    Feels like this is the Mono Deck to beat this set. Mont Leonis is a nice spin on the typical Fire gameplan and I feel it's always worth building up towards. The fact that Mont Leonis even is a LB makes him even better, since he's always available once you got your setup, which is fairly easy to accomplish, to be honest. Scary strong card design

      I agree - highest ceiling on any LB so far - and only really Mono Water holds a candle to it this set, for me.
      They're the two Mono decks with an actual setup payload who can nevertheless play a normal game against aggro.

      @@YunaYoungTeam Yeah, but I can't shake the feeling that Fire can potentially outpace Water in that regard, since it can play an aggressive game, too, at the same time. Not as good as if you'd play a dedicated aggro strategy in Fire, though, but effective enough to make their decisive plays first.

      Very glad you enjoyed it! Hoping to make it a more common thing. Maybe once a week or fortnight. Just so happened I had the house to myself for a long weekend, so thought I'd invent some company. :P

    I feel silly but could someone explain Luneth's significance in this deck? 😢

    • @YunaYoungTeam
      @YunaYoungTeam  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Luneth's "go to combat" trigger reliably hits for 7k or more each time you go to combat.
      That's a pretty magical number - for every Backup or Goblin etc you control, Luneth can easily contribute to your efficient removal.
      Not bad for just 2CP.

      @@YunaYoungTeam Oh my god I was completely missing the "or Fire Character" bit of the second option. It has all become so clear, thank you!

    Thoughts on three drop Akstar as a target in Mono Fire?

      Came here to discuss exactly this.

      Definitely decent. I have a Water/Fire Warriors list that leans a bit heavier into Mog etc that has a really good time playing 3 Akstar as a way to cheat in Fire/Wind Zidane.

    You missed Althea, which if wasn't banned would be even more toxic with Evrae.. Bounce 2 back to hand each turn.

    • @YunaYoungTeam
      @YunaYoungTeam  Před 4 měsíci

      Very true - but she can't be used the turn she's played at least, so no Evrae combos. Thank goodness!

      Backups have "Summon Sickness" like forwards do in regards to their tap abilities. You can use the mana right away if you activate them but you have to wait a full turn to use any tap ability.

    Regarding Fire Deck: I see it misses Lehftia. Her Combo with Demon is the best non-targeting removal available for fire. She is vulnerable, but devastating.
    Besides that, I highly recommend Gutsco and Ignacio (Op10). Fire can run out of cards easily and having possibility to refill whole hand or have constant draw engine is important in every card game. Not to mention that having Minwu, you need to be able to be able have those 3 cards refilled. Gutsco, refills one card instantly, is not impactful enough for Amaterasu and if overlooked by opponent can create quite a headache. Playing 3x Selphie almost ensures he will survive one attack and then his value only grows.
    I do not like building your backup line having in mind "I must have 5". It is like preparing for battle after the upcoming one - might be obsolete.

      I get your points, and I'll try and address them in turn:
      ~Lehftia is the card I miss the most in this deck. She is super powerful, and I had multiple Fire versions that played her - a fact I addressed when I prerecorded the ill-fated first version of this DTT. But she doesn't synergise with Goblins very well. I would definitely play her in the Citra version of the list I alluded to, she's just too insane with Brynhildr not to.
      ~Gutsco lost almost all his playability when O15 Porom and Cuchulainn hit the mainstream. Even aggressive lists like Magissa cut Gutsco once more generally-useful things like the Taivas package got printed. I've definitely lost more games to Gutsco being answered on the stack of one of his triggers, or blanked, than I won because he drew cards.
      Firion being playable in Mono Fire outclasses him in alsmot every way.
      ~Ignacio was underrated for a little while IMO, but again, between being blanked or bounced, I don't think he aged well. Firion's much better in the same role for costing 2 (or 0+Taivas) than 5. It's cool that he can gain Haste off Mont, though. Funny.
      ~Mont Leonis is *definitely* worth ramping to 5 for. Insane couple of games televised on the KC Materia Cup last weekend - Mono Wind didn't stand a chance vs. Mont appearing twice.
      I wouldn't say I agree that this list runs out of cards in hand. Rather, some turns I feel weirdly pressured by the fact I have 6 in hand and wanted to pass turn there! 😅
