Barges have been an integral part of my families life, history and livelihood for over 200 years. One barge carries the same load that EIGHTEEN lorries can - the positive environmental implications of getting these bad boys up and running again are undeniably huge.
But, furthermore, this is about “sticking it to the man” for us - historical Northern businesses like my grandads are sick of being undermined and undervalued by the powerhouses of this country - this is a victory not only for my family, but for so many Northern, working class people who have been robbed of their vocational livelihoods.
