I absolutely agree with card information superseding imagery. It is extremely important for game designers to tell players how to play their game initially, because those first impressions are the most important. While having amazing card art is a part of that, I feel too many people prioritize aesthetics over information.

Well it is no lie that aesthetics are important. But there is no point in having a gorgeous card with next to no mechanics to engage a player intellectually.

I really like the idea of a card having different effects where you can chose which one to activate, definitely going to implement something similar in my game. I love the insight in tcg design you provide in these videos, you should defiantly continue the series.

Go for it. It is a great way for lowering how many cards you need in a set by giving one card multiple purposes.
      Thanks for enjoying the series.

I always loved the idea of you and your opponent merging your decks together but I could never find out how I might easily separate them again 😅

      That idea honestly terrifies me.

I think you might be better off designing a deck building game, like Ascension.

Love the work you put into these videos. We are on our tcg journey as well and there aren't a lot of videos out there that dive into the process of making a game the way you do with your videos. :)

Everything you said sounded right and was very helpful, but then the card you showed at the end as an example of all that stuff put together turned out to be really ugly, the curved lines add visual interest but they feel like they clash with each other, and the combo of light grey, dark grey and brown just doesn't entice me to read or play with the card, maybe that's just down to personal taste, would love to see more videos on how to get your TCG cards to look nice

You have to draw when it feels right. Just go with the flow.
