Jensen Ackles really nailed the delivery on this one. I can't imagine anyone else playing Soldier Boy
I'm hoping he comes back in season 4. And i wonder if they'll think about making a TV show about soldier boy. Sure he didn't fought in the war but i wonder what else he did.
It would be cool if they gave him his own spin-off show just like peacemaker ☝️😎🙌🔥
@@selenarodgers5667 Exactly dude. 1959 he funded herogasm, his thing. For final episode: where his team Payback betrayed him.
@@arturourbina6656They gotta test the supe killing virus on someone nearly as powerful as Homelander before they use it on Homelander.
I'm shocked at the difference between him now and in early shows like Dark Angel.
Hard to recognise, but yes, it's him.
You can tell he’s trying really hard not to laugh when he says Bill Cosby makes some strong drinks 🤣🤣🤣
He’s not wrong. And I’m sure plenty of people who knew him back then would say the same.

Soldier boy is more of a mean bully but he still has a conscience and knows right from wrong homelander is an insane man child with infinite power
Insecurity. Classic bully who turns their unfulfilled weakness on others because of what they faced at home.
@@Bman32xHe still treats Hughie and Butcher with respect (relatively speaking)
It's always about Homelander, when the video is not even about him. Rent free
@@J10005eh he was a bully and manipulative, he had more of a conscience than homelander yeah but was still a psychopath and showed a lack of empathy. Plus he was way to powerful and uncontrollable to be left alone at the same time because the dude was basically a walking nuke that could go off at anytime. Homelander is a man child yes and manipulative as well as a bully but he’s also more in control in a sense. He won’t kill an entire city full of people that worship him he’ll kill one or 2 people and try and take full control yes but he wants to be a leader in a sense.

I like how they highlight the importance of Fathers. Hughie at 1st thought his Dad was soft but he was the 1 that stayed
An interesting thought I never considered. They spent a good portion of this season exploring how Soldier boy's father influenced his path in life. The only "positive" example of fatherhood Soldier Boy ever references is Bill Cosby, who turned out to be a rapist. His perceptions are severely warped and perverted. When confronted with the opportunity to be a father figure to Homelander, he steps into his own father's shoes and calls his Homelander, his own "son", a disappointment. Does Soldier Boy see himself in Homelander and that's why he decides to kill him? Extreme narcissism mixed with self loathing forces him to attempt a kind of surrogate suicide. He sees his own reflection and tries to destroy it.
@@Shane-un8peYou raise a very interesting point. If there's anyone on the planet that could have influenced Homelander at this point to be a better person, it was Soldier Boy. I actually felt sorry for him when SB called him a disappointment.
@@Shane-un8pe Well even Bill Cosby is a rapist he was a good father model from outside. That was I started to disgust by every actor even the likes of Bill Cosby are like this who knows what f..ked up things other ones do.
A good father and a good mother should be the gold standard for every kids upbringing. Unfortunately, life isn't always fair and not every kid gets that.
Hughie's father could only stay because he was incapable of ever leaving. He did well nevertheless. He's clearly on one side of the question, "Are you peaceful or are you harmless?"
The juxtaposition of Soldier Boy’s realizations, anger and disappointment coming out while he’s remembering and talking, with the shots of the meter counting was brilliant.

He’s a saint compared to many of the super on this show. I believe he’s more down to earth than homelander seeing as he came of age before getting his powers.
Black Noir is also nice too, the majority of Payback members were good guys (with theirs flaws, of course)
He abused his own team and ruined many of their lives
@@Inevitable934
To be fair, he does most likely has PTSD from WW2 plus his crappy childhood. Not defending all the crap he did, but he’s MILES better than most of the supes on this show, and he’s more down to earth since he held a civil conversation with Hughie and Billy, plus he did end up sealing the deal and try to kill homelander even though he knew the truth. So all in all, Soldier Boy is not a good guy, but he’s not a villain either. Also yeah he ruined some lives but the people he killed before Nicaragua were most likely accidents, with Black Noir he was defending himself since they were trying to knock him out and they succeeded and he was tortured for around 40ish years.
@@bryantmonge1972 when you say "Sealing the deal even though he knew the truth" don't you mean "He tried to kill hisn own son and used his grandson as a distraction"?
And yes he IS a villain. He wanted to kill his whole team when he got back and don't say *ruined some lives* when he physically abused his girlfriend, and much younger team mates and caused the trauma and smashed out part of a young mans brain.

Compared to Homelander and the other more current "superheroes" at Vought, Soldier Boy really ISN'T that bad.
he is really bad
not stormfront or homelander bad but an easy third place
Yeah, he’s a piece of shit but he’s not a villain
@@maxotto9877He’s a villain but his goals aren’t world ending. Homelander and Stormfront wanted control of the company and possibly the world.
Soldier Boy’s only goal was to kill his old crew and Homelander, after which he would retire. He’s a bad guy, but he’s not very ambitious.
Vicky Newman is definitely 3rd place.
I wouldn't call Soldier Boy a villain. His goal is to get revenge on those who betrayed him. Pretty much any man whose worth his salt would have the same ambitions if they suffered from a similar series of events.
As for killing homelander, that's a blessing for the world. So that's something that makes him good. People who say he's a bad guy do so because they can't get past their modern sensibiltiies. Specifically regarding the fact that Soldier Boy used to discipline his team with violence.
But if you truly want to understand his actions, then you have to understand that Soldier Boy has the mentality of a soldier, and not some modern they/them tiktok soldier but an old school killl or be killed kind of soldier. It was his entire persona, and he lived up to it. Back in the day, if someone in the unit you were in command of mouthed off to you or disobeyed orders, you would hit them with the butt of your rifle stock.
So, in all fairness, he's just living up to the era he was raised in. Which isn't a bad thing, in fact I'd argue the world needs more men like Soldier Boy, or at least Western Civilization.@@Pioneer5118
@@maxotto9877 Stormfront was right. 111 Countries, all I'm saying.
Homelander is a product of his environment. A real American hero, in the most American way possible.

Oh and his special ability is a nuclear bomb.
He really is the perfect all American hero, what a fun character to watch.
Soldier Boy is an excellent representation of "not evil, just amoral" he doesn't want to hurt people directly unless they hurt him, but he also cares very little for the collateral damage he causes.

The reason i like Soldier Boy is because it is a depiction of the reality for combat vets who have been disenfranchised and discarded. Treated like trash when they get home and have things they need help with that they can’t talk to anyone about cuz their records are blacked out. They exhibit all the signs of PTSD but can’t explain how they got it because of a NDA that will have consequences for breaching. I know cuz I watched it happen. 😂this scene is happily terrifying.
Everyone's forgetting what Soldier Boy has said and done in the show. When MM confronted him about his family slaughter "You killed my family", Soldier Boy coldly responded, "Which one?". I believe in this scene he probably was trying to manipulate Hughie, or he was a sociopath who didn't realize what he was.
You know what bugged me about this season. We were told Solider Boy was worse than Homelander but we were never shown that. Worst he did, he did while having PTSD.
The entire episode was to get a weapon to use against Homelander only to not use him when facing Homelander. And they don’t even get the excuse that Solider Boy is the worse evil cuz he wasn’t even taken care of by Homelander. They could of let him take out Homelander first then deal with him after. But the dude came off so done with life that I don’t think he was going to be a threat even if they let him go. He’s an *sshole and a threat when under stress cuz he can’t control his chest cannon but he acted like he was retired the whole season
Oh he might not be worse but he is on par terrible with Homelander. You can see a guy that bullet or other supes can't stop and would explode if put in a stalemate or when PTSD hits out of nowhere, topping that off with toxic masculinity, heightened sense of misogyny and no sense of morality. He would do damage if let go just by arguing with another man or dads that look off to his eyes or girls who reject him. Don't forget he is a literal walking human-vest too. At least Homelander has some social ratings number to care about, but this man only fight for his own twisted sense of righteousness.

@@anotherfool9278 homelander respects his team to a certain extent, or at least he did at the start of the show…he kills criminals and innocents yea but he doesn’t know them personally which is why i think what soldier boy did to black noir and the rest of the team is way worse than anything homelanders done in the series so far. Even when homelander killed noir he did it bc he felt like he had to and if I remember correctly he cried a bit or at the very least was sad about it. Homelander thinks that supes are superior to humans so he treats them like less than him, soldier boy was just a bad person and a bully but with that much power hes way more dangerous and worse than homelander overall. (Thats just my opinion tho, i can understand why people argue homelander is worse//we also got to see a more human side of soldier boy we dont get from homelander so it makes sense)

I don’t know. Looking at how he is here, it really doesn’t feel like he’s a bad guy. Sure, he has his superiority complex, and why not since he’s one of most perfect supes created, but then he isn’t evil in the way he was depicted in Black Noir’s flashback. 🤷🏻♂️
