Recorded a really goood video with Strategic about this exact topic along with his KC Top 8 that had audio issues. Hobby Japan needs to get over the lack of bans and start using them. I enjoy the games eternal format immensely as it is nice cards I purchased still have value but the time has come to move past the angst against them. Game grows less fun by the set. I would be completely ok with and prefer that 4CP Wol, 7CP Wol, Luso are all gone. I think that is the bear minimum too. You brought this up but Shinyru's existence to me is full acknowledgement of the "the game is really fast" where every deck can access a cost effective clear if they need it.
Less fun is harsher than I’d put it but I do think the format doesn’t feel like it’s in the best place it could be. I’d go a lot deeper than that - hitting those just makes Knights worse to play against.
@@GhoulSRL I think there are 8-10 cards that are worthy, I just think those 2 are problematic in the moment mostly because they promote the convergence of decklists. I don't like the feeling of "having" to play a card to be competitive and it is getting harder and harder to do.
4WoL is absolutely turning into a design mistake on multiple levels. Its a bit unfortunate- I really liked the card and his effect on the game in Opus 19 on allowing slower decks to survive aggression but he’s enabling things that were almost certainly unintended on top of making it harder and harder to justify anything other than a mono color deck, Ice/Lightning or 4 color good stuff.
The other problem is that I’m not sure Balthier would fix Mono-Winds aggression issues. Sure, Balthier + Fran or Ritz is a 9k ping to a single target but it’s extremely interruptible since Balthier loses to almost every removal spell on the stack and, most critically, does not live through Amaterasu on his own entry. And Wind doesn’t even have a 3 CP Anthem backup to attempt to fix that, not that it’d be worth doing anyway. It’s a really, really rough state and it reminds me of Ice after the wave of Turbo discard bans where they sorta tried things but ignored the problems without finding a new direction to push Ice forward.
This set literally feels like a whole element was not printed. Exactly 0 wind cards make the cut in anything. Even if they read well there is 0 reason not to be doing Luso Lulu Chocobo. At least 2 of these need to go.
The only thing I will disagree with… this is the first set that Wind felt like a real element in limited. Like, genuinely, Wind is probably top 3 strongest limited elements this set (Lightning is a clear 1, Ice and Wind are tied for 2). That said, the only card that meets the bar for playable in constructed is Bartz which might as well be a Light card.
I'm kind of starting to love the LB deck. I think it will turn like a sideboard in a game that's best of one, most of the times, by allowing you to tech against weak matchups. Yuri feels like it was meant to fix the fact that many decks didn't have answers against the monsters and particularly mono wind which alongside mono water were the only decks worthwhile playing monsters. (Assuming functionning as a tech to fetch earth/wind chelinka) But why put the solution to the lack of interaction with monsters in one of those two elements that plays them effectively?!? Yuri would have been better being an other card entirely in a color that doesn't have clean solutions. Or they could have make a Chelinka that is playable on its own to complement the damn thing xD.
I honestly think it should have been able to play any Chelinka. I don’t think any of them would have been problematic except for maybe the backup but heck, slap the text forward on there and we now maybe can revisit the old Legend which is still a cool card imo.
100% agreeing with you. With Luso being in the legal list, Wind will never get “unfair” cards.

i think they tried with op 21 balthier and vaan, but same reasoning, why play these when you can play lusso

I was so miserable when I pulled 5-6 Yuri LB. Felt so awful. I’ve literally used every other LB to this point.
I think it’s the only LB I’ve pulled a natural foil playset of haha. Just my luck. :D
I always have to put the volume at 100% when watching your videos I think the volume could be higher :o
Yeah I’m getting louder but still a bit quiet I think. I’ll keep playing with it and see if I can’t find the happy medium.
