    *conversation with my best friend/testing partner* Oh man, I’ve got this Fens list, but I’m struggling on the Excenmille list, I can’t decide on the 50. Those are my two favourite cards from the set. But that Vaan, you know I’m a sucker for the pencil-style art. Maybe a Sky Pirates Crystal list. Hmm. *A few moments later* Steve D of the YYT. Hold my beer. I don’t think I’ve sleeved 50 cards faster in my life. Thanks for the video! ❤

      It's definitely difficult, but you can cut most of the wind cards (except maybe Atomos) for a lightning package of Mira, Moth Slasher, and the Odin/Lightning package to at least jam in a few defensive EX bursts if you're seeing a lot of the turbo decks

    I can't tell you how I had a wild ride for this video. As a redmage fan, I was surprised by witch of then fens. For the colors, you had the same idea I did last night. I did think there was an ice deck somewhere with astos 21 being a better khury 17 but ended up focusing on wind because of tidus. I guess I focused too much on tidus because I was running a return package with stuff like strago 15. Overall completely surprised and loving the idea. Can't wait to build it!

    Very interesting list! I'm still a lot bigger on mono-lightning for my scions - there's a weird thing in Scions where all of the best ones (except exactly Thancred) really only care about forward scions and most of the playable scion backups are in Water. So since the best forwards don't match the color of the backups... I'm just playing other stuff. Did you consider Earth/Wind y'shtola as the extra Y'shtolas at all? I was shocked when I realized that having access to Noctis and Cid Highwind and even Eiko in one deck ended up being extremely relevant, more so than the text on Y'shtola. Not that she's a bad card but she's strictly worse than the fire/lightning one, it's just the LB access that matters. The Noctis in particular made a huge difference for the deck. Great stuff as always.

      I think King is a dreadful card, genuinely Opus 9 Rare tier. But on the bright side, Queen is pretty great. Some elements in common with Sterne Leonis, if you squint hard enough. Might be something there.

  • @micha-elvanluijtelaar3331

    Finally! I had the exact same feeling on this Flan! Great to see my feeling acknowledged. Have been playing Flans since Opus 4! So will be getting back to this deck again. One thing on the CP economy: Rather I would say that using Edward in a turn is a bit less then losing 1cp, more like half a cp and the value gain is more like 2,5cp, as you remove a card as well

    I also think Zenos looks really powerful, but may be better utilized in a standard ice/Lightning midrange list with kadaj and Irvine. I think a high ex burst I/L that boarders the aggro/midrange line is really helped by Zenos.

  • @whitleylevi
    @whitleylevi Před 2 dny

    I enjoy the DTTs, thanks. I have some thoughts on mono ice without trying to sound argumentative, and as a player who used to love to play 'Flantotto'. I worry that all the flans will lead to 'flan-flooding' your turn draws when you don't want to see a flan. And while the new flan is a cool ability in the mid game when you have 6 or so flans in the BZ, it doesn't seem like it will help with early aggro that is so prevelant these days. Shantotto also just seems inefficient when you boardwipe for 7, but your opponent builds 3 forwards the next turn for cheaper (plus the especially relevant drawback of basically scooping to Chaos/ark when mono is a way to 'tech' against a top tier deck). I feel shinryu is still the best boardwipe for mono Ice, and the new Luso can work in tandem with the ramp plan, but also allows madeen to not be a dead draw anymore, covering ice's weakness to removal. I also think that Cait sith is an underrated legend though. It isn't hard with Luso and Emina now to get to 5 backups on turn 3. Cait sith is live during the early game against setup decks where it is most effective. Wind, 4 color, etc trying to have a clean backup curve on their turn 3 with 3 dull backups and 2 cards in hand feels like a great Cait sith play. Then the plan is to play good mid range ice cards like Rufus, Weiss, Y'shtola, etc before top decking a kurasame, Shiva, Anima, or even Ultimecia for a closer. I think mono Ice ramp doesn't need wholesale card slot changes, but Luso and Cait sith are actually quite positive for it's playstyle.

    Hi Steve, thank you for the list. Couple questions that I have for fire Vanille: - Am I missing anything regarding 2 specials hitting for 12k, in my head it sounds like it should be 8k? - Also without Serah, would wiping Knights with Curilla out be feasible since the replacement effects' order would be chosen by the controller of forwards receiving the damage right?

    • @YunaYoungTeam
      @YunaYoungTeam Před 4 dny

      Vanille's Special resolving doubles damage dealt for the rest of the turn. The first copy to resolve deals "2k doubled", ie 4k, and the second copy to resolve still has the Double modifier from the first Special in place. 2k "doubled doubled" means the second copy deals 8k. Wiping Knights fully without Serah is pretty difficult, you can kill the Curilla and anything below 9k, but Ramza will typically survive.

Don't know if you'd be aware (yet) but Norschtalen and Stiltzkin from FFCC form the core of one of the all-time best decks. Hard to play, but worth mastering. I'll see if there's anything more flavourful I can build! Got a favourite character? :)

  • @ErebosPlayer
    @ErebosPlayer Před 4 dny

    One more thing ive been experimenting with more is more copies of exoray. Makes shan and lark more powerful but mostly because just like the opener pre first mulligan, exoray allows you (always go 2nd in this deck if possible, but emet hyth and pray going 1st can work) but exoray playing it effectively stores 2 cards for next turn. The reason this is imporant is if you draw a haste outlet or emet etc you can crack exoray have 8 in hand and in one go you can go relm (if you see her too using goblin and coeurl) or a haste outlet in hand you can cast (lark reviving haste work too), together with hyth and emet and combo t2 whilst minimising risk to hand size and forward removal. Not to mention 2 cards off the loop early is nice. This means even with casting relm you can still use goblin to give cp to cast hyth then use coeurl to combo off t2 if you had to. Of course you can just save cracking it until your ready. But options for t2 crack if necessary is nice off exoray and emet and haste outlet

    • @YunaYoungTeam
      @YunaYoungTeam Před 4 dny

    • @YunaYoungTeam
      @YunaYoungTeam Před 4 dny

      Thanks so much for the feedback! My testing group plays insanely fast testing games when a new Opus drops. As such, there's lots of behaviours that don't make for good viewing. Rewinds, early concedes when something looks like a foregone conclusion, an "extra mulligan" if something super statistically unlikely happens, and most of all, we play super fast and don't talk much. These are the worst kinds of games for engagement and, like, sentimentality of watching back! But I'll try and get a live stream of some games on the go soon, of some works in progress. Very good to get feedback like this, thanks a lot!!

Knights still seems like the correct decision if attempting to cheese a win in a 2 deck format. found even just ixion being able to buckle this deck. Understanding all decks in a meta is more important than playing a deck with a high win rate imo. @@YunaYoungTeam Cid is not a card you want to have early on board (unless you are in desperate need of that 4CP Forward removal and then it is Odin + 9K forward). On Damage 3 he is absolute beast ant this is the moment when we should consider him. You could easily exchange 1 Noel and Lightning for 2 copies. He may not win games alone, but can save games singlehandedly. His damage 5 is a myth, someone knows, a someone, who triggered it. PS: I see your aversion towards Cid R., as you have literally one card recycling Forwards from BZ. I, cannot build a deck without that mechanic. I understand that BZ-hate has been hot for couple of last opuses, but despite that BZ is still one of the safest places to keep the card for later part of the game.

      Frankly I wouldn't play FF13 as an aggro deck any more if you're playing to win, the introduction of LB Cloud and Viktora absolutely *destroyed* that deck. I'd be inclined to take the deck a lot slower and lean into O16 Reeve/Drace/Edward as a way to put Fire Wind Zidane in play, and use him to draw the heat away from your FF13 stuff. But, yeah, other decks do it better. There's at least 5 aggressive decks I think are better this set.

    So coming into a major tournament and you know this deck is everywhere What kind of deck counters this kind of madness? As you rightly said, a t1 totto doesn't really help either. Do we start sleeving 4cp L exdeath or something?

      I think Earth *is* the way to go; you at least have some agency over things like Chaos/Fujin/etc with Mist Dragon. But the deck does feel like a bit of a "screw you if you're not playing Earth". Jury's still out on that one. I'll probably address it in a stream some time when I've gotten to playtest the deck a lot more.

      the 4 color good stuff decks are dropping ama to 2 and brought mist to 3. it's that simple of an answer. Mist dragon is actually an outright kill against this deck. You even willingly take damage to get more EX chances, but mist away the raijin/fujin when he tries to stack their triggers. From there you cant lose. -Also if youre worried, toss in 3 EX Tifa6. She eats the entire deck for breakfast. If you draw one, get her to slap chaos. -If youre on 4c good stuff, gear towards more mist/levi6/unei. always pitch uneis when misting. levi6 ends the game when you double trigger grab unei and ship chaos. -Or Man in Black on the back of odin5 and bahamut5, the discounted ones at 5 damage. You checkmate easily at 5. It's not even a game if you also stack up mist dragons with MiB. -Or if you want smol brain answers, just jam wind cecil5 to cheat wol4. save either 1 ama or 1 mist dragon. watch them struggle til the end of days. they cant go over that wall. wol. get it? eh eh heh.. -and finally..forget all that, just turn 1 edgar into wind/fire zidane. make them regret their life decisions for playing combo.

    Will you be making an updated dated FF13 deck? Would love to see one with the support from this set.

    The deck seems to be the strongest t1 in the game maybe even t2. But a bad hand would kill it. X-2 coule be enough to stop it top cutting. Gotta wait and see and if people prepare with extremely heavy EX decks amat salamanders etc this deck is in for a bad time

    Love to see a Wind Hope 23 list. I’ve tried storm myself but not convinced. Maybe more midrange or control. Ice or fire feels like the best pairing with it.

    cool vid, seems this deck is very suspectable to bad draws. once you mulligan and still have terrible hand, going to be difficult to come back one of the few true glass cannons would be curious to see how you would utilize LB deck with it - from both player perspectives

      Haha, yeah, I suppose I could have cut the video to make it look better, but at least it shows I don't fake a sample hand. :L I think some people just want to try and win on turn 2, or die trying. This one's for those degenerates. 🥂

    Super powerful deck. I understand that there were some unlucky draws in the goldfish, but it seems like it defeats itself as fast as it kills its opponent, sometimes without any prodding from them. A paper tiger that can give a mighty papercut if everything lines up. I’m worried about it, but I don’t think there will be any version in a Material Cup that can’t get its consistency up… or is played by a fan of YOLO and divine providence, I suppose. I’d bet this gets spreadsheeted with the aid of the ye ol’ hypergeometric calculato.

      I'm on that end as well. It's a fun deck when I got to play it. But if you know what's happening, it's very easy to interact with it.

      Aranea or New Noeal and this deck is absolutely screwd. This has great surprise factor, but once you know, you need a defensive Forward quick, it is not going to be as deadly as Steve sells it.

    I need an advanced ruling confirmation. Yuna (1-176H) would make emet and hythlo removed from game instead of going to break zone. Would their effect still trigger if the conditions from the action cost are not fully met?

    • @ErebosPlayer
      @ErebosPlayer Před 7 dny

      Yes they still trigger as part of the cost is to send them to the break zone. Still classed as paid for even if you use a replacmenet effect. Stops cards that trigger autos like "when goes from field to break zone" etc. What that yuna would do though is stopping any resurrection once we send those copies off

    • @YunaYoungTeam
      @YunaYoungTeam Před 7 dny

      Yes, you'll still reveal and play 4. The difference between these, and something like Ranperre which Yuna DOES stop, is that Ranperre only triggers after he has been put from the field to the Break Zone, whereas Hythlo never actually checks/triggers upon hitting the Break Zone - merely attempting is enough. Sorry your tech won't work!
