Thing is he's your average war veteran. After you see people torn to smitherins like a daily routine, you become a kind of heavy person to deal with. Doesn't mean he had actual mental illnesses like narcissism before going to war. He just learned about what the world is like when it's not nice.

@@JohnWick-kb5jrwell stan edger did say he was in combat so I think he definitely was in ww2 but not at the battles he said like most ww2 veterans only 50k people out of 4 million soilders were at d day and the battle of the buldge and the eagles nest. Also homelander and Stan would know if soldier boy wasn’t in combat sense they both have that kind of clearance. So I think not d day definetly some of the in fighting in Normandy and definitely was fighting once they pushed up Belgium and Germany, also most likely Japan

@@ETERNAL_9000 That is how the body works tho, pain receptors don't necessarily require damage to be done to feel pain, they themselves merely need to be activated by stimuli to send those pain signals, plus a supe is only superhuman in durability and their pain receptors are still fundamentally human, hence no damage but pain since the receptors threshold isn't also raised like the supes durability

@@ETERNAL_9000 The same reason why pinching a nerve happens even though your body is physically fine, the force is still being exerted on the supes body, they're just not getting damaged by it, but the nerves still feel it and freak out cause it's still a lot of force on them.
Soldier Boy is shown to have an AK shoot him in the mouth and it hurts but he isn't damaged by it, same with Homelander feeling the pain of being burnt alive without his skin being scorched in the furnace.
