other F350’s that are from 1990 and 1986 and an F450 from 1988 and all three have issues

      Yeah, I have a 5.2 from 2001, it’s been a solid for me. Though I inherited it a few years ago, it apparently had the computer go out and replaced and the same for the radiator. But aside from those things, it’s running decently. I’m planning to overhaul it a big for slightly more power. But mainly just use it for getting around with the occasional trailer tow.

    Surprised the Titan is below the Tundra. They're pretty similar trucks, but a cousin of mine seems to always be dealing with mechanical issues with his Tundra where I on the other hand have had basically zero issues with my 04 Titan. Scotty was damn right about them having a solid engine and trans. Those trucks are tough as hell. Only problem I had to deal with is cracked manifolds, but what Titan doesn't eventually deal with that issue? Can literally install a set of headers yourself, problem solved. Also, I hate to be that guy, but I definitely feel having dodge and chevy especially at the bottom of the list, was the right call. A friend of mine owns a 1500 Silverado and that thing is one problem after the other. They fall apart easily and the thing gets stuck everywhere it goes seems like. Had to pull him out several times with my Ranger already. I have to mention though that the newer model dodge and Chevrolet pickups look pretty badass in appearance. So I have to give them credit for that.

  • @sidepasser
    @sidepasser Před 2 lety +8

    I love my Chevy HD 2500 4 door with tow package - it's a 2003 and I had a couple of issue that were pretty inexpensive to fix. I haul a GN trailer with weekender package and up to two horses and it has 159,000 miles. I don't expect good gas mileage (wish I had bought a diesel but there were no diesel mechanics in my town at the time)..so it is what it is. I bought mine on the fleet side at Chevy..plain Jane with just air, power steering and power brakes. No carpet but it does have a radio, lol. It's a true long bed, 8 ft. Wouldn't trade it for the world and when the engine goes, I'll drop another in it and keep hauling. It still looks like new :)

    I got a 2004 Dodge Dakota SXT. It seems pretty good to me. Family that had it owns and sells lots of Dakotas and has their own service shop where they fix up and maintain cars. They even have a 2002 Dakota RT they bought new in 2002 and have only put 1k miles on in 20 years! Hopefully it goes well. It has a minor exhaust leak and some lights that need fixing but that's not a huge deal. If anything goes wrong I plan on putting the V8 in it. I'm a Ford guy but the hemi is the best gas truck engine made. Even Scotty agreed a few months ago. Now he's complaining about gas mileage?
      The newer ones get 15-20mpg. Great for a full sized truck with that much power. Toyota will never have those kind of numbers. Meanwhile Ford is adding turbos or variable cam timing, which is great until 150,000 miles. Then then engines cost a fortune to fix if something goes wrong.
      Time will tell on the 5.0, but for now I'll take an f150 with a hemi.

I left a reply on another comment, I have a 2010 Dodge Ram with 321k miles on it and the only ticking I’ve ever heard was at 110k when I had to replace my manifolds. People can’t take care of their damn trucks and don’t change the oil. I use standard Mobil 1 5w20 and change every 5000 miles and have had none of these issues. I’d be so pissed off if I was an auto manufacturer, because most criticism of engines is due to poor maintenance.
