More about me as a Cosmetic Dermatologist:
Hi my name is Dr. Stefani Kappel and I’m a board certified Dermatologist! I’ve been practicing dermatology for 15 years and have been obsessed with skin my entire life.
Authenticity and honesty is my priority. Unlike many dermatologists on CZcams I do not accept any paid partnerships. I never have and I never will. Everything I post from skincare to in office procedures are ones that I truly believe in.
After obtaining my medical degree I completed a residency in a dermatology at UCLA. I took my first job as full time faculty at UCLA as professor of Dermatology.
It was then my love for teaching expanded and I began to educate thru social media. I post educational videos for my patients and for “skin nerds” like me who want to take their understanding of skin care to the next level.
Thank you for joining my CZcams Derm family 💙
I am also the creator and formulator of MDAiRE Skincare

Please do a video covering off the best of the facial rejuvenation lasers and how they stack up. I.e halo vs fraxel vs CO2 and any others to be aware of in this same category.
Will do!
@@DrStefaniKappel CoolPeel 🙏🏽
This was helpful. I always hear you rave about fraxel and thought fraxel was one specific procedure, not a type. Can you please do a video explaining the difference between different types of fraxel? Thanks
great and informative video!! Can you please do a video specifically on jowls and tightening the lower face for us 50 plus ladies?
Hi! Thank you! Yes I actually have a couple of videos about this :) here they are: czcams.com/video/syN2cBz0Uvs/video.html czcams.com/video/M4TqmjxM_YA/video.html czcams.com/video/RC-d2ltuYCk/video.html
Thank you. This was great information.
Thank you for this video!!! So much to consider ❤
Love this and PS you are gorgeous ! and it was great to meet you this past week in person ! can't wait for Ellacor sessions xx
Awesome information, thank you! 😊
What a great video. I learned so much. Thank you, Dr. Kappel.
Thank you so much for taking time to do this video. Its extremely beneficial. I so appreciate all your advice.
More in depth laser info please! I love that you share your knowledge in an easy understand and useful way.
Thank you for this video! You did a great job breaking down the different types of lasers ... looking forward to more videos like this! God bless :) (especially on the topic of sagging skin / jawline)
I love your channel!!
Thank you so much!!
Always informative, I like when you look directly at us, each camera is different and challenging ❤ excellent breakdown, lots of clarity
Great video! Love your hair 💕
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you so much for breaking down lasers for us! It's definitely the most Ive been able to understand the subject. And I'm really interested in lasers; so this has been an amazing sort of 101 video to help me get started & at least kind of know what's what.
~You *are* the Laser Queen! 👑 ~
Your information is always greatly appreciated! I live in North Carolina and would love to know if there is anyone you have heard good things about or recommend in my state for laser treatment. Its so frustrating bc some many people are recommending the treatments you have said really arent the best ones available. So trying to find a provider to trust is getting so hard. I'm willing to travel anywhere in NC if you have recommendations! Again thank you for all the knowledge you share with us!❤
Deeper dive into each one would be excellent 🎉
Yes! Please post some videos on the Sub-Catagories of these Lasers.
I like your authenticity, you even had to tell us that you are hiding from your kids and you even showed us your Hubby; you are great!
I so appreciate you and your time. Your skin is gorgeous and flawless. I look forward to a deep dive when you have time. Happy Sunday!
Thank you so much!
You have the perfect combination of beauty AND brains _ thank you for this information !!!
Wow, thank you!
You are just phenomenal Dr. Kappel, thank you for your dedication ❤
My pleasure!
Another great and informative video! Thank you Dr Kappel
👏👏👏
Thank you so much!! So glad you enjoy!
Thank you Dr. Kappel for your expertise and time to make all these educational videos. I’m your biggest fan and I’ve learned so much from you. Will you please do a video on Fotona 4D facial micro-sculpture rejuvenation and Laser Genesis? Thank you. 🌹💖🥰
As always, Dr. Kappel, your videos are so informative. Thank you for educating us! How often do you recommend having a Fraxel treatment done for someone who is "older"? What kind of maintenance plan provides optimal results?
Thank you Dr. Kappel! I’m so glad I came across your YT channel! I’m a young feeling and looking 54yo, but for the past few years have noticed under eye bags, fine wrinkles and some sagging of the jaw area. I really don’t want to have a face full of filler, so I’m taking your advice and going the laser route. I just had my 1st partially ablative laser treatment with the Secret Pro Co2 laser and RF microneedling. I only had my under eye and perioral area treated. I didn’t really want the microneedling but the aesthetician said results will be better when doing both. It’s only been 2 weeks but I have noticed an improvement in my skin tightness, maybe less wrinkles. I’m scheduled for a full face laser with microneedling in a month. Thank you again for all you do to help others make informed decisions about cosmetic dermatology procedures😍💋
So glad to hear and thank you for sharing your experience. I always prefer lasers over fillers. Looks natural and its actually healthy for the skin!!
Hi Dr. Stephanie! I am so thankful that I found your videos. I love how honest you are about the different treatments that are out there; which are good and which ones are good and which ones are bad or not worth the money! I know it says this video is about seven months old, so I don’t even know if you will see this comment, but I would love to know your thoughts on the Fotana 4D laser. Is it worth the hype and the money??
Excellent video! I hear you name many types of lasers. Do you use a Moxie laser? If not, why? Thank you
Hi Dr. Kappel, you're my favourite YT channel!!! I love lasers but do you also recommend Radiesse in your combined therapies? If so, where do you usually inject it? Thanks!
Great info doctor🙌🙌🙌 love it. So if i understand it correctly if i want resurfacing in the middle, i should choose non ablative fractionated laser with around couple weeks downtime ? Is that correct ? Thank you kindly doctor Stefanie and have a blessed day🙏❤️
Thank you so much for these wonderful informative videos. You look amazing! 💕 If I can't find a good provider in Indiana, I'm seriously considering flying out to see you. Do you ever complete virtual consultations? Can HSA cards be used for payment?
Thank you for clarifying the different laser treatments. Where we live and what is offered basically is categorized as medi spas. I am 70 years old have been having laser genesis ( which I now understand because of you is just heat and not a laser treatment that stimulates collagen every 2 months) I only have a choice between 2 types of Laser Resurfacing using MicroNeedling with Radiofrequency. ~ Fractora & Morpheus 8. My skin does look healthy But I guess do I just keep doing what I am doing as I have no issues or try something like the fractora . Spend the money on one treatment once a year instead of going every 2 months. 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you for educating us
I thought in another video you said you do not do microneeding because you do not agree with the procedure.
I would like to see videos to help my age group age gracefully.
Laser specialist in Sarasota Florida? Love your content 😊
Very informative. Thnx. I’ve had Fraxel and was happy with the results. Would love to see a video dedicated to hand rejuvenation. I use tretinoin, hand creams and spf but would like to hear about more anti-aging options that would reverse damage. Thnx!
Sure thing! There is a lot we can do for the hands too.
@@DrStefaniKappel Great! Thank you! Also wanted to mention I’ve had sclerotherapy on my hands with great result. I had very prominent veins on my hands that were unsightly. No more!
What state are you in? It’s hard to find laser trained professionals in my state.
Thank you for this information. I put a form to request a consultation. I am waiting to hear from your staff. I am sure you are very busy!
I have learned so much, thank you Dr. Kappel. Could you do a video on the difference between radio frequency fractionated co2 and co2 fractional laser treatment. I know you have done thermage, have you done co2 treatments?
Thermage is not a laser. CoolPeel is a non ablative fractional laser. It has a much lower downtime compared to traditional C02 which is fully ablative from what I understand. Results are comparable too❤
Hi Dr. Kappel, I am getting thermage on my lower face, jowls and neck and a full face/eyes with CO2 in October at Chicago Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery office with Dr. Carolyn Jacobs. I also started Clear and Brilliant and plan to continue after CO2. BC of you I have learned so much so ty for all your informative videos.
How where your results?
I needed up just doing a CO2 in October. Def see tightening around my eyes and I feel I can see the big difference more when I wear make up. I think I stare at my imperfections area that bothers me so much , that it's not 100% gone but when I wear make up and I def see better texture. I am 3 months post op , I am planning to now do a Thermfrax in a couple weeks. I am about to be 39 and trying for baby #2 so trying to be on top of all my beauty treatments since I can't do much for year + if I get pregnant. @@tl9113
Thank you for another informative video. Is the Pixel laser the same or similar to a dual fractional laser? What are your thoughts on the Pixel laser?
What is your opinion of ADVATX laser ? I have good skin but want to add a laser yearly for prevention based on what I have heard from you ❤ that is what is being recommended to me.
Your skincare line is amazing! Please do a growth factor next 😊
I would love to hear your thoughts on at home devices like the NuFace and Nira at home laser.
Many of my patients who use athome devices often say they do not see a significant change. They can be expensive and time consuming so if they do not make a big difference I would not waste your time or money.
Yes please give more information on lasers for various types of skin concerns. I have malasma and have been told any laser or even radio frequency microdermabrasion would only make it worse but I am interested in hearing from you and if I can do these things what would you recommend.
Also under-eye rejuvenation, I’ve had filler and it’s made my under eye look worse overtime. I have puffiness and hollowness. I would like to try laser but what’s best? Could I use the same treatment for malasma and under eyes?
I had treatment from a Fraxel type laser back in 2007. I peeled for almost a year. Yeah, not kidding. They told me that the setting was too intense for my face and ended up not charging me for half. My skin has thinned out dramatically because of it rather than improving thickness. It was aweful. Evidently fraxels can still be pretty intense. 15 years later I really need to do something because everything is dropping. I'm 47. I have Sjogren's and had a total hysterectomy 10 months ago. It's been hell. I went from looking okay in 40's to now looking late 50's. Crazy. I want to something but scared because of what happened years ago. My major problem areas are eye bags, jowls, loose neck skin and wrinkled lips. I'm athletic thin build.
Hi Dr Kappel, thank you for your sharing your knowledge with us. I wanted to ask you if in your experience you have ever worked with Aerolase and what you think of it. I am looking for a treatment that will help create collagen and elastin and tighten my face and neck. It seems that you are a huge fan of thermage and so I will look into that but do you have any thoughts on Aerolase for these purposes?
Dr Kappel I wanted to ask you a question but my hope is I don’t want to sound rude.
It’s just honestly, you look amazing do you only do lasers or have you ever done plastic surgery procedures I’m asking because I want to do whatever you recommend to look as gooodd as you! 🔥 ♥️
I am grateful that i found you. I actually made an appointment with you for this summer. So is IPL for spots and redness effective? And is "fractional" good for fine lines and wrinkles? Can they effectively be used on other parts of the body like the back? And are either of these good for firming? Thanks.
Hi gorgeous! Thank you so much for all your videos. What laser would you recommend for droppy eyelids and wrinkles underneath the eyes. I believe you had mentioned fraxel on a video I had seen awhile back. I live in Georgia and trying to find someone here 😢
Yes both work well for that. Thermage is a deeper tightening vs Fraxel is more superficial and may require more than one treatment.
I really enjoy your videos Dr. Kappel. Is there a laser that is best for Poikiloderma of Civatte? I would love to see a video that addresses this issue. I have it on my neck and have not had any luck in getting it to fade.
Yes, me too. My derm just recommended IPL for me. What have you tried?
@@JohannaHaggstrom I’ve done IPL, Morpheus 8 and Hydroquinone.
Hi Dr. Kappel! I spoke to an ObGyn today about the Juliet laser for my face & neck - do you have any experience with it? I’d love your feedback, if so! Thanks for all the informative videos
Hi doctor , could you please do a video about malar bags or Festoons, I want to get rid of them but don't know which treatment is best. Will laser help? Or fillers or RF? Looking forward to your suggestions. I live in Germany and I want to have more information before I go for a consultation .
Hi Dr. Kappel, I'm scheduled to get my first Elite IQ for pigmentation but I'm wondering what you think about this laser treatment? Will it address my crepey under eye as well? What is BEST for that ? xo from Toronto
Thank you ! I would love a video on thermage 17:13 and Ulthreapy❤️😘😘❤️xox all the way from Santa Barbara, California there are no specialist out here. I have to go to Calabasas I see a Dr. Anna Guanche
If you know of any dermatologists, they should open an office in Montecito❤❤❤
Do you know where you'd go for up to fully ablative resurfacing in Santa Barbara? I had a deep TCA peel over a year ago and have finally been consistent with sunscreen and Tretinoin.😊 1:07
So so helpful! A lot of misinformation out there. Searching for a provider in SLC. Let me know if you know of anyone!
Thank you for all this information! I’d love a deeper dive into each laser…with pictures before and after, too!🙏🏻🫶🏻🩵
Can you recommend anyone in the Boston/ northern Mass, to southern New Hampshire area?
I’ve been searching forever and it’s just so overwhelming, I already have asymmetrical lip filler, and other issues I need to address, and would love to try all these treatments you recommend. Everyone I talk to pushes filler or micro needling, lately NeoGen is being recommended.
Do you have experience with Neogen?
Dr Stefani, what do you recommend for the visible “second chin” or to tighten the chin contour in a young, 33-year-old skinny patient with hypothyroidism?
Morning! I live in Dallas. Can you please recommend someone in Dallas for Thermage ,🙏thank you
Hi Dr. Kappel, what do you think of Tixel? Apparently the results are similar with those of CO2 lasers, but with less downtime... Thank you!
In a previous video you commented and recommended a Dr Green in south Florida, is that Dr Jeremy Green at skin associates of south Florida?
Oh my god! I'm so glad that I saw your comment. I live in Bonita Springs (other side of Florida) and have been searching high and low for for a board-certified, fellowship trained cosmetic dermatologist. After looking up Dr. Green and searching his website, I believe that is who she recommended. 😊
What about for super sensitive skin which reacts to even actives? Which should began with?
Will you speak on Yag lasers!! :)
Can you tell me about the tetra co2 cool peel.
I have skin type 6, with some ice prick & rolling scars, with some mild facial lines and signs of skin aging due to Eczema, yet I am just 26yrs. What Laser treatment could you recommend for me, Dear Doctor?
You know so much!! How about Radio-frequency needling ie. Morpheus or Sylfirm X RF? What is your opinion?
I would love to know your opinion about sylfirm
@@khanoms I tried sylfirm. So painful and I ended up with cold sores everywhere around my mouth. But there was no redness. I didn't go back for more treatment.
What are your thoughts on tixel? Do you think it is as effective as lasers?
Do any lasers help with HYPOpigmentation? IGH/white sun spots?
How often should you get a Fraxel after the initial series. Is once a quarter okay?
Is Urbeam yag a good laser for the face, that will take care of wrinkles, red skin and blood vessels? And can you have fat loss, skin thinning and hypopigmentation? Thank you
I’m 45 and had a baby 2 years ago and feel that really started the aging process for me. My gift to myself is laser, I’m just not sure which one.
I can’t thank you enough for this channel.
Do you do FaceTime visits since I’m in PA? All I have done is IPL and I really want to not do injectables at all but I really need to address aging head on, pigment, texture and pore size. What lasers would you recommend? Also what have you done as you look amazing and would like to have that natural look of firmness but not of an over filled face. I work at a college and I need to turn back the time clock at little. Please help
CoolPeel Tetra laser. It's a non-ablative c02 laser that addresses all your concerns❤
What about hybrid laser like one by Alma? is it better than either ablative and non ablative?
This was informative, thank you. Please look into the camera lens not whatever display/monitor you're using when you're talking to us. It's feels very off when you're not looking at us.
Best lasser gor eye bags
So you have provider recommendations in the Midwest? I'm in Oklahoma.
What about for Asian? If I want to achieve the middle result like the Fracel, should I go with that or the Pico laser when down time is not a concern.
How do you find a qualified dermatologist to perform for example a Fraxel laser treatment? My dermatologist does not do it and didn't give me a recommendation.
What do you think of moxie laser for melasma?
I’ve lost face fat due to Morpheus. I am really scared will laser in turn melt my facial fat as well? Thank you ❤
Hi Stefani, from your Beauty Nerd , I never mentioned you look good from your last the trip you took a few months ago. I have two questions. 1st questions is what lasers do you have in your office and why. The 2nd is I used to use eyelash extensions and I stopped because I was concerned if I used them for a long time if they would damage my eyelashes long term, where I would not have any eyelashes. What is your experience, have you had any, concerns? I was thinking of using lash extensions again.
Yes if you continue you will loose all your eyelashes, haven’t you seen the video where Oprah where she said she lost all her eyelashes and cannot go out now without fake ones , if you still have your eyelashes stop using fake
I often take breaks from lash extensions and my lashes always get healthy again. I feel it is a good idea to take beaks. As far as laser that I have in my office, I selected these based on working for years in a laser institute where I had access to hundreds of lasers. I carefully watched which one performed the best, gave the best results and had the happiest patients. It was Vbeam, Fraxel, a CO2 ( I have a CO2RE), PicoWay, Clear and Brilliant Touch, Thermage (always out performed Ulthera in my experience), and more. I do not have an IPL, BBL or microneedling device because patient's were never satisfied with the results from these devices and they often caused scarring hyperpigmentation weeks to months aftertreatment. The lasers I mentioned that "made the cut" had results that were superior and no other devices came close. I also have an Ellacor which is my favorite for tightening. I had the opportunity to use Ellacor in clinical trials in 2017 and was impressed then and still impressed now with the results it gives.
@@DrStefaniKappel Thank you Stefani, I can always count on you, I learn a lot, I can see why you were a professor. Thank you for taking time to teach me and all us!
Hi Dr. Would fraxel help with a forehead scar? I have had it all my life from an injury as a child. It was dent-like in appearance up until a year ago when I had filler done by a dr to see if it would fill it in. It worked but now looks more scar like with a small white line and make the skin look even uneven in texture and tone. Would love to know the best treatment to pursue. Many thanks in advance
I have read and seen on YT that red light therapy can help. I am using RL at a tanning salon 3-5 times per week for a deep scar and inflammation on my glute due to an injury. I have been doing it and I think it is improving. Other people have told me they have used red light for acne scars.
I was told fat transfer from two plastic surgeons but I am not interested.
Fraxel would be perfect. Effective, safe and first line of therapy.
Please tell me if a Cool Peel laser treatment is good or what it is.
Are energy devices and Morpheus8 safe for melasma?
Is the Matrix IR the same as clear and brilliant?
How would HALO compare with Fraxel? Is one better than the other for resurfacing?
Dr is alma hybrid laser good for melasma
What is the best laser for scars I have a scar from fat transfer that got infected at the injection site
Can you please discuss aftercare with laser
The after care can vary with each type of laser but yes I can!
I have a question. My dermatologist's office sells a package of treatments and I was wondering if the treatments would be right for me. The one I've been looking at is two BBL's and one fraxel dual. My goal is to get rid of my hyperpigmentation. Would this package of treatments be good for me?
What about anti aging lasers for rosacea sufferers? Thank you
Vbeam!!
Thank you
Which laser would u recommend for slight skin sag from facial volume loss?
I would like to know too
Can I get fraxel on my knee area? Or would Ellacor be better for wrinkles and skin tightening?
I think Ellacr will give more impressive results in that area :)
@@DrStefaniKappel wow! awesome I will plan to see you for that ❤️
If you get forhead Botox can you do Ellacor?
How does the Coolpeel laser compare to something like Fraxel?
I believe CoolPeel is a light CO2 laser. If done correctly it should yield a good result. I like Fraxel a little more because it never disappoints and the use of dual wavelengths gives the advantage of targeting both texture and tone.
Is there anything out there that can dense the earlobes so that we can wear heavy earrings without the sag?
When discussing the fractionated vs non-fractionated lasers do you mean to say that they are equivalent in their results vs equivocal? As the latter word means more than one possibility or that there is uncertainty or ambiguity…
How frequently can you get lasers and can you get too much of a good thing?
What laser /energy device would you suggest to tighten breasts after trauma & swelling, to tighten skin and aereolas
Is it true that 4 sessions of clear and brilliant equals 1 session of CO2? I hear many clinics say that and many don't.
Can eye bags be treated and improved with laser treatment? If so, which is best for this?
I have a video all about under eye treatments that might be helpful for you! :) czcams.com/video/jias4l12yQc/video.html
I would like to know what lasers are for thermafrax
ThermaFrax = Thermage + Fraxel
Moxie or Advatx?
