So the 2.5 kids is now the ideal family size for the American dream. The dream used to be a house, fenced yard with multiple kids and I believe a dog, not exactly sure but the kid portion went from 3+ to 2.5 as many don't get married or even want kids and the ones that do prefer about 2 to almost 3 kids, hence 2.5. Now you know lol, You guys looked concerned about the mother being on something and the dolls when she said it.

    • @Silvercanth

@@Rapertaptap Couldn't agree more. The problem isn't the puppetry itself or even it being an outlet but is her using it as a crutch in a way that is unhealthy. She doesn't need a new hobby she just needs to learn some boundaries and learn what is and is not appropriate in regards to her puppets. This is coming from an autistic person trained in puppetry so I'm not hating at all. Her finding a new outlet when this is her passion (yoga or singing were mentioned) is for sure bad advice. Why are those okay outlets and puppetry is not? Definitely a bad therapist. Her clearly passing judgement and having a sour vibe the whole time didn't help anything. I hope that experience didn't permanently taint her views on therapy.

fun fact about "My strange Addiction": many of the people who are interviewed are often told it is for a random documentary rather than for "My Strange Addiction", so this lady may have been approached for an alleged puppet documentary and actually have no idea why she has to film scenes like her mom doing an intervention for example.
i have no idea how legal it is to lie about why you're filming someone, but the directors will actively ask you to phrase things differently or use certain words so that it will fit their hidden script, and then make the necessary cuts to make it all fit in and look like a legit "documentary" about an addiction.
this was brought to light for me after deepdiving into the "I am a Living Doll" episode, where one of the participants had this happen to her. she is a follower of a specific japanese fashion that is very doll-like in appearance and many other followers were approached for this alleged "fashion documentary". needless to say after the episode was released she was more than pissed and ashamed for the wrong image that the show manipulated of her and the fashion as a whole.

She updated the entire family on "her" adventures (she had been to Africa and pet a lion?? Like there were actually pictures of this puppet petting a lion) and chimed in on the family event planning stuff. And then when I had tried to make sure I wasn't close to them during the family photo "she" said she wanted to stand next to me because I was the only other "kid" there. It does seem like a coping mechanism, especially when the doll was portraying a side of her that seemed aware it wasn't normal. I think she knows it isn't, but just like someone with an addiction who feels vulnerable keeps going back.
My guess is that she genuinely feels like she isn't alone with the puppets and they are people, might've come from a trauma of being unable to interact with other people and make connections, so she created her own and then got stuck in it.
Kinda reminds me of friends you could have in late teens who were way too shy to interact but wanted to, alongside having parents that kept pushing them down, hence they got into drinking a lot during parties to feel more bold, and eventually get stuck in that addiction of alcohol and its effects as they grow up.

And jealousy seeing her puppet collection lol 😂. I mean, I’ve seen many weird puppets and I will say hers are kinda creepy but some of them looked really well made, and those ventriloquism puppets can be really expensive so she probably laid down some cash on those bad boys.

I had these two puppets that were a monkey and a regular guy one. Class pictures were coming up and I got the great idea in my head to bring the guy puppet to school in my backpack, and whip it out while waiting in line to get my photo taken. I convinced the photographer that “my mom said it was okay” and got my picture taken with this puppet. Later that day when I got home, my mom received a call from the school asking about the photos and if she had given me permission. I was grounded and had to retake the photo again the next day. I eventually grew out of that phase, but that memory haunts me with cringe sometimes.
