    Steve! I took your list to locals today and I went 3-0. Games go really fast and I only threw down one backup in one game. Even if you don't draw into Don and turbo discard, Al-Cid into Ruff or Seph are powerful first turn plays. And Rug just adds icing to the cake. 4 color WoL purely for discard came in clutch because it was to get Gilgamesh's haste and dull freeze online. This deck is crazy

    I watched that match and I was like, "Why don't you use the AMATERASU!?". Haha. I think you are right: don't amaterasu the Al-Cid, but if he Ama'd the Squall he would have been in a good place.

    Annoyingly I looked at corneo for this deck style and without rug he is basically a dead card, feels like a massive trap to even play it, it will likely die to a LB cloud or viktora. Do you not bring irvine as a counter measure for the mirror? I'm not sure how how i feel about rug now that we have LB forwards that we always have access to, he was a borderline acceptable card for me because of the unfair things he enables, mostly for ice like rufus where games just become non-games very quickly, but now we have weird applications for the Don as well as guaranteed 2 damage off 1 rug in hand.

    Where do I find meta information about decks for this game?

    • @YunaYoungTeam
      @YunaYoungTeam  Před 2 měsíci

      FFDecks is probably the single best site for the game. They do a meta tracker for decks and individual cards, and people can register local tournaments.
      But I'd like to think my CZcams channel is up there insofar as chronicling good decks. 😏👌

    I think this video is missing section about how easy it is to contain Don, whether we like it or not - centerpiece of the deck. Yes, you can search it, but 2CP-5K is magic border, when you can blast it almost for free. With LB mechanics, he is truly unstopable only when he is paired with Skyserpent and that is really specific starting hand. I am not saying it will not happen, but homeless Brynhildr or Odin can derail this deck in funny way. This is something that FF13 deck was rather immune to, as Lightning was able to jump back number of times. This deck does not have the ability to take Don back from DZ, and after 2 searches Don is out and our hand is seriously damaged for a rush deck.
    I also am wondering if this Squall is good call here, there aren't many good targets for him - he seems like a "top-decking" kind of card.

      For sure. I had a LOT of recording to do that night, and didn't have time to do 40 minutes on each, but usually focussing on what to do in the bad matchups is something I like to explain.
      Against anything with Fire, definitely don't prioritise Don until/unless you know the decklist. Very powerful card in Bo1 Swiss, but loses the explosiveness against a seasoned opponent in public decklist Bo3.
      Those games, you'll lean a lot more on Rufus, Squall, Sephiroth, and Al-Cid.

      @@YunaYoungTeamI am still waiting for my cards to arrive in order to heavily test FF8, thus it is dry theory yet, but I do not see much potential for that Squall in that setup. I am thinking about pairing him with Dark Ultimecia ( she is in his range). In such setup if you Selphie into Squall that will bring Ultimecia then your opponent will have trouble keeping up with you unless he get rid of her. We are loosing the speed of the deck bit are gaining interference in opponent's playstyle.

    I have a feeling that Don Corneo will be banned from constructed play, if it doesn't get an errata.

      Rug is the reason these decks exist. I would be mad if they hit Don, he was my favorite card circa opus 16-17.

    • @HumanDevilTV
      @HumanDevilTV Před 2 měsíci

      @@googleruinedyoutube4707 Rug is too generic to be hit, though. Too many decks use him. While it may be a reason to ban him actually, he just enables Don to be be played faster. In that regard, even future mill strategies can get out of hand, pretty quickly. By logic, Don is the more obvious hit to be made.

    Damn Rufus is a 20€ card right now. Good I got my playset very early...

    • @SuperGewal
      @SuperGewal Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes but right now the price is crazy, last year I did buy 2x for like 7€ did manage to trade with my friend for the last one. Lastly... If the reprint commes way to late of its prime meta time then its a little meh 😅

    Don is fine... Rug shouldn't exist.

    • @YunaYoungTeam
      @YunaYoungTeam  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Don is fine, but not thematically. Why the hell should he be able to gain control of...himself?
      It's an esoteric templating that only exists to enable self mill in an absurd and unthematic way.
